I know it's a rather simple game, but in retrospect, Komodo Joe's post race speech is surprisingly intruiging. Him saying " *We're* going to lose *our* planet" means that the bosses are technically on your side (I always played as Crash), they're just antagonistic because if *you* screw up, *everyone* loses.
As a kid I never realized that until rewatching them, I just assumed since they're bosses that oxidie hired them or something but yeah now this is a lot more interesting.
after seeing the remastered version of this, i think i prefer the original, it makes oxide seem a lot more menacing and the music for his speech is a lot better imo

Might be because of the voice. Because this is one of the more unique voices for a bad guy. The remastered one, while not bad, just felt bland, at least by comparison.
@unrealdwarf1 If I recall correctly (and my personal experience trying to imitate it makes me believe it) the original voice actor hated doing the role because the voice was incredibly taxing on his vocal cords (and that's a valid concern; damaging the vocal cords is putting your livelihood at risk as a voice actor.) Corey Burton being one of the most expert voice actors working today, knows how to not do that - but in the process he didn't pick a voice that was suitably threatening and alien-sounding to compensate. Corey Burton just wasn't given good direction on Nitro-Fueled period, however; his performance as Oxide and N. Tropy in Nitro-Fueled is oddly stilted.
The cutscene models looks insanely good for the PS1, full of detail and the facial animation, arguably the best models i ever seen on the era. They even put little touches like Papu Papu moving belly. Oxide is also crazy looking and its so cool that his mouth its fully articulated and it adapts on the different languages. Not even the remakes had a so perfect lip sync.
0:48 "But if I win... >:) ..." This line was done better here than in the remake. Whoever voiced Nitrous in the remake did a phenomenal job, but that line right there, SO much scarier here!
They did the same thing in the Aladdin movie. The lyric "He's got slaves, he's got servants and flunkies" was turned into "he's got ten thousand servants and flunkies".
Hector Canchola Reminds me of _Thor: Ragnarök_ when Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster says "Oh, I don't like that word; let's call them unpaid workers," or something to that effect.
Since Nitro Fueled is going to have Oxide playable in all modes, including Adventure Mode. I wonder if we are going to get an alternate ending where Oxide wins and we actually get to see him turn the Earth into a concrete parking lot.
They've shown off the opening cutscene and Ripper Roo's cutscenes. They made a few dialogue changes, though. Oxide now threatens to make us his "minions" instead of his "slaves", and Ripper Roo adds that you should get your head checked if you think you can beat Oxide.

Tbh, as menacing as some of the remade boss intros were, I think this one still hits somewhat harder -- Ripper Roo in particular isn't the same without that screechy, deranged laugh, and even Komodo Joe's voice is more menacing here, even if his intro is more threatening in the remake. I like Pinstripe's outro here more as well. He's otherwise appearing to "prank" you in the remake, while here he's rolling his eyes like "yeah, we're beyond screwed". Not like Oxide gets treated any better in Crash 4...He's then stuck having to deal with the Tropy Twins...

You forgot 1 cutscene and that cutscene is the one where Oxide says that he's impressed that you got all the relics before you raced him a 2nd time.
