You should be finding the little arctic supplies caches. Sometimes they are hidden a bit, but they are so helpful. A one site I got 64 flax grain, 64 blue clay, 64 linen twine and 64 grass. I made 3 linen sacks, repaired some of my gear and a dozen torches. I still needed stone or flint, so it took a little while before I found some stone in a tower. Still no flint, but now I can make an axe and firewood.
I know this is months late... but keep in mind that a "Camp Fire" before its lit or after its cooled can be used as storage for a large number of items. One item in the cook slot and one in the fuel slot. So you can basically have 2 slot storages for the price of 1 grass, sure you need the firewood to build it first but that can be reclaimed. Its niche as hell but can be a very valuable bit of knowledge for early game.
More please! I'm enjoying this, yet I can certainly see that it's tough going. I think you're right about finding a place to settle soon. If the foxes and other animals spawn in designated areas it might be good to build a shelter near them, like an igloo out of snow and ice - even if it's temporary. Plus it might help to mark a trail for you if you had to return for something?
I think a better series challenge would be to start in frozen climate on a world with poles and an equator. That way you are forced to deal with the cold but with the promise of being able to progress in the game. In a snowball world, its about basic survival and building and crafting take a back seat. I understand the appeal to challenge yourself though.

i am loving this challenge, i have a question is there hot mechanics like the cold ones so you could try a dune lets play surviving on a hot world? i am new to the game and dont know

It is alot harder without better ruins judging by the other two playthroughs I've seen on youtube.
Yep, I am sure :) Better ruins doesn't change the bear spawns though or the goodies in the vessels :)

@@HypnotiqueAKAHypi I think some of the gravesites have reusable chests you can take, but you have that lovely vessel now so probably not needed.
