      Right On Tom! 👍🙌 Yes TH-cam is an amazing resource! Even if it’s something I know how to do there might be a better way or some useful tips. I’ve learned so much on TH-cam. Mama cat is doing really good! She’s fixed now and enjoying retirement! 😄 Lots of chasing squirrels 🐿!!

    Made hundreds of feet of handrails back in the day but it was always using fittings, never used a bender but it looks like fun.

    • @RightOnJonCrane
      @RightOnJonCrane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right On Raw Bacon! 🥓 Those fittings are nice! This bender is a little crude but with a little persuasion it gets the job done ✅🙌

    That’s a great way to do those bends without having a very expensive bender. Nice that you showed how to generate the radius you needed. With expensive tube benders you need the radius dies required and they too are expensive. My only comment would be to have an air over hydraulic cylinder. Sure saves time and effort. BTW Harbor Freight I believe makes a nice knob to open the valve. I made my own before I found out you can buy them. However being a toolmaker it was just another fun little project. Great Video though !

    For marking steel I like to sharpen the tip on a 3 point file with a grinder and make it into a scribe, then use the scribe to scratch the mark directly into the steel. Eliminates the problems with thick paint markers, which can lead to errors in your final product.
    I think the machining industry term is "tolerance stacking".
    If you've ever plotted multiple azimuths on a map with a thick pencil line, all the differences add up. I learned from experience to use a mechanical pencil to save myself a lot of walking and/or getting lost. A lot of skills you learn overlap into other disciplines.

    great video. I have been thinking about cutting a viewing port so I can more easily measure the angle of my bend. Don't think it will compromise the strength of the bender. What do you think?

    Can I ask how you found all your shop equipment?

    • @RightOnJonCrane
      @RightOnJonCrane  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Jed! That’s a good question because it is kind of an art to hunting down tools and shop supplies. There are a few different categories. Auctions are good but not as good as they used to be since they are all online now. It used to be that you could get a good deal but not people online are bidding more than the items are worth.
      Craigslist, offer up, and Facebook marketplace are all good resources for tools. There are different Craigslist apps that help to search for items and get alerts.
      Ebay can be good! Look for tools under many different names. Also misspelling words can bring up good deals.
      If in the north east there are great swap meets/ flea markets like Jack Town and Elephants Trunk.
      Word of mouth is always good. Sometimes a shop is going out of business or selling some tools. Good to check in with local shop guys.
      I hope this helps! It would be a good video for me to make.
      Right On! 🙌, Jon Crane

    Please.. I could not find a pipe bending machine like this in our country.. So the idea is to make one like it and I would like to know what is the distance between the holes for each pipe and its diameter please.

    Is it possible to make 2 bends next to each other in opposite directions? Eg straight line to a step and continue straight I’m wanting to make a subframe basically there’s a hoop on the end which needs to narrow down towards the back where the lower control arm brackets and rear subframe mounting points are, I’ve bought a used industrial upto 3” bender that is horizontal and has tripod legs… thing weighs a ton not literally but you know what I mean, only paid £100 for it, spent more on the t45 tubing

    Hello.. If I want to bend a round steel tube at 90' in a hydraulic iron bender, what is the distance between the two pulleys for each pipe Thank you.♥️

    Can this method be used for a shallow arc? Would it be the same number of pumps for each bend or would the throw be different for each bend?

    My harbor freight bender leaks oil everywhere if I put it on its side, even though it has feet for that exact purpose, and the manual says it will do that and to NOT lay it dow.
    What happened? Is the new version worse?

    • @RightOnJonCrane
      @RightOnJonCrane  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, mine leaks a little too! There is a modification that can be made by adding a tube inside. It makes it so the Jack can also be used upside down. Perhaps I’ll dig into it and make a video! 🙌

  • @CF-yo8kk

    very nicely explained how to use a bender, 90 percent of the video is explained incorrectly, I believe that you need to know how to handle this bender and most of us don't know...
