Omg this is actually close to what I do 😁 Usually I skim the stimulus, underline/box key terms (based on importance), figure out as much as I can from the source (how it may affect the writing, who wrote it, what background, ect.), and then answer the question.
Thank GOD for this video! Ive been doing terribly on my mcqs because im not doing them right. I’ll be sure to send this to as many of my ap friends as possible so they can also learn how to do mcqs properly.
Heimler!! I ADORE you and your videos. But one thing I want you to talk about is what to do if you like to yap when you write - and end up writing so much you run out of time. How do you keep your writing (specifically SAQs) focused?!
Hai I may not be heimler, but I have gotten full scores on my saq’s! I technically “yap” a lot too in my saqs, but what I do to stay in the time limit is always try to keep what I am saying as relevant as possible to the prompt. Prompts usually ask for one example, like one change, one cause, effect, etc., so you should try to only explain that one example without having to repeat yourself with other ones. Another thing, read all the prompts before you answer, so you can remind yourself what you still need to write, so you don’t accidentally extend your response further than need be.
write them exactly like this: assertion: this is where you just restate the question as a statement. if it’s saying what the change of blank rewrite that with your answer but keep it broad that way u can have more specific evidence fall under that. evidence: basically what key term backs up what you are claiming. commentary: “this shows” and relate that evidence to how that is able to back up ur assertion. using this everytime guarantees full marks and is able to make ur saq 3-4 sentences and very to the point.
I’m strongly confident that heimler has telepathy because I was wondering how the MCQs worked and then BAM 💥 there’s a video about it on my for you page.
Heimler I have a very important question. Prior to Apush exam, can you or do you do live kahoots? Mr sin did this and it helped me so much during AP hug. People would donate and have a good time while practice for the test.
Idk how, i never took an AP before and my first one was world histroy, and i was the best at MCQs in my class and got 2 perfects on my unit exams, something my teacher never had in his 20 years, my strategy, idk i just like pick the most clear one, if there is no clear one ill check my time and either just pick one or think it through
great tips as always, really appreciate it! i do well on MCQs but for some reason i actually do better on the writing portions so i def need to bump up my MCQ points, anyone else have any tips for that? usually i'm stuck between two answers that both seem right
check which one makes more sense with the stimulus. remember the answer is a claim and that can be backed up by the stimulus as evidence. more often than not the two options are fully correct, however, one makes more sense with the stimulus than the other (generally that is also the option that isn't as much "common knowledge" than the other).
@@pandathegaminglegend5700 alright thanks a lot! i think i overthink the answer choices sometimes and try to make it connect indirectly with the stimulus, but i'll try to keep this in mind!
usually what i do is if im unsure of a question i just skip it and come back to it after i finished the rest of the mcq. usually i have more of a sense of the formula of the questions and it helps me narrow it down to one answer. also it makes you feel better cuz ideally you’ll have a lot more time left over than if u were just stuck ruminating on that one question. since the ap exam involves all units this next part won’t be as useful but if youre taking a specific unit test its helpful to remember that all the questions have to relate SOMEHOW to the unit. like say ur taking a unit 8 apush test and the quote is talking about the invasion of afghanistan and the question asks you about what its more similar to and ur stuck between james k polk/manifest destiny and woodrow wilson/ww1.. ur gonna choose woodrow wilson 😭
Hi Heimler! I’m in Ap gov currently and my teacher is great but he’s REALLYYY slow. We’re only on Unit 3/5 and I don’t know how to study the last 2 units by myself. Do you have any tips on how to do that?
Hi! I have been watching Heimler videos and writing notes over them as I go. The combo of reading/writing/hearing has definitely helped me! You can also go to the course summary for your class, which is a good starting point to help you figure out what to study. Hope this helps!
do you guys think its possible to get all the info needed just by watching the REVIEW videos for AP World? Or would I have to watch all the individual videos (Like Unit 3, Topic 3, etc)
the answer to the question is D right a doesn't seem factually correct, B doesn't, uh, make sense at all, c is i think factually correct but doesn't seem to relate.
I’ve watched each of ur videos atleast 15 times that I almost have every word you say memorized. 😅 so if you end up grading my AP exam, it’s gonna be hilarious 😂
this man has a reserved spot in heaven fr
Heimler I MIGHT be cooked 😭
You’ll be alright. I got a 5 last year and didn’t find it particularly difficult
@@maildeuscsianthow good were you in the class tho

Hey Heimler, just wanted to give a big thank you! You have literally saved me this year, so grateful! 🙏🏼
This makes me feel slightly better about my 70 in AP World. Where was this video at the beguiling of this school year??
Whoops, I've been reading the source, then the document, and then the question. Thanks for the correction 👍
Thank GOD for this video! Ive been doing terribly on my mcqs because im not doing them right. I’ll be sure to send this to as many of my ap friends as possible so they can also learn how to do mcqs properly.
I end up with the 2 possible answers and end up picking the wrong one 😭
First practice AP test on Saturday, thanks Heimler

thanks, Heimler! super useful

I had a mcq test a whike ago and got 21/49 and this week i have another test so i hope i improve at least a little 😓
Your exam videos are my favourites
Can you please do one for AP Gov!?

I’ve been scoring Cs on every unit mcq exam, I genuinely can’t do this anymore 😭
Same
Where do you find big sets of MCQs? All the stuff I find online just have SAQs, LEQs, and DBQs.
the college board doesnt really realise MCQ
No matter what, I still get them answered wrong-I think my problem is just overthinking questions and not reading too much…

Do most of these tips also apply to gov (I understand the ones that obviously don't but what about the others)
heimler are you goated in the sauce?
any tips for answer mcq online w/o being able to mark it up with pencil?
They'll provide you scratch paper if you ask, so that might be the best option
