Very american comment of Gregory, but problem is in bad Russia 250 000 jailed while in "free" US over 4 million jailed people, so statistically its easier to go to gulag in states
Interesting statistics

So you really didn't know that statistic?? Seriously?? 🤦🏼♂️🫣
@@Sergey_Bezhentsev I know but not everyone does so I’m glad it was shared because I think it is interesting.
Gulag - it is _NOT_ prison, but soft form of punishment with variety of freedom, in most cases just colony (similar to military camp), in some cases just ordinary settlement - village where prisoner only sleep and works in nearest city during day like regular citizen (de facto kind exile).
In US there are no gulags, they hold people only in prisons, in real cells. In Russia there are only several thousands people hold in prisons, it is considered as too brutal form of punishment, only for most dangerous criminals (manics, terrorists, etc).

Tula is the oldest weapons center in Russia - since XVI century till now So Tula is not just a "Gingerbread village"
By the way, Tula has its own Kremlin. Besides, Tula was center of weapons production in medieval Russia. So, the city has Museum of Weapons, mostly old, of medieval and other passed centuries weapons. It's worth to visit :)

I love the old wooden houses in Russia.
I agree. Hopefully this is not lost to time.
Wooden houses are best preserved in Vologda. There they are prohibited from being demolished in the city center. There is also a very beautiful wooden center in Gorodets. It is a unique town in Nizhny Novgorod region.

Tula is not only famous for its pryaniks, but also for its samovars. Tea from samovar is very delicious!
I heard this is controversial because other cities claim the samovar as well.

In Tula there is another completely natural and traditional sweet, it is called '

Nice start of the visit to Tula. I've here twice like a tourist. Not a big city like Moscow obviously but I guess it's pretty good for people living there.
Yeah it is bigger than my hometown.
Bro, nice hot tea with good pryaniki - is not only tasty, it's good overall for your health.
I hope so because it is tasty.
@@expatamerican3234 Yeah. Didn't answer you yet regarding religion in Russia, if you remember, we talked a while back.
So, having this chance, here is the answer.
Though being a Russian, I'm not an orthodox, but Russian evangelical baptist.
We hold on only to doctrines from Bible, not man made religion and traditions.
Hopefully Russian Orthodox church wouldn't follow now or in near future their terrific mistake of 19-th century, when they heavily persecuted us, evangelicals, thus by doing so, brought horrible God's punishments on to Russia during almost all of 20th century.
To understand this deeper, please, -when you'll have a time, - go watch this important video with your beautiful Russian wife.
This is an extremely important, yet thoroughly hidden history of Russia, that actually was a linch pin to all of the unimaginable suffering of all of 20th century followed that persecution of evangelicals.
Because as Jesus said to Saul: it's tough for you to go against the goads, - same with Russia in 19th century before Red Revolution, when even famous classic Russian writer F. Dostoyevskiy participated in this travesty against Russian evangelicals, who have done zero evil to Russia, but only good.
You will find in this video a very important name of an extraordinary rich Russian gentry person, who came to God, became a born again person, and did lots of good of charity with it, proclaiming Biblical faith in Russia.
For which he was kicked out of Russia by these hotheaded zealot orthodox folks, including from the governmental structures of those days.
Here's this (quite rather short) video ==> th-cam.com/video/LTNexdI1xPw/w-d-xo.html
My bicycles, the metro and trains will do me for transport when I get to Russia soon.
I agree. Thanks for sharing.
Don't even think about coming to Russia! Otherwise, you won't want to leave there! And Grandpa Joe and his company really don't like it!
Iits only gone get better...compared with the Western situation in a deep political mess..USA is not a good touristic environment anymore...politely said.
I appreciate your careful words. A good reminder to me that there are no scary people or places when traveling in Russia.
😢
I love ginger plus it has many health benefits.
Thanks man
Looks like a nice town. The bread looks delicious. Thank you for sharing. 😊❤
It is not actually a town. It is a city with 450,000 residents 😃
It is twice the size of my hometown.😉 But Gingerbread Village sounds more romantic and I wanted people to take notice of this place.🤨
In Tula they don't sell guns like in Texas. They sell gingerbread guns)
🤣 Yes, Russia doesn’t have a gun phobia.
I have seen many gingerbreads, ok, I havent been to Rula yet, but I eat them since soviet times. In fact, these are not breads, but cookies, big ones. And thus gun- gingerbread just shocked me. Not expected at all.

You can get to Tula by fast Intercity train ( like this one 3:25). It takes 2 hours. I hope you will visit the Tula Kremlin, the embankment, wich is one of my favorite embankments in Russia, and the museum quarter. What an amazing and heartwarming video, thanks so much for making it!
Many comments have mentioned that Tula is famous for its weapons manufacturing, but it’s also home to microphone manufacturing as well. It houses Oktava factory which produced many microphones used at USSR radio stations, and the production keeps going to this very day. Some engineers from Oktava some years ago started a new factory and are manufacturing Soyuz microphones which are very high end (and pricey, of course) - but this brand is pretty well recognised in the western sound recording scene

Tula is also 'gun manufacturing capital' of Russia, that's why some of pryaniks were made in form of the pistols. The great firearms museum is located in Tula. You cold do the separate video dedicated to this part of history of the city, seems it would be interesting for large number of foreigners.

russians do not do plastic cheap souvenirs. each place holds its own history dear and keeps traditional crafts and folk. so you can pick a true piece of culture to take home with you, not a mug or a magnet. I see honesty in it. you pay for piece of heart and history in something hand made and feel respected as a tourist, not seen as a fool who can be ripped and skinned paying extra for your interest to a place.
You are correct but they have magnets too. So it is a little bit of both. 😁

They say it takes 11 years to explore the Hermitage Museum alone, but how long does it take to explore the whole of Russia?
I don’t it’s possible in one life!
I probably will not get to it all.
By the way, there is a certain type of songs in Russia that imitate the rhythm, sounds and mood of a train ride. I can say about a dozen of these songs from memory right now. Your wife, if she grew up in Russia, probably knows them too.
Interesting. Thanks for telling me.
Tula holds one of the best weaponry museums in Russia IMO. Been there a couple years ago. Best 1000 rubles per adult person you can spend. Several floors of firearms of every kind, some naval rockets and six-barrel guns, special unit tools, prototypes, uniforms, russian military history on top (простите, Туляки. Kremlin's embankment of the river Upa, Kremlin and this particular museum are a must go to.

Joseph, YOU would make a great tour guide!!! Consider that you organize a tour for Western (to include USA citizens) to your area of Russia. Summertime would be the best time to see Russia as I fear the cold weather that Moscow region would have. I live in Tennessee and NOW the weather here is warming up as summer is coming soon here in Tennessee. If I would come to join a tour group, I would bring USA dollars, but I worry how or where I could spend the USA currency cash given the sanctions. Please advise Joseph.
You can bring 10k without declaring it BUT they must be in perfect and unfolded condition. You can then exchange at any currency exchange in Moscow and even open a bank account with a plastic card so you aren’t carrying a bunch of rubles on you.
