At this point, Daniel was the type to literally grab his championship and his girlfriend and go home the second he began struggling in a match. As champion, that works in his favor. He was also the kind of guy who had been berating his kind and loving girlfriend the whole time he was champion. So, the best, and funniest way to keep a runner from running is to catch them off guard. I actually laughed so hard at this, and I’d like to thank Daniel and Sheamus for making such a memorable moment for me to see.
This list-more than any other-proves that WWE/WWF were more about aesthetic and spectacle more than in-ring wrestling. I can applaud them on this since it’s worked for them, but the amount of coverage here (and everywhere) on these shows say a lot more about how they “did business” more than how they booked good matches. Love what you love. There’s no shame in that, but I LOVE professional wrestling more than sports entertainment. I’m so glad there are companies out there that buck this tired (for me) trend!
