    I bought out a 29 year old bike shop that I was working at. I bought it under duress because there was virtually zero inventory due to the covid shortages. It worked out great for me and we might have the best year on record this year (since 2008).

      The key Stephan is volume. You need to have a solid, systematized programmatic outreach program where you identify your acquisition criteria and then create a target list of at least a few thousand prospective acquisitions. Then, start automated outreach and keep going until you find your deal.

    Love the vids - but just some feedback, the high pitched screeching text transition sound effect is pretty tough to listen to as frequent as it is.

      This is why you need an audio engineer to mix your audio. There are some things that you can do in a daw that you can't do in an editing program. Like his voice could be brought way more forward to get it away from the beat playing in the background. His voice is actually fighting with the music. This video really needed an instrumental without drums. You're making educational videos of money, I expect this more from a music production video. This is why when I make videos after I edit i bring all my tracks into and session and mix all the audio. But video people only worry about video..

    Great point. See some interesting comments here that indicate lots of different perspectives.
    I work with businesses on Revenue Ops who need to leapfrog to the next stage. A lot of these are early stage (angel/VC funded starups), while others are privately owned. Most are market disrupting, others are BOBs…
    For investing/ownership, the intent determines your method. As Roland started this clip, he explained Buffet’s parameters, and his philosophy. The “what” he does, “why” he does it.
    Pretty sure Roland covers this somewhere - it really depends on the outcome you want. BOBs are great for building your portfolio!
    If you have a mission to bring/back market disrupting solutions to the world - that’s another type of play. Higher risk, longer road, more risk/more potential return.

    Roland, I love all your wisdom that you share, very sound advice! One question, though, where do you find all these businesses that are for sale?

    • @RolandFrasierEPIC
      @RolandFrasierEPIC  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks Vernon. I have several ways to find them that I break down in my free challenge GetEpicChallenge.com The best ones are not for sale. If you want to look at those that are listed, then sites like Empire Flippers, BizBuySell and similar sites can be helpful. To find off-market deals, you have to identify your acquisition criteria and then go looking for businesses that meet your criteria. Finding those in small groups like masterminds and networking groups can work, but if you want to do it at scale then you will want to query sites and services like ZoomInfo to get a list and start reaching out via email, calls, and direct mail.

    Boring businesses are quite interesting assets. But how to deal with taking the owner/operator position when you are not looking to buy a job?

    • @RolandFrasierEPIC
      @RolandFrasierEPIC  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Lots of options there. So,d times owners stay and want to work, just not have the hassles of ownership. You can promote other employees to manager operator. Contractors, consultants or suppliers to the business may want to step in and be operator. Partner with an operator from another business by merging. Hire from your network. Use a recruiter.

    I don’t know about buying small businesses. A lot of the employees may not like the new owners or may see the sale as an opportunity to go out and start their own business and taking their clients with them. Also a lot of small businesses are involved in some very shady stuff. A business that launders money for example would show high profits but a big part of that profit is going out the back door.

      You have to decide what your acquisition criteria is and then you can get lists from Google, directories, services like DataAxle and ZoomInfo, Crunchbase, Pitchbook, Hoovers, etc. In terms of categories it could be pretty much any brick and mortar product or service business, laundromats, parking lots, roofing contractors, solar installers, mini-storage, car washes, etc.

    People invest in startups because they hope to multiply their investments by an X fold, because people want to "get rich overnight". You can't do that with an already established business whose market cap is already inflated. And chances are, even if you look for, and find an established business that is "undervalued", you still won't be able to buy enough of it to make a decent income through dividends.

    • @AlexXanderMarketing
      @AlexXanderMarketing ปีที่แล้ว +2

      People buy crypto and 0Dte’s because they want to multiply their money and get rich overnight. Most people looking to buy businesses have a far longer and more realistic timeline.

      @@AlexXanderMarketing Absolutely Alex! They can generate income and wealth with much more certainty and consistency and while it rarely happens overnight, it can still be in a relatively short period of time.

    • @RolandFrasierEPIC
      @RolandFrasierEPIC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Pawninwordsandsoon. I think there are a lot of start-up investors, including many of my friends who regularly invest in start-ups who are not looking to get rich overnight, so much as they are looking for those tomorrow’s unicorn investments that will generate those X fold returns you mentioned. A lot of those people realize it will likely be several years before the investments payoff and payout, but they are okay with that. Definitely different from the get rich quick crowd, but certainly those people exist as well. I do believe that there are quite a few businesses out there that do not have inflated market caps, particularly the ones we seek out which are off market and owned by motivated sellers. They are truly under-valued because the sellers either do not know how to or are not willing to go through the selling process which by the admission of the largest small and medium sized business marketplaces only result in a sale about 20% of the time. When you acquire a business like that, you are typically able to receive income distributions relatively quickly if not immediately.

      Yes. I’m an Angel investor, CPA, and former F500 finance vp, as well now as serving as CFO to multiple startups. What I see most commonly for professional Angel investors is an expected timeline of 5-7 years and if the investment shows promise, they are generally comfortable with longer.
      I also have been exposed to private equity and in that game the buy in for a serious fund can be quite significant (no less than $200k and professional investors go in for millions) and the capital lock up periods are typically 10 years+.

    I'm new to the channel and it seems like there is really great content, but Its been hard for me to listen to it because of the scratching sound effect which really hurts my ears. I hope this feedback helps other listeners 🙏🏼

    Hey Roland, I really like your arguments about boring old companies, though I would like to know why your background music also has to be so boring and monotone that it only çontain two cords. How about having me creating a track which suits your in depth and intelligent message?

    • @onepurposeonemission8162
      @onepurposeonemission8162 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Don't ask... just do it and create a track for Roland. If he likes it, I'm sure he'll want more. Lead with value first!! Roland's #1 motto!

    Please turn the music off. It not only adds zero value, it actually detracts as it makes it hard to focus and listen (at least for me). I, otherwise, love your content and approaches.

    I have about 140k today because of an injury settlement. I do armed security at 83k a year, i have been in security for years, I fucking hate it...sorry for my language. I am 31 years old and i am a veteran. I been thinking of buying a business using about 100k to get an sba loan. i know you mention about seller finance but i do have "actually" business experience in the united states. Would a business allow me to do an audit on their business to see if they are truly a profitable business? because i will not know if they are truly profitable unless i hire the expert auditors.

      Yes, I love the plan to get you out of the business you hate and into a great business you own and love. Any legitimate business would be willing to let you have access to and verify their financial and banking information before you closed a deal.

    Do you have a CPA and lawyer for your business deals?

    • @RolandFrasierEPIC
      @RolandFrasierEPIC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @jereyjack I do. I always use a lawyer. CPA not as often but on bigger deals yes.
