I’m a Baltimore native and have been an avid fan since probably day 1. But these last two albums have been the most beautiful pieces of art I know. And this dance routine, the third. My mother died (completely unexpectedly, at 52) two months ago today and three days earlier my brother was arrested for domestic assault. That was the only family I had. Within the next few days, I will be living in my car. It has been a shitstorm of a two months, but long story short; these videos have been getting me through. I’m losing it but the absolute artistry of all components of PBTT music videos is truly inspiring and probably the #1 thing keeping me together. Thank you, genuinely.
Thanks so much for the kind words on the videos. Watching them back for the first time in a few years and really enjoy reading folks take on the trilogy. Appreciate ya’ll watching.
You guys wrote an album that helped define my childhood and did and still does seem to speak directly to me--it helped me through one of the toughest chapters in my life. Thank you for Old Pride.
The adolescent screams were good. But the development and change in vocals, with it being the same singer, just blows me away. The progression and direction you guys are going with, is astounding. And can't wait for many many more releases.
Lyrics: Over but just begun Pull from her, pull to me It's everything she wanted It's happening with ease Modern Rembrandt line A peach and black painted charisma You're so alive Like a dream I'd catch if I'd stayed asleep Magothy days slipped away I caught a stranger's eye And what a way you won me over Keep praising the light Keep sleeping by number It's everything she wanted It's all famine or feast now Making do with bitter sundown A body that stayed in disarray Sneaking out of view I think deep down she always knew I'd fully give in She got blood from a stalwart grey Making up for lost living Wearing that woo Looks good on you No better view, I love the new painted charisma Magothy days slipped away I caught a stranger's eye And what a way you won me over
preciousrusting eh I don't think so. Someone else below said Magothy days which Magothy is a river in Maryland where they're from so that's my best guess rn
keep you is all singing, and is one amazing album imo. the albums before that are basically a different genre with all screams, but theyre still amazing
I’ve been waiting for this since 2014. I’m not disappointed not even for a second of this incredible song. With great pleasure I’ll pre-order this masterpiece and eagerly will be waiting for European tour. Good luck guys and thank you for this song!
I still revisit this to this day often. Such an incredible & wonderful video. The director & actors should be incredibly proud of this. Truly wonderful.
As a fan of both the old AND new style, I love this new shit. Keep it up. You are one of the most important bands in my life. Haters are going to hate, but at this point you guys are beating a dead horse. PBTT make the music they want to fucking make, and if you don't like it, listen to the old records, or another band altogether....
Nathan R I think they've somehow managed to expand on Keep You's sound. It's not as static and it's got more punch. Don't get me wrong, love Keep You to pieces. But this is so much more energetic.
it sounds pretty similar to the track "dancing", which is a really good thing. so stoked for the new album. keep you is a true piece of art and one of my most favorite albums ever.
Konstantin Staroverov I love Keep You too. The more I listen to it, the more I think it's kind of a milestone for post-hardcore in how it captures the evolution of the sound at the time. Like Worship and Tribute was for Glassjaw back in the early 2000's.
What timing! Randomly searched for this song today expecting to only find crappy videos from live concerts and bang(!) they got a video and details on the new album dropping! so pumped!!
Damn... his singing has improved so much since the last record!! I really dig it!! I still love his voice on the early stuff and that sound will always have a special place in my heart, but I love this too!! great job PBTT
Honestly i miss the screams, but considering my fav album is Keep You, im proud of the direction they're going. You cant please everyone and youre bound to lose fan, but as long as youre happy with your music than thats all that matters. I cant wait for this!
Honestly I miss them too sometimes, this raw sound, pure bliss and sadness at the same time. But I love their new stuff, the feel of it, so damn beautiful. Still the same feeling, just maybe a bit more mature.
Bailey J I have. I love both for different reasons. This is so much more sonically diverse than Keep You though. More variety in the instrumentals and even his vocal performance. And I even like the lyrics a bit better.
i love this song. as a big fan of the band ever since i heard "houses we die in", this is stellar. of course screamers age and lose the ability to scream like they used to. but i welcomed the change on Keep You, however i felt that that album lacked a lot of the instrumental intensity that albums like "Lack Long After" had, but if this single is a sign of what's to come. Then this might top Lack Long After as my favorite PBTT album.
