Yeah, I thought his voice sounded a bit different as well. The only issue I have with his portrayal is that I think he leans too much on sounding British when Mark Hamill Joker's accent is more Transatlantic.
2:14:17 “A fitting end for his kind” The last line Batman had in his debut appearance in Detective Comics #27 way back in 1939… right after dropping Alfred Stryker in a vat of boiling acid
At this point Harleen has been "treating" Joker for a few months now and it's already difficult to say where Harleen Quinzel ends and Harley Quinn begins. I'm sure she wasn't an angel before but her downfall is still a little tragic.
The audio tapes from Origins suggest as much and I do feel a bit contradict her characterization here as someone who's only done some questionable things when forced to, but yeah, she was grey even before Harley Quinn.
Yeah, before becoming the agent of Chaos, Dr. Harleen Quinzel isn't really a good person. She isn't bad. She makes questionable choices when pressured by corrupt scumbags, but she tries her best to improve the health system in Gotham City. So, in her lowest point, the Joker came in and she became Harley Quinn, his first girlfriend.
@@umticyeah tbh I would've thought the same thing. Especially considering that to my knowledge matches was in his cell every knight and batman clearly was doing in the nights where matches was locked up.
I like how the interview tape between harley and joker kind of nods to/confirms the retcon from the two meeting in origins, with the theory being that the tapes in asylum must have been the two doing the "meeting for the first time roleplay" again
It's also a "When In Rome" reference with Selina travelling there to ask Louisa about her parentage. And yeah, I wished they brought Grey DeLeslie back, it would've been nice to hear how her Selina sounds like when she's casually talking to Bruce.
2:06:50 I appreciate that during the Fear Gas trip they kept the character designs consistent with the OG Arkham VR intro. Something that could’ve been completely over looked but they genuinely care so it’s nice to see it carry over

Joker said he has been locked up since BAOB, it stands to reason that Joker should NOT be the last boss you fight before you deal with Catwoman in canon. And since Black Mask is in a cell not far away, his ending isn't canon, either. Guess that leaves Penquin as the canon ending for Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate.
@SpanIsh-k3w no? Penguin getting out is his ending in blackgate so it means that the canon ending of Arkham origins blackgate is you beat penguin last leading to him escaping blackgate from a paid off guard helping him escape
1:14:14 Crane saying "Christ on conduct disorder" absolutely killed me. I love how they gave him his own sense of humour and swearing fit to his character.
I'm pretty sure Joker made the Bruce = Batman connection years ago. The only thing is that Joker doesn't give two shits about Bruce Wayne and considers that detail irrelevant.
I always love that idea too. I like to believe there’s some sort of code he follows in that both only interact when wearing their “real suits” as it wouldn’t be fun to him and that he’s the only one who gets to have the fun of knowing who Batman is and no one else is allowed to part take in that joke.
BAV is the only channel I will ever watch any Arkham Game content on. Other creators just talk too much and think they’re so smart and criticise alot of stuff which just takes the fun out of everything!
The way Bronze Tiger was able to so quickly pick up "Matches'" training from Kirigi is so awesome. That blew my mind when I heard him say that. I'm sure he picked that up on Batman as well during the second riot. Now if only he'd put the pieces together... two seemingly completely different people from Gotham who both trained under Kirigi...
To be fair, we only know three people by name who trained under him in the Arkhamverse. And since Matches keeps up the perception of east end scum wanting to get in with Falcone, Turner could probably put two and two together if he saw through that facade. After all, how would some lowlife thug survive the training, but keep to their life as a D-list criminal?
I really loved the Catwoman voice message in the answering machine, referencing the great When In Rome comic. Although funny that it can't happen as it does in the comics because she's accompanied by Riddler and faces down Scarecrow while she's there
@@themadtitan7603 that is just how jokers is for most incarnations. He never wants anyone to know who Batman is, not even himself. This game seems so well made. It’s got everything I wanted out of a sequel to Origins when it comes to the characters, story, and interactions. It just makes me sad I can’t experience it for myself because it’s made to only be playable for such a niche audience.
Man, this is such a treat! This could be the best Arkham story yet! It's certainly up there! This just proves there's a lot more room for stories in the Arkham timeline, and I'm very intrigued by Batman's rough-around-the-edges era! Especially with how masterfully these villains' origin stories are being weaved into the narrative--including some long-time, fan-requested appearances! The gameplay also looks excellent! Not to mention that it gave us our first Asylum-style game since... Asylum! (I only half-count Black Gate.) Not to mention, how *long this game is! We're 9 hours in, and we still have more to go! Even VR games that I was interested in before, like Horizon: Call of the Mountain, were only a few hours long, with a relatively bare gameplay loop. And the movement and combat certainly weren't nearly this varied, fluid, and engaging to watch! If *this* is what we can expect as the standard for VR in the future, then I'm *finally* interested in picking a headset up for myself! ...When I can afford it. Maybe someday...
Why no one speaks about how awesome Harleen Quinzel is portrayed in Arkham Shadow? I love this version of her. Voice actress and design did great too ❤

