Travel back in time to an era when drag racing was shown on ABC's sports variety show "Wide World of Sports" and in a time when there was Indy, and nothing else mattered. You'll see some of drag racing's legends, including former mega team owner Don Schumacher driving a fuel Funny Car, Don Prudhomme, Billy Meyer, Top Fuel icons Don Garlits and Gary Beck. This might be the best 30 minutes you spend today.

I was ten years old in 1974 and totally miss the seventies drag racing at Englishtown n.j. I'll never forget watching jungle Jim's wheel stand against black magic funny car. Jungles wheel stand went three quarters of the way down the track, it was an unbelievable showmanship of driving skills in top fuel I miss jungle jim and the seventies drag racing. The burnouts were so cool back then before they used water great era of racing.

I'm glad I got to witness those days. So much more exciting to me than the drag racing of today.

Awesome memories. My dad and I made our annual trips to our hometown US Nationals, the Springnationals in Columbus OH, and the Sportnationals in Bowling Green KY. Although they did not run Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock in Bowling Green, they ran Pro Comp which debuted in 1974. A Dragsters, A Altereds and BB Funny Cars on alcohol running in a heads up class.

So cool seeing the Early Hemi Donovan engines at the top of the food chain . It was the better foundation but never received the big R and D funds that the other one did.

I remember you had to be eighteen years old to be permitted in the pits that totally sucked lol. Me and my brother and friends went to the dragstrip at E- town all the time.

I wish I could go back at that time in racing where political scumbags weren't trying to destroy our country and turn it into socialist communism we need to keep the faith and pray for the USA the greatest country the world has ever seen. Freedom forever.

You and me both Mike. I remember seeing the Green Elephant for the first time at Seattle International Raceway (now Pacific) when they hosted 64 Funny Cars. Great times. Plus I frequented Puyallup Raceway Park (now gone.) But I still have my pictures from back then. Plus I just got the 1/16 scale model of the Green Elephant. Take care.
