Tommy Crain was always Charlies best guitar player and his main stay for many years. This line up was; Charlie Daniels guitar/ slide, Tommy Crain guitar, Charlie Hayward bass guitar, Taz degregorio b3hammond piano, Freddie Edwards drums, Bob Marshall Drums. This was a smokin band. Don murray was Also one of CDBS fine road drummers 1973 era.
I'd put Charlie and Tommy up against any guitar duo that anyone could name. Those two together were just magic
Love Tommy and this band right here. Up there with the very best ever!!
i'm here for the Tom Crain guitar playin.
That drummer’s name is Jimmy Marshall. 😎
Your 100% percent right about Tommie but the guy that followed him. Bruce Ray Browm is a beast as well. The song “Mr DJ.”Stumped me for years. I just couldn’t figure how they did intro and solos. No one covers it and there’s no video of it live.I finally sent Bruce an E-mail through the fan club. Less than 24 hours later there was a reply from Bruce about 3/4 of a page long. He explained it in detail was the most humble nice guy you’d ever want to meet.
Damn I miss you Charlie thank you for the memories
As a bass player, I’ve always loved the bass line in this song. Charlie Heyward brought a funky/groovy sound to southern rock in this one. He sure looks like he’s having fun playing it too.
RIP Charlie and thanks for being the soundtrack for a lot of great memories.
RIP Charlie and Tommy. Thank You!
I'll be damn, boy, we sure miss you, Charlie.
I had this album and wore it out. Believe it or not, this is still my favorite song of all time. No one can ever sing it as fast or keep rhythm like CDB. He was singing fast and wiping his face faster than I can talk. I absolutely love it. Pounding on the keyboards outstanding
Thank you mr Daniels for great music you are now with Tommy Crain and Taz best ever
Favorite song of his, miss ya bud
Love ya Charlie, and Ole Taz and John Lee Walker and the peroxide blonde! Another angel gained his wings!
Saw him in concert no one can take his place
Rest in Peace, brother.
I believe this came out around 76 78 Fire on the Mountain had the 8track in my 63 impala it was a Craig power play with Jensen 6x9 in the back cruising listening to the CDB and sliding down a few cold one's
Love it, beautiful memories my friend!
I called a friend told him if you ever wonder why we loved C.D.B.watch this.
And forty years later, he still sounds just like this.
BUMMER! R.I.P
Thanks Charlie for rocking my world.
I wish I tommy Crain was here
A killer song that used to be a staple on the Phil & Brent Show. Yes Roy D. Mercer was a fan.

The Ron Paul Liberty Report.
Call up Trudy on the telephone
Send a letter in the mail
Tell her I'm hung up in Dallas
And they won't let me outta this jail
And if she asks you how I'm fairing
Tell her I'm just about to lose my mind
Worried about old Johnny Lee Walker
And the girl I left behind
Now Johnny Lee Walker was a card mechanic
Had a hand for trouble and a eye for cash
Luckiest man in Dallas County
He had a gold watch chain and a black mustache
And he loved his whiskey and he loved his women
Drove a big long Cadillac limosine
Kept a big fine fancy townhouse in Dallas
And a hotel suite in New Orleans
Carried a switchblade knife in his left hip pocket
And a .44 hog leg up under his coat
Cut you down in a New York minute
If he catch you cheating that was all she wrote
So call up Trudy on the telephone
Send her a letter in the mail
Tell her I'm hung up in Dallas
And they won't let me outta this jail
If she asks you how I'm fairing
Tell her I'm just about to lose my mind
Worried about old Johnny Lee Walker
And the girl I left behind
I just got to town last Friday evening
Sure as hell didn't mean to stay
I was on my way back to Louisiana
Had a powerful thirst and six months pay
I met a peroxide blonde in a bar on D-ville
I was flying high and feeling mean
Poured down a bottle and a half of red eye
I dropped 35 dollars in the slot machine
And the boys in the back was dealing 7 card
I set down and won me a 110
I was raking in chips like Grant took Richmond
Till big Johnny Lee come a strolling in
He ripped off the table like a 707
Pretty soon he done won all of my bread
I accused him of cheating he reached for a pistol
I grabbed a chair and went upside of his head
Then I took off a running like a motorcycle
Heard the bullets whining and sirens wail
But it took half the cops in Dallas County
Just to put one coolest boy in jail
So call up Trudy on the telephone
Send her a letter in the mail
Tell her I'm hung up in Dallas
And they won't let me outta this jail
And if she asks you how I'm fairing
Tell her I'm just about to lose my mind
Worried about old Johnny Lee Walker
And the girl I left behind
So call up Trudy on the telephone
Send her a letter in the mail
Tell her I'm hung up in Dallas
And they won't let me outta this jail
And if she asks you how I'm fairing
Tell her I'm just about to lose my mind
Worried about old Johnny Lee Walker
And the girl I left behind
Just to put one coolest boy in jail
err
Just to put one coonass boy in jail
Would you like to see more people in church...contract the CDB to play the gospel music before the preaching
Wasn't afraid to speak mind
I was singing this song in 1985 and kinky county jail
sorry, you got what?
All of it. Everything!