They played this live in Dallas on the MeWithoutYou [AB] Life tour. It was awesome and I kept thinking I couldn't wait to hear it recorded. Didn't expect it so soon :D
I wanted to catch that tour so bad. These two bands are show what post hardcore still has left to offer. Keep You and Pale Horses are two of my favorite albums of all time, and both of the bands have amazing back catalogs
I really like the sound being put forth on this single by Pianos Become the Teeth and I really enjoyed the video. Lots of fantastic shots and quick editing. It looks very time consuming and turned out great so I want anyone who worked on the video to know that I really enjoyed it and noticed the work that was put into it. Seeing the people in masks and the actress in the video being afraid of those around her really represented my anxiety, even if that was not the purpose of the video. That being said, love PBTT and I am really interested to hear the new album. While I liked the softer vibe on "Keep You" and the heavier sound on their earlier releases, this new single presents a much more up-beat structure and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the album compares.
Brad Exactly what I was thinking. Keep You was very reserved and downplayed EVEN as more of a soft post-hardcore album. This sounds like it's gonna have a lot more punch. Maybe a bit more straightforward, musically even though the drums still slap.
Es ist so unfassbar gut kombiniert. Raffiniert zusammen gesetzt. Wundervolles Video und dieser Songtext macht mich fertig. Ich denke immer an meinen allerbesten Freund wenn ich es sehe und gleichzeitig an die die ihr Leben selbst beendet haben. Danke es hält mich in der On the way
I totally get why people would prefer one PBTT 'sound' over the other, that's just your own personal preference. What I don't get is how people who claim to love the band can't understand WHY they would change their direction so much. The first two albums came from such an obvious place of grief and pain of the singer dealing with the death of his father - that's what made them so special, you could really feel the emotion, the anger, the sense of injustice in the songwriting. Keep You was clearly an album about moving on from that grief, and this new stuff suggests it'll continue in that direction. So if you're demanding a band you claim to love to 'go back' to their old sound you're really asking them to do one of two things: 1. Keep revisiting a deeply painful event and wallow in a pain that they're clearly trying to move away from, for the sake of YOUR enjoyment. I don't know why any fan would wish this on an artist they love. 2. Asking them to fake an emotional intensity they just don't feel anymore. I know the reason I loved their first two albums was because they were so genuine. You can't manufacture that, and fans surely wouldn't want them to. At this point its better to just imagine them as two different bands if that helps. Both styles are great, plenty to enjoy.
Fuck everyone saying "it's not the same as their old stuff, this sucks." Well guess what? That's called growing up and moving on. Do you still wear the same clothes and act the same way you did 4 years ago? Then why would you expect someone else to? It's like being an artist--you can only paint a flower for so long before you move on and want to try painting something else. Have some fucking respect for that.
So growing up means making bland post-hardcore? They changed everything. This is a bait and switch and a disappointing one because they were really good.
Bait and switch? Guy, what are you talking about. You act like they hoodwinked everyone. Last I remember, the last record they put out was in the same vein. Let em play what they feel passionate about, fuck Chad from Hundredth put out some super dope material this week, that just like the last Hundredth record sounded nothing like their now 3 year old past album. Let it go man, let em do their thing and get groovy to some indie style rock boi
Robbie Cooke They really do. I think this sound is more vibrant and energetic than Keep You. I love Keep You for it's understated nature but this is more my speed.
i think this album is supposed to stem away from the more dreary content of their last albums. so the happier tone of this single is pretty great, though the lyrics could write that differently, but i enjoy it! Keep You was an important record for me, it helped me out of some bad places. i fell in love with this band because these guys write their aches, and they perform it with such energy. i really can't hate anything they do. they put their hearts into it and they write for themselves. to me, that'll always be a band worth my time.
people act like their favorite bands don't change sound all the time. yall get off on brand new/mewithoutyou/old gray/whoever changing their sound every album and ep, but why is pianos different? if orchid, saetia, neil perry, *insert 90s/00's hardcore/screamo band here* were still around, releasing albums and touring and never broke up, HIGHLY doubt their style would be the same (and honestly compare early orchid to gatefold, different style* god fucking damn grow up also for the record, save a few songs off saltwater this band is perfect. pretty much everything they've ever released.
It's been six years and still love this song everyday.