I feel like that one interview tape with Harley and The Joker cleared up the continuity issues with the interview tapes between them in Arkham Asylum. That’s literally all it took. Just Harley saying that The Joker likes to pretend that it’s their first time meeting during these tapes a lot for some reason
Anyone else catch that after defeating Crane he says he's feeling 'that primal fear from before we were human a millennia ago'. News flash, a thousand years ago, we were still human; that's like Viking era and whatnot.
The backstory timeline at 1:25:14 makes me confused. Arkham Origins said Cyrus Pinkney was in his 40s and faked his death in the 1850s, and Arkham City’s stories said that Arkham asylum was active in the late 1800s when Wonder City was functioning. Now Arkham Shadow is saying the asylum and these characters are in the 1900s and the asylum was made then?
They screwed up the dates on all of the Pinkney/Arkham related stuff, which is weird considering who well the rest of the game fits in the Arkhamverse. I hope BAV or other Arkham TH-camrs with access to Camouflaj devs can tell them about those mistakes so they can fix them with a patch or something.
I was wondering about that but I wasn't sure if I actually caught a mistake. It seems like they pushed the timeline forward to early 20th Century, closer to the comics.

That being said, Batman took the shock gloves and the remote claw from his enemies, so he's capable of stealing lol.
I just realized batman's got a batcaves everywhere, beneath his mansion, beneath black gate, beneath Arkham asylum, and beneath the movie studios
57:35 I love that Bronze Tiger recognized Master Kirigi’s training. Makes me want to watch Batman: Soul of the Dragon again
2:21:14 This clearly shows how Dr. Crane's mind broke, becoming the giggling, sadistic psychopath we know in Arkham Asylum.
I thought it was just supposed to be his first taste of his own medicine. I feel repeated experimentation & exposure to the toxin over the years made him the cackling maniac from Asylum.
@@themadtitan7603I think he’s seeing his inner shadow as well ..and he’s starting to like it.
@@themadtitan7603 even in asylum he's not like that all the time. if you listen to his patient interview tapes in asylum he is very capable of acting calm and collected, he just stopped caring about anything but fear/stopped pretending he cared about anything else
Troy Baker sounds amazing back as Joker. The voice does sound a tiny bit different than it did in Origins but i think it's just that he got better at voicing the character. Hope we can get more Arkham content with these two as Batman and Joker in the future
Yeah, I thought his voice sounded a bit different as well. The only issue I have with his portrayal is that I think he leans too much on sounding British when Mark Hamill Joker's accent is more Transatlantic.
2:14:17 “A fitting end for his kind”
The last line Batman had in his debut appearance in Detective Comics #27 way back in 1939… right after dropping Alfred Stryker in a vat of boiling acid
That’s actually and insane deep cut
Of course Firefly would take a liking to someone named "Matches".
i love how CO Robbins just doesn’t hear Joker call Matches Batman, multiple times😂😂
tbf he probably thought the Joker was saying insane ramblings rather than actually exposing Matches as Batman
@@umticyeah tbh I would've thought the same thing. Especially considering that to my knowledge matches was in his cell every knight and batman clearly was doing in the nights where matches was locked up.
I like how the interview tape between harley and joker kind of nods to/confirms the retcon from the two meeting in origins, with the theory being that the tapes in asylum must have been the two doing the "meeting for the first time roleplay" again
the fear toxin sequence is easily one of my favorite moments in vr. so much atmosphere its crazy. second is chapter 11 of half life alyx
Remember what Joker said in the Arkham Asylum beginning? "All thanks to you and a book of matches". *Matches* , anyone?
Honestly when he said matches it reminds me of the Dark Knight Trilogy where he burned a bunch of money
Mr. Fantastic and Plastic man are jealous of how far you can reach
Man i love the detail of man, matches and bruce sounding so different
1:07:14 Catwoman asking about her Falcone heritage, nice. Although, it’s weird that they couldn’t get Grey do voice her again
It's also a "When In Rome" reference with Selina travelling there to ask Louisa about her parentage. And yeah, I wished they brought Grey DeLeslie back, it would've been nice to hear how her Selina sounds like when she's casually talking to Bruce.
@ Leslie Gray? You mean Grey Delisle?
Well this is a younger Catwoman and plus I think she does a good job. I hope to hear more of her as Catwoman. She has potential is what I'm saying.
@@SpanIsh-k3w somehow she sounds older than the current catwoman
@@adamH.1 yeah. I can see that. Still, I like the voice.
THE BEST TIME OF THE WEEK
Bro had us salivating for this!
2:06:50 I appreciate that during the Fear Gas trip they kept the character designs consistent with the OG Arkham VR intro. Something that could’ve been completely over looked but they genuinely care so it’s nice to see it carry over
1:57:40 Crane always pulling guns lmao same shit later on Arkham Knight.
Arkham knight isint cannon
ARKHAM KNIGHT ISN'T CANNON
LETS GOOO episode 4 finally .. holy man .. I was literally about to go watch some other channel but holy lawd and grail ... I will take it may as well wait on the next one .. man this feels like old days waiting on a video for an anticipation just praying for it to come out sooner. 🙏 LAWD give me strength.
