    You are so right about changing colors! I look forward to the next change and it keeps me moving. My other "trick" is to alternate between another pattern/project - 15 minutes on project A, 15 minutes on project B, 15 on A, 15 on C, 15 on A and keep going for the amount of time I have. Even when I don't have much time, I still try to get a row or two before bed...every stitch moves you toward the end.

    I so agree! I’m working on my 2nd sampler blanket. Different colors and stitches. I’m so excited to see the blanket develop and evolve!

    Hi Brittany. Very pretty pattern. Lately I’ve been making my blankets with blanket yarn, lol. They work up fast. I love this stitch. It is like a V stitch. I made 2 cowls using a pattern by the late great Melanie Ham and it was this stitch. I need to get out my finished objects and start wearing them! Love the stripes idea. Thanks for sharing.❤

    Great pattern. I like that the stitches are tighter. We have several gifted double-crocheted afghans that we love. However, fingers, toes, and dog paws get caught in the open stitches. Great teaching! Continued blessings!

    I found the changing color thing so inspiring to make me want to do more! I believe it was your blue and cream striped blanket that inspired me initially to get back into crochet after a very long time. I love the look of using 2 different colored yarns at once with a mix of solid colors in between to make a very colorful throw. I like to keep the stitches very simple, half double crochet into the back of the loop gives a nice ribbed finish.

    Thank u for this lovely blanket tutorial! Honestly, blankets are my fave to crochet and have never gotten bored with making them, per se. They're the perfect project for mindless crochet in front of the tv or listening to an audiobook-esp. if there's simple stitches used. ❤

    I would love to see a tutorial on how to knit the Simple Knit Pullover from Yarnspirations, or a raglan knit sweater using a bulky 5 yarn. And yes, striping does keep attention more to a blanket, and it helps you see the progress when you feel like you're crocheting for days, and it doesn't feel like it's growing.

    You can weave in the ends as you go. I crochet over mine, or you can weave them in before you start another row. Save a great deal of time. This is the way I was taught. JS

    Hi Brittany……I LOVE this stitch and your blanket. I’ve never seen this DC stitch before and will definitely be using it for this next blanket.
    My next blanket is for my great nephew and will be using his favorite football team colors….so this is perfect stitch & pattern for his blanket.
    I watched your video for the random stripes generator…..wow what a game changer. Thank you for sharing.

    I make really short double crochets, too. If I chain to build up height, I only chain 2. I usually do a stacked single crochet, though

    A nice foundation pattern. Use your imagination flow with possibilities.
    I, too, use the magic knot. 😊
    I use the no chain dc stitch. (Turn. SC in the first stitch. SC into the SC you just made.) Wala, DC stacked SC.
    This can also be done for the TC. (Same as DC but add 1 more SC)

    This looks beautiful! Will this work with a Yarn Bee brand chunky yarn?

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Glad you like it! If you use a chunkier yarn, your gauge will be different so the blanket sizes in the pattern will actually turn out bigger. That’s not to say you can’t use it though! If it were me, I’d keep chaining until it’s as wide as you want (making sure it’s an odd number). Then just follow the stitch instructions you saw me walk through in the video!

    I've never tried to do a gauge swatch before, but I want to learn so I can maybe one day make a sweater. LOL - When you say drop or go up a size - with a starting hook of 6.5 mm would go be to 7 or 7.5mm? Is one size considered a whole mm or half a mm?

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question! I usually go up (or down) to the next hook size. So 7 mm or 6 mm for this pattern. That usually works best for me, but it all depends on how far off your gauge is. If it’s very different, I’d maybe try a whole mm difference 👍

  • @doxiediane6274
    @doxiediane6274 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    But what if ur not lucky and the new color doesn’t line up at the end?

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That’s a good point! It’s all in where you cut the loop. If you pull up just enough on that working loop to remove the hook, and cut right in the middle, it always works out for me. If it’s close but not quite at the end, you can always tweak the tension on that stitch (crochet it tighter or more loosely) to get it to sit just right.

      @ thanks but no thanks. I have rheumatoid arthritis and tendonitis as well in my wrist. What does help is wearing a brace or compression gloves when crocheting.

  • @cbender8529
    @cbender8529 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Yes, but: in order to change a colour, a new string of yarn has to be attached..... For me "this" is the biggest problem. I always have to decide between "ongoing fear that the choosen type of knot will not work for a long time" and a big bulb of weaved in / crocheted in yarn ends. The best solution for me is yarn that has already different colours in one skein/ ball.
