TV was so good growing up, even PBS was LIT! I wish they had an app or a channel like Teen Nick's The Splat where we could watch classic PBS shows like Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego?, Lamb Chop's Play-Along, 3-2-1 Contact, Shining Time Station, Square One TV, etc.
I'd prefer the starting weekday lineup be like this (considering some subchannels often show two back-to-back episodes): 6:00am-7:00am: 3-2-1 Contact 7:00am-8:00am: Square One TV 8:00am-10:00am: Sesame Street (seasons 1-30; they can leave seasons 31-now up to HBO and HBO Family) 10:00-11:00am: Between the Lions 11:00am-12:00pm: Lamb Chop's Play Along 12:00pm-1:00pm: Shining Time Station (after rerunning the first three seasons, they can also air the Family Specials and episodes of Mr. Conductor's Thomas Tales) 1:00pm-2:00pm: Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood 2:00pm-3:00pm: Barney & Friends (1992-2000) 3:00pm-4:00pm: The Magic School Bus 4:00pm-5:00pm: Arthur (seasons 1-10) 5:00pm-6:00pm: Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? 6:00pm-8:00pm: Sesame Street (seasons 1-30, but the episodes that came after what aired between 8:00am and 10:00am) 8:00pm-9:00pm: Reading Rainbow 9:00pm-10:00pm: Zoobilee Zoo (and yes, this show HAD aired on PBS on a few occasions back in the 80s and 90s on some affiliates; to fill the half-hour time slot, show an episode of Thomas & Friends from seasons 1-4 narrated by Ringo Starr (1-2) or George Carlin (1-4), seasons 5-6 narrated by Alec Baldwin, and season 7 narrated by Michael Brandon) 10:00pm-11:00pm: Ghostwriter 11:00pm-12:00am: Zoom (70s episode at 11:00pm, 90s episode at 11:30pm) 12:00am-6:00am: Sign-off The lesser shows can air during the weekend (w/Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego airing during the 5:00pm hour), along with repeats of some shows that aired during the weekdays.
I would have to agree with you, and have Present Day Celebrity's Giving Out the Clues, Like, Actor Adam Driver, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Hanks, Sigourney Weaver, Idina Menzel, John Travolta, Richard Dreyfus, Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, John Cena, etc. etc.
world geography. Most schools only cover parts of different countries, and the US, not places like Asia and Europe, at least not in this kind of level of detail, knowing specific types of climates, flora, fauna, etc.
Wow, watching this pilot shows how different the final show was (especially with the second round, where they didn't do the mandatory loot-warrant-crook order the aired episode did).
@@shaunganley I can agree with that, as the order did make the show short to the point of adding Rockapella doing Zombie Jamboree before the end credits in order to fill in the remaining run time. Also, the winning gumshoe does not pull a chain to put the bars down on the villain, which I think was added in to allow interactivity between the gumshoe and the villain.
This is VERY different from the final version of the show, from not requiring the loot-warrant-crook order to having flags instead of markers for the last round. It's kind of surreal to watch.
@@sailorvgirl132002 Casting for Ghostwriter began in 1990 , and they started shooting the pilot in early 91 . Both shows were were shot in New York , with Carmen Sandiego at Kaufman Astoria Studios in Astoria Queens . The irony is that Greg Lee would later appear on the episode " Who is Max Mouse ? " in 1993.
I was thinking on the pilot episodes instead of subtracting the crime bucks whatever they're right or wrong, I would keep it the same if right & subtract 10 in the 1st half of the round & subtract 15 in the second round & have them wager 10,20,30,40 or 50 acme crime bucks and probably 0 too in the 2nd pilot.
I like that idea, also I think 125 is too complicated of a number, even doing it this way, they should have started at 100 or even 90. Additionally, I agree, it makes no sense to take away points no matter what, while it makes sense that traveling costs money, it doesn’t fit with how game shows generally operate. I’m definitely much happier with the start at 50 and 10 if you are correct format
Or maybe start with 150 & then subtract the ten on the right answers & subtract 15 from the wrong answers & wager 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 acme crime bucks in the 1st pilot & add the 0 wager to the 2nd pilot
I saw this episode late in its first season only to realize the rule change for this episode. This was actually the pilot episode from this rule change for that one time on this.
I hated the last season. They ruined the map. They should have just kept it USA. It got even harder. As a 9 year old nobody knew Geography or states and capitols like myself. My schools never emphasized them so I got Cs in Social Studies as I was more into the Geography aspect. I knew all of USA and South America and the locations. Some of Europe, Asia and Africa. But USA and South America I was excellent at. If I was at the show and got to the map I would have killed it. I know they did some sort of travelling show or something one time which they showed on TV parts in a commercial and one boy was rushing at the USA map on a wall...that would have been me. I knew all the USA.
R.I.P Lynne Thigpen, she was a great chief!
RIP Still miss her from "The Warriors."
Luna
1 of the things I love the most about the newer cartoon series is that the Chief is a total tribute to Lynne Thigpen, even sounding a lot like her
Oh she passed?
Lean on me.

If they should reboot anything, it should be this show!
Mr. Indigo who would replace the chief?

Reboot it with Greg Lee as the host again. And chief not sure who
Traci Ellis Ross as chief

Yeah
Based on the current comprehension of geography, I would say this show needs a serious comeback.

They need both this and the video games rebooted
Patty leaving a warning note 😂
zombie jamboree being sung here love this show
Love how they got away with the swearing in the chorus. An example of what TV Tropes calls “getting crap past the radar”.
well I never thought I would see the full version of this episode again

So Patty Larceny was the very first Carmen Sandiego crook

and the Double Dare sound effects.
For the last round the host reads off some facts/clues about the states before saying their name. They changed it later to just saying the location.
Also how they do scoring
Yes it should be rebooted with the lighting round. The map and the loot warrant crook
was that Gaby from ghostwriter (the girl who threw the fish)?
+Jose Vazquez Looks like it is, but I'm not sure
Jose Vazquez that's her. This was before she was on Ghostwriter. I think this was either before the pilot or after the pilot
Yup, that's the original Gaby.

They seriously need to reboot this game show and the video games!
Sherri shepherd or Loni Love should be the new Chief if there's a reboot
S. Epatha Merkerson is the more ideal Chief.
I was thinking Christy Knowings from All That.