Sorry for your loss.
How are things with you 10 months later?

Gotta come back to this vid every October!
Lyrics:
Over but just begun
Pull from her, pull to me
It's everything she wanted
It's happening with ease
Modern Rembrandt line
A peach and black painted charisma
You're so alive
Like a dream I'd catch if I'd stayed asleep
Magothy days slipped away
I caught a stranger's eye
And what a way you won me over
Keep praising the light
Keep sleeping by number
It's everything she wanted
It's all famine or feast now
Making do with bitter sundown
A body that stayed in disarray
Sneaking out of view
I think deep down she always knew
I'd fully give in
She got blood from a stalwart grey
Making up for lost living
Wearing that woo
Looks good on you
No better view, I love the new painted charisma
Magothy days slipped away
I caught a stranger's eye
And what a way you won me over
big something is it ‘magazine days slipped away’?
preciousrusting eh I don't think so. Someone else below said Magothy days which Magothy is a river in Maryland where they're from so that's my best guess rn
Its everything she wanted
*its all famine or feast now
Matty Tremblay thx my dude
"sneaking a look" sounds like "sneaking out of view" i hear 4 words
The feels for hazy summer evenings are real with this one
Or pale autumn mornings in the midwest
More like autum for me.
i am very extremely surprised this video doesn’t have millions of views, not even a million! this song is so, so underrated
I’m new to Pianos Become The Teeth so I don’t know what they’re suppose to sound like but I know I like this.
keep you is all singing, and is one amazing album imo. the albums before that are basically a different genre with all screams, but theyre still amazing
LIJ4Productions i do enjoy those screams. I’ll make sure to check it out. I like how bouncy this song is. Makes me want to bob my head along.
Beautiful song. And the dance sequence on the train platform? Mesmerizing.
I’ve been waiting for this since 2014. I’m not disappointed not even for a second of this incredible song. With great pleasure I’ll pre-order this masterpiece and eagerly will be waiting for European tour. Good luck guys and thank you for this song!
This may be the best algorithm hit yet. Haven't thought about this song in 6 years. Love it!
I still revisit this to this day often. Such an incredible & wonderful video. The director & actors should be incredibly proud of this. Truly wonderful.
hey there from 2024
Awesome! Greetings from Brazil, guys.
no matter what these guys do, theyre the best in the game
Man I’m feeling a lot rn. So happy this album finally clicked with me.
FINALLY Keep You is one of my favorite albums I'm so stoked for this
Been listening to this all day. I’m so stoked for the new album!
So excited to hear the rest of the album and how it builds off of Keep You. Glad these guys are still going strong.
Nathan R I think they've somehow managed to expand on Keep You's sound. It's not as static and it's got more punch. Don't get me wrong, love Keep You to pieces. But this is so much more energetic.
IT'S OKAY TO BE WHITE I think you're right
I love this song so much. No band even comes close to the feels Pianos gives
Saw them perform this live in Baltimore last night.....AMAZING!!! Can’t wait for the new album
Beautiful. Keep going, guys!
it sounds pretty similar to the track "dancing", which is a really good thing.
so stoked for the new album.
keep you is a true piece of art and one of my most favorite albums ever.

Damn... his singing has improved so much since the last record!! I really dig it!! I still love his voice on the early stuff and that sound will always have a special place in my heart, but I love this too!! great job PBTT
First time listening to the band and I gotta say they have a really good original sound to them!
Honestly i miss the screams, but considering my fav album is Keep You, im proud of the direction they're going. You cant please everyone and youre bound to lose fan, but as long as youre happy with your music than thats all that matters. I cant wait for this!

Stéphane Pilotte I love Keep You but so far this is better. It's got more energy and his vocal delivery is livelier.
IT'S OKAY TO BE WHITE but have you even listened to their new album?! Lol I think the two are both amazing, neither one better or worse
Bailey J I have. I love both for different reasons. This is so much more sonically diverse than Keep You though. More variety in the instrumentals and even his vocal performance. And I even like the lyrics a bit better.
the bass tone.... phew....

they were one of the first bands i ordered a record from your label during the old pride era. possibly how i heard about your existence even! :)
:') wholesome friends.
Topshelf kills it. Got into so many bands from you guys
I totally get why people would prefer one PBTT 'sound' over the other, that's just your own personal preference.

I keep replaying the dance on the subway platform, it's so beautiful and cool as fuck. Thanks for a great song & video guys, stellar as always

Tommy Hilfiger if you miss the old stuff listen to Old Gray, Frameworks, and Rescuer

Tommy Hilfiger that's YOUR opinion. I find this music better than their older music so do one son.
Someone who gets it!
This song makes me feel a way I haven’t felt before
Wow, what a truly great song! Congratulations, guys!
Keep up the great work!

Robbie Cooke They really do. I think this sound is more vibrant and energetic than Keep You. I love Keep You for it's understated nature but this is more my speed.
