Ian Moore is a flat out musical genius! He's truly a very gifted artist. He performs so many interesting styles of music. I've followed him since his career began and own his entire discography.
Great to see him featured. 🎸🤘🎸

How in the hell did I not know you made a video about Ian?? Michael.....Ian is the most genuine, emotional, down to earth people you'll ever meet. I had the fortune of meeting him a few times and even had some beers with him. HIGHLY encourage anyone to listen to his stuff.

The star of this take on Satisfied is not Ian's playing, it's his vocals.
Such an immensely thick and powerful vocal performance. He has tube-like thickness to his voice.

You NEED to listen to Ian Moore Live in Austin, especially his version of Blue Sky/Abraham, Martin and John! His solo there is so nuanced and beautiful! He demonstrates how the guitar is an extension of his voice, and expression, as opposed to just a musical instrument!

Ian is incredible! I went to a concert of his back in the 90's. His guitar never stopped playing for like 3 hours. If the next song was in a new key he would modulate into the next key and hit the ground running. It was an incredible night.

Been an Ian Moore fan since the early 90's and have seen him live countless times. He is such a dynamic performer, putting all his heart into every show. On top of that he's a great story teller and man has he got some stories. He's approachable, engaging and always has a few minutes to talk. Class act all around.

Thank you for introducing people to Ian. My best friend’s brother snuck me into my first bar to watch Ian Moore in 1996 when I was 16. The women were going crazy until he took the stage. The place went quiet because it was the first show after he cut off his hair. You could feel the disappointment.

Finally, some national recognition for Ian. As a fan for 30 years it's so frustrating how little spotlight is on this guy. Unfortunately he doesn't play the east coast often, but when he does I make every show I can. A thousand thanks for putting his name on your channel.

I had to chuckle when you said a little Stevie in there. Back when Ian debuted that’s how they had him pegged. Austin. The hat and the boots and the strat - all of it. You could tell that’s where they wanted him to be. But he ended up going in his own beautiful direction. He always could and still can rip electric blues for sure. But his own personality came out in a big way.

    • @timweaver9773
      @timweaver9773 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thats absolutely right. Antone's wanted the "next" SRV so any guitar slinger in Austin got put in a box with regards to what the labels would let them put out, how they looked, how they sound, etc. Ian was one of these, but also Kenny Wayne Shephard, Eric Johnson (kinda), Doyle Bramhall II, David Grissom, Charlie Sexton, and many others.
Ian wanted to write and sing and play a huge variety of stuff and not just be known for "Jesus Crossed the Rio Grande".
I have had the pleasure of seeing Ian a couple of times do these smaller acoustic shows and he blows me away every time. Truly an incredible talent.

Great breakdown. I’ve been watching this video the last several years trying to understand the secrets to soloing with chord changes. I’m further along thanks to you.
Ian was arguably an heir to the throne of SRV at one point (serious blues chops on his first self titled album) but he took a detour down the songwriting path and even refused to play “Satisfied” for several years. He’s since reconciled with his past life much to the delight of his fans. His album “And all the colors” is a masterclass in effects pedal usage. The last track “Fickle” is similar to this video in that it’s primarily vocals over some incredibly well crafted jazz chords. So good.

Wow...I've played this song for years, but never like THIS! Ian Moore...first time I saw him was as a maybe 17 yr old playing the little Black Cat Lounge on 6th in Austin in the early 90's. Sat and chatted with him for an hour after a show at Caravan of Dreams in Ft Worth. Unfortunately he got sidled with the "next SRV" moniker...and I think it weighed on him a bit...he loved him dearly. Love his first couple of albums. Satified, Paint Me A Blue Sky, and Muddy Jesus are phenomenal and immediately come to mind when I think of Ian. Great dude, immense talent.

I've been a fan since the early 90's & I saw him live in a bar in Dallas around 99. I was expecting to hear rockin' blues songs from the first couple albums & this show was the release of the 'Ian Moore's Got The Green Grass' album. I was completely caught off guard. It was different & amazing. Everyone needs to listen to Satisfied & Blue Sky from his first album, then go listen to a few songs from Green Grass. Maybe start with Many Rivers, Closer & Beautiful Light. Ian is a MONSTER talent.

Anyone who does a video on Ian Moore is alright in my book. Hands down my favorite artist. He has spanned different styles and genres over the years but he has always cranked out consistently good music with amazing vocals and crazy good guitar playing. See him in concert several times but his smaller shows have always been my favorite. Anytime this artist plays a small venue by himself it gives me all the feels. Larger shows are great too. Really love his work! Thanks for this!

Michael, I picked up Ian Moore's self-titled album released in '93, merely by chance at a small record store up in New Hope, PA. Just browsing around the store I came across his CD and by the cover is how I decided to purchase it. It's an image of him sitting there with his guitar, and I thought hmm this has got to be a pretty good guitar album if he's promoting it by his name as the title and only him on the front sitting there with his guitar? I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to it and it quickly became one of my favorites. Great player and as you said a great voice as well. I suggest you give that whole album a listen, if you will. You won't regret!

Worked in Houston in late 90’s had the pleasure of seeing Ian Moore there and in Austin, man what a vocal, songwriting and musical talent most of all he can play the hell out of the guitar. He runs an annual songwriting workshop in Texas though likely sold out this year. He does advertise one on one virtual lessons His first two albums so bluesy, he was talked about as the next SRV but went in a different direction.

Ian's "Modern Folklore" album is amazing. But the follow-up albums "And All The Colors" and "Via Satellite" (live) are unbelievable. He didn't like being pigeonholed as a SRV successor , so the style advances significantly. For me, an amazing track is the cover of "Many Rivers to Cross" from the Ian Moore's "Got the Green Grass" album. Highly recommended. The live track "Muddy Jesus" from Via Satellite incorporates Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" an amazing performance.
