Rafe (OLTL) was the first (of many) soap actor I met while working at my first summer job in NYC. I got his autograph for my Mom. I was more of GH fan :)
For anybody's information: The man who played Asa Buchannon on One Life To Live, that's Phillip Carey, who played in the 1953 musical CALAMITY JANE. He played the role of Danny, Calamity's heartthrob until she fell in love with Bill Hickcock played by Howard Keel.
Isn't it amazing how Michael Zaslow and Robin Strasser did a scene together. Robin "originated" The Role of Rachel on Another World that some say was the Prototype for Erica Kane on All My Children. Michael Zaslow wrote for Another World and his TV Father Adam Thorpe played Wayne Addison on Another World and then Les Bogard on All My Childrne.
I remember these Promos. I only watched All My Children but so much talent came from those shows. RIP Michael Zaslow, Phil Carey. In the UK they show Soaps but they are more diversified. They have Black Actors and Indian (Hindu) Actors. They are also more Gay Friendly. They did the first Same Sex Kiss on Brookside in 1994.
GL fired him because he got ALS In a move worthy of day time at its best, Zaslow was then rehired at One Life to Live in 1998 to resume the part David Renaldi again, appearing first in May of that year, his condition being written into the storyline. He made numerous appearances over the next seven months before he was too ill to continue working. I remember one of his relatives being on soap talk on soapnet talking about how One Life to Live gave him such a massive gift at the end, they gave him the ability to go out on his own terms and to go back to doing something he loved and had been doing since the sixties Some of the scenes with him and Dorian were so amazing and heartbreaking all at the same time
This is great. I'd never seen most of these. Some of the ads are just embarrassing (like poor Delila and her dancing), and some are very good (like the one about Luke's club). How long did that weird "it's a great day" jingle last? I had to laugh when "Love in the Afternoon" kept leading to clips of a psycho terrorizing the hospital.
1983 was gh best era!!!!! .....i looooooved celia and jimmy lee....also the murder mystry of susan baldwin...robert and holly...the promithious disc story...that was when soaps were worth watvhing...now garbage... .
this is the era when soap operas were at the top of their game!
