- Yup. I know. Trust me, I know. I had to do this though. I am SO happy I did. It's a fresh start. I have my healthy hair again. I love my curls. I feel sexy, confident, and accomplished. It will grow back but I reached my goal of having long hair and I am having fun exploring this short hair!!

You can tell there are some older, southern hand, type women in the comments. Those are women who still believe a woman's hair is HER! I loved the long hair and also the short. Her texuture is such that styling her short hair would be effortless and culs will always be poppin. Her face is cute & sometimes short hair brings more attn to facial features. I did the big chop almost 3 years ago from having hair that was a little longer than bra strap length all of my life. I walked in the house with a pixie cut & handed my mom & husband the ponytail. They were speechless. I love my hair though as I’m on my healthy hair journey. Your hair was and still is absolutely beautiful

Over the years i learned it’s not that big of a deal it grows back and .edu says short hair isn’t beautiful too? I feel more grown abs sexy now than I did before 😂
Coming to TH-cam is such a big help. I have been relaxed since I was about 7 or 8. Last week I turned 28 and this week I decided NO MORE🙅🏽♀️ soooo my husband shaved my hair off for me and I feel more free than ever. So happy to be starting my natural hair journey.😍 I hope the best for you on your journey as well. PS. My daughter is 8 and she’s always been natural. She is super excited that her momma has joined her.

I like the new cut but your long hair was not that bad you could have gotten a good trim and treated the heat damaged hair but I get change is good we get frustrated I did the same thing so now I’m not starting all over with my hair
Diamond Hill yeah I definitely didn’t have to go this short. I just wanted something different! And yes if you still want the length you should only chop off what’s necessary. Either way it grows back! 💕

I am hairdresser for 25 years owned 3 salons, and deffinately think you did not have to go that short.....since the thickness was coming in good...hair and scalp oil treatments help with this process.

I did the same exact thing and my hair was only bra strap length but ppl still went crazy and long hair is only praised so much in the black community cause lots of black women believe black hair doesn't grow but I've never had an issue lol it just takes lots of live and time and lowkey HIGHKEYYYY black hair education but thank god for TH-cam

I did the absolute same thing last year and I’m so happy that I did. Yeah, I could’ve just kept getting trims and let the damage grow out but I was just ready to have my curls back. It feels so healthy and new. I love it, looks beautiful on you btw! ☺️

I just big chopped too! the new growth was just putting my damage pieces to shame... I had too. I wish my damage looked like yours, it was still very wavy. But I know the feelings I wanting my real curls from root to tip.
