This video saved me a whole lot of headache thank you! However I did go with a quarter inch rope after the smaller one didn't give me enough clearance. It went in like butter after that.

Excellent video! Have you ever installed the metal trims into some of the British cars form 60's and 70's such as the MGB GT and Jaguar E-Type? The metal finisher strip on the B GT is different than this Volvo Amazon - the metal trim needs to be fit between two "lips" on the windscreen seal. It seems to be a lost art.
wish I,d seen this years ago when I had an Amazon and did a lot of work on it.

Nice video, but for a perfect job one need to fit a bit of tape, on the back of the joint section, so it dont leave scrape marks.

I removed my trim (a number of years ago) - the windscreen is now leaking (water dripping on to floorwell) - does this trim in anyway aid the waterproofing of the windscreen. I thought it was just for bling.
It is just for the bling.
It does add rigidity to the rubber making for less space for moisture to get through.

this same procedure for triumph stag trim looks similar
I would advise that you never ever use WD40 on windshield glass. In time the lubricant seeps in between the two layers of glass and clouds the safety layer on the edges. A little soap and water will do the trick.
use silicone spray not WD
