Well he is. He started out as also a villain (well, in the comics) and ended up becoming an official member of the team. Both have invisibility, phasing abilities, flight, lazers, strength, mental abilities, etc.
The EMH version is the best. The one from the MCU has only become useful and interesting lately. He finally stopped being an underused nerfed punchbag.
After Age of Ultron, Vision got royally screwed over. They tried to give him a badass moment with Hawkeye but thats like giving Bucky a badass moment by beating up a middle school chess player. He was completely useless in the Civil War battle, and in Infinty War he has to be saved by Captain fuckin America TWICE. And he still ends up dying. TWICE. Hopefully he gets some kind of redemption in Wandavision. Hes literally worthy of Thor's hammer and he got shafted worse than Hulk.

I actually hate the mcu version of vision. He doesn't look like an android at all, just a guy with red paint on. He looked great in the cartoons though!