Earlier in the pigsty you can see on a board that penguin isn't in jail and that he might even be supplying weapons to the rats and other criminals
@@volpe7436so the game is straight up not canon?
@SpanIsh-k3w no?
Penguin getting out is his ending in blackgate so it means that the canon ending of Arkham origins blackgate is you beat penguin last leading to him escaping blackgate from a paid off guard helping him escape
27:03 Riddle of the Minotaur? Isn’t that the game that Riddler worked on in Batman: The Animated Series?
The very same
It is indeed. They just couldn't keep Eddie away from this game in any form.
YUP
Love how you constantly mess up the guys food that he’s cooking
What did Meals do to deserve this?
1:14:14 Crane saying "Christ on conduct disorder" absolutely killed me. I love how they gave him his own sense of humour and swearing fit to his character.
2:15 I feel like joker is a little smarter than we think
He’s always been.
Pretty sure In the comics Joker is fully aware of Batman's true identity as Bruce, so of course he'd be aware that Matches is Batman in disguise.
I'm pretty sure Joker made the Bruce = Batman connection years ago. The only thing is that Joker doesn't give two shits about Bruce Wayne and considers that detail irrelevant.
@@deshawnedwards6412 Is that in a specific continuity? Because as far I know, that hasn't been confirmed in the mainline canon.
I love Joker and Batman’s relationship in the Arkhamverse. It’s Crazy he knew batman was disguising himself.
Various people train under Kirigi. Is not as evident as you think.
"Shut up in there, willya!" Nice little hommage to original MGS🔥
I love that they put so many details and you are showing every detail to us meticulously, thank you
"A fitting end for his kind" is what Batman said in his very first comic after killing a mobster. The no-kill rule came a long time after his debut
I really loved the Catwoman voice message in the answering machine, referencing the great When In Rome comic. Although funny that it can't happen as it does in the comics because she's accompanied by Riddler and faces down Scarecrow while she's there
Hearing Roger say "I am Vengence I am Batman" made my day it was so freaking epic
These videos are the only way I find out what's happened in this game, I treat it like a series
Joker being able to tell by voice alone means he always known Batman is Bruce but never said anything about it because it will obviously ruin his fun.
Nop, he doesn't and you can see that when in AC doesn't want to know who he id
I feel it's still ambiguous because of the way he stops Harley from unmasking Batman sounding annoyed like he doesn't want her to reveal the secret.
@@themadtitan7603 that is just how jokers is for most incarnations. He never wants anyone to know who Batman is, not even himself. As a result some versions of Joker will always subconsciously suppress the knowledge everytime he comes close or manage to figure out the truth in anyway so he does not lie about not knowing Batman is Bruce since he has suppressed the knowledge so he always never knows.
@@orrthehunter Yeah, I'm just saying that City scene suggests he also might've not known because you said their interaction here means that he did. So it's still open-ended imo.
kinda of a retcon, But I don't mind it. I wonder if his knowledge had anything to do with with the arkham version of the killing joke.
FINALLY!!! PLEASE FINISH THE GAME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE I WANT TO SEE EVERYTHING BY YOU!!!
frank boles (officer balls) mention!! 16:04
"officer balls."
"BWAAAAAAHAHAHA!!!"
you can see him in the escort sequences and in a lot of tyger combat encounters
Nah that code switch when he's talking to the joker is freaking amazing. I just want Roger and Troy to be the new Batman and joker going forward.
EDIT: I never thought i see two batman adaptations that use "Batman:Ego" as part of the story. I LOVE IT
I think that might be the case
They'd be great successors in the roles imo & I'd love to see them carry the Arkham games going forward.
I mean, that's probably the case going forward since well y'know, one VA is sadly dead and the other VA retired his role.
The perfect walk-through of AS
Seriously, BAV hand gesture is what making his walk-through video top tier, incredible immerse feeling
20:48 Wait Firefly is also here? And Crispin return for the voice? Nice
Been enjoying this series so much. Love watching how into the game you are, with all the small movements they truly do add to the experience and really make me FEEL like i’m watching batman. Hats off to you my friend keep up the good work
Love how Batman is genuinely just f*cking around with his opps in jail
Kevin Conroy will always be the best Batman VA for me, but rogers Batman genuinely has so much more personality, probably cuz he gets to play younger Bruce
WHERE’S THE RAT KING BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
This is a really darn good game. Hate to say it, but this is a legit Arkham game snd blows the Arkham VR game outta the water,
1:46:58 Damn, Arkham Knight confirmed Superman, now we got Martian Manhunter too with this. Sweet. Guess these games build up the JL bit by bit.
Also, makes me think a lot of that cartoon, The Batman, which introduced Martian first to Bats before anyone else
Also The Question at 1:08:03
I love how we’re just gonna speak like SS isn’t canon, because it isn’t
1:52:07 "I'm a doctor, not a fortune teller." Also, sorry to cut the reference. Clashing dialogue from Injustice 2: Harley Quinn vs. Robin. I respect Tara Strong, Troy Baker, and Roger Craig Smith Amazing Voice Actors.

