    My dad built that bridge!
Ok, he had some help, but he was on it!! 🤣
We lived in Gellatly Street, near the North end of the bridge, in the tenaments, opposite the labour exchange.
We later moved out to the 'posh' suburb of Mid Craigie!! (Mauchline Ave)

Does anyone know where the picture (5:20) was taken from? I was thinking it was maybe the park in Invergowrie but the house roof tops in the foreground, just behind the trees, don't match any house around the park today. Thanks

You are correct, this view is of the park in Invergowrie. The multi-storey flats at Menzieshill are quite prominent in the background.
I took all these monochrome photographs for this video about 1960. The negatives, in 2016 were not in the best condition when I tried my first YT video.
      Thanks for your interest.

no wonder people say after visiting dundee "its actually bigger than what it looks" if these videos and recent ones are to go by as they only show the town centre

I lived in Dundee between 1985 and 1990 while at university and loved my time there and have very fond memories of it, but it is sobering to think these photos are closer to my years there than today is!

Nice montage ruined by out of place (and wrong decade) crappy jazz noise.

Thanks for sharing. My grandparents lived on the top of the Angus, my GF was the caretaker for the Overgate development from 65 to 83. Is the music Cannonball Adderly? I happen to like crappy jazz stuff, and Dundee was the birthplace of may fine UK exponents of modern jazz, notably Jimmy Deuchar and John McLevy.

These images are frames from two, consecutive films from my 'new' camera in the early sixties. No doubt the date could be discovered by checking on the demolition of the Overgate. The Tay Road Bridge was opened on 18th June 1966 so all shots of its construction are before then. There is no mention of Forfar Road.

lordpitnolen....oops sorry my mistake - apologies!!.....the pic @3.12 looks very very similar to the new forfar road at powrie brae when under construction.