17:38 you can hear how rusty his Matches voice sounded since he’s just been talking to Joker with his Batman voice, that’s crazy detail
Nice one never noticed that.
That entire Scarecrow segment is what Insomniac should've done with the symbiote in Spider-Man 2, absolutely insane shit.
What I love best about BAV. Exploring every nook and cranny, unlocking every upgrade, getting all collectables, and even taking the time show every easter egg and references to the other games.
"Did anyone catch the game last night?"
*DING DiNg DinG diNG*
4:23 calling this a Metal Gear Solid homage! Dig it!
This game seems so well made. It’s got everything I wanted out of a sequel to Origins when it comes to the characters, story, and interactions. It just makes me sad I can’t experience it for myself because it’s made to only be playable for such a niche audience.
I've seen Quinn talking more before using the vent to go behind the glass in another playthrough. She was also affected by the gas.
2:14:05 no way it's the Arkham shadow....
"at last I have become Batman™ Arkham Knight"
8:50 Batman: I don't have time for jokes.
2:03:44
The way they portray Arnold is kind of adorable in a twisted way
Bro literally became Batman 🦇
Why no one speaks about how awesome Harleen Quinzel is portrayed in Arkham Shadow? I love this version of her. Voice actress and design did great too ❤
2:14:16 that quote is a reference to Batman’s first appearance in detective comics #27 before the no killing rule was established. That’s an awesome reference.
Walker - the only friend who won't turn really bad
1:46:38 i want to believe that's a Bat-Mite reference
14:59 troy baker just knocked out of the park in this game, his voice is much better than origins are there are some moments where he sounds exactly like hammil, amazing talent
"IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU, PATRICK"
I still like Walker. He seems like a really chill dude.
I also still sense he's hiding something that I don't wanna know about. I don't know what it is, and I don't wanna find out.
2:14:00 am I the only one getting some Batman: Ego vibes from this boss fight? Makes me wonder if the comic book was one of the inspirations for this game's story.
1:41:30 I love how your dusting yourself out! 😆
27:12 In the newspaper article “roku go ni, roku go ku ku” doesn’t that mean 652, 7599? A phone number that you can call in game maybe?
2:14:16 First Appearance reference! Camouflaj really are fans!
Hearing Roger say “I am vengeance!” Is so awesome!
I’m beginning to think Nigma is the Rat King…the clue is there the whole time (the trophies)
So underwhelming. The Rat King happens to be the green geek scattering Riddler trophies? Riddlculous
I kinda wish this game was on a console.
@@b.u.l.1734 I'm not sure if they'd patch that because a lot of it would require re-recording voice lines.
The only thing Crane has to fear is fear itself.
How fitting to implement the Scarecrow chapter into this day of stream. Happy Halloween, everyone!
Skip to 0:53 if the last vid has just been seen to.
1:15: Nooooo... he actually didn't escape Blackgate.
1:35: Fine, reality, further his moods.
Ironic. The Joker figured out Malone is Batman, but he doesn't seem to figure out Bruce Wayne. Unless he knows that too and keeps it to himself.
2:42: Of course he'll be uncooperative, but at least he ain't impersonating someone this time.
2:54: *Blow* up the city.
3:05: He fulfilled that, surely enough, even after the day the Joker died.
3:20: Reality bites.
4:58: So that's how the coin idea came. (In an aside, would be curious on how modders will check out these flashback scenes outside the second-person view.)

Is Robbins even hearing Batman talking, or is it that for the audience's benefit?
11:03: Huh. Even Mr. Dent has that signature duality?
12:22, 12:44, 13:10, 13:32: Simply put, these never happened in the main run.
14:09: There we go.

22:57: He too didn't escape Blackgate? That leaves us with only the Penguin, and even then, the lore in this game states that he got out because of testifying against CarmineFalcone. So much for Origins: Blackgate's endings.
22:52: Oh, Batman swore.
23:13: Ah, made him admit. Here's to hoping it wasn't a body double of his for that future Red Hood mission in Arkham Knight.

30:38: At least solitary hasn't brought Malone out of touch with some reality.
31:52: Last night?
35:35: No. He's compromising himself by being here.
Hold up, is Yamashiro... oh, snap.
40:36: Jack Ryder and Vic Sage stuff?
40:50: It sure is a long July in this game.
41:24: Right, right.
41:54: Now that sounds better in reality.
The choices at 42:35-43:48: Good talk, right through the mark.
43:50: Yes, you are.
Nothing to buy now?
44:19: Or a Batman.
47:44: Weaned him away from Bane, I see.
48:27, 49:27, and 50:35: Nice guy there. Neat thing about where Bird got his name though.
48:40, 49:48, and 51:09: Mean guy there. Such is Batman's reality.

57:45: Staying in cruel character, on reality.
Crane also had a hold on TYGER? Kinda explains his role with the later Arkham Knight's Militia.
58:41: Tiger, you're not supposed to talk about the Squad.
58:54: He's already hurt lots, even before becoming the Scarecrow.
59:16: But he'll spiritually and symbolically break the Bat before that happens. Hence, Knightfall.
59:44: Interesting detail, the noose coming from the later renamed Scarface. Wait, the other CO isn't named Woody.
1:00:41: Many thanks for the free poster! Such a chill guy.

1:46:37: If only she were voiced by Hynden Walch.
1:47:30: Patient Tape about Dr. Quinzel and the Clown Prince of Crime. Seems to be an interquel to those Arkham Asylum tapes.
1:51:10: Same goes to her future self.
The events of Asylum, City+ Harley Quinn's Revenge, Knight+that Arkham Episode featuring her, and maybe KtJL sure would flash on a player's/viewer's mind during the walk with Dr. Quinzel. Music ain't helping too.

1:59:01: Maybe? More like an affirmative.
2:00:48: Almost just like that scene in Batman: The Animated Series' "Two-Face: Part 1". Deserved it, though, that goon.
Feels wrong, giving Wesker Woody.
2:04:23: That song is The Rat Pack's "Me And My Shadow".
2:05:26: We all know how this goes with experience in Asylum and Knight in mind. Can't be helped, but at least this can be justified because it is Batman's first experience.
2:05:56: A tea stalk is up, so of course.
It's always Crime Alley.
2:06:54: Hello. Joe Chill, was it?
2:07:11: Arkham Origins. Batman vs. Joker on Blackgate chapel. *That's the Bat-Man vision the Joker saw.*
Bruce Wayne was just a child. How COULD he, really?
2:09:13: How nostalgic, series chronology aside.
Guilt tripping the audience and the Batman at this point, as should be expected yet also welcomed.
2:11:44: Heh, hallucinatory does. Bring it.
A giant, Fear Toxin-imagined, evil Batman. Didn't KtJL also do that?
2:16:18: How dare it say that, and yet be more awesome and respectful than KtJL's own giant Batman?!?
