    Very good tutorial. I also would like to note that you actually do not need a apple streaming device, but you can connect the projector to the schools wifi network via LAN Cable, and to mirror your screen, you install Epson iProjection and connect to any Epson WiFi Capable projector. Students can also install Epson iProjection for chrome, in case students need to present something to the class. Bonus Tip: You can also download Epson iProjection with Moderator Software, allowing you to display 4 screens at once on the projector. Please note, this must be supported such as the Britelink Series projector.

    Here is probably a weird question. If you were to turn on voiceover while that is all connected, would it project the voice over voice through the whole class? Or would it just be centralized to the device you are holding? In case you do not know what voiceover is, it is a screen reader program that is built into Apple products. It helps blind and low vision people interact with the device just like a sighted person would.

    I've been considering getting an AppleTV for the classroom even though I do have a smart board already (which I hate). Plus I have a small TV at home that I can bring in and put on my guided reading table to screen cast my ipad. I might try it!

      I have never had a smart board but I have heard a lot of teachers say they don't like them. Using that small TV is a good idea!

    Loved the video but the title is not correct. This definitely makes the white board more interactive but it is NOT a smart board. iPevo seems to do that (based on what I've seen on TH-cam).

    Did you know that you don’t need a Apple TV to screen mirror your iPad to protector. You can use a hdmi to usb cable to mirror a iPad to protector and if you want to mirror your students iPads you can plug their iPad in. The cable is only $5.

    I'm here from the future. History has deemed many of you commenters complainers and passive critisizers. I have been sent here to make it right. This recommendation is very useful and cheap because I already have a apple tv. As many people of 2021 do. If you don't like the idea...stop criticizing and get one of your own. Please do not reply to my comment. Because I sent this in your time, none of you actually sent these idiotic comments in the future so logically, I will not be able to see or respond to replies. Teachers of 2018 please disregard punctuation errors as these are standard in my time because we have not seen an institute of higher learning for about a year. #enlightenedones

  • @javijee_

    This is not a smartboard arangement. It is just a projector with a mobile device, and an expensive one. The chromecast solution is way cheaper.

    • @KyleThain
      @KyleThain  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Does chrome cast work with apple products? If so I agree it would be a better alternative

    • @javijee_
      @javijee_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kyle Thain That's not the point and why does it have to be an Apple product anyway? The title doesn't say anything about Apple. A projection screen is not a whiteboard and using an Apple tv is only one option. An android device with chromecast will do just as well and is way cheaper.

    • @KyleThain
      @KyleThain  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I was asking because in our district we are given iPads and many teachers don't use them. If the chrome cast worked with apple products then it could be helpful to many of my colleagues and they might begin using them for students to interact with whole group.The idea of this video was to show that with just some basic things you can do a lot of what you can with an expensive smart board.

    • @javijee_
      @javijee_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I see. I guess it is not possible. All these companies try to get their customers on a lead. For instance, I cannot watch amazon prime on my chromecast. Amazon refuses to give that freedom. The only option was to buy an amazon fire tv stick.

    Ok, this does not turn a whiteboard into a smartboard. It turns a white board into a frigging projector screen. When the word "smartboard" is used, it means the board itself is interactive. There are projectors on the market where you can send whatever you want to project on a screen from any wireless device to the projector and you don't need to purchase an Apple TV device. This does not make the whiteboard smart. You cannot touch the whiteboard and manipulate the content. You have not invented any new thing here.

      Android has this ability (It's called screen mirroring or screen sharing) since 2010. Just get a screen mirroring dongle and attach it to your projectors HDMI input (if it does not have a HDMI input you can also buy a VGA to HDMI converter, too) open up the projector, mirror your Android tablets or phones screen to the your board through the dongle wirelessly. That is all. But be careful your phone or tablets screen will appear completely on the screen :)

    Projecting on to a board isn't a smartboard at all. it's a projector on a whiteboard. if they could click on the board it would be smart, this doesn't qualify.

  • @tomlillas1416
    @tomlillas1416 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Use this all the time in class, but it's NOT a Smartboard!

  • @kenjihoriuchi1302
    @kenjihoriuchi1302 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The title is misleading. You’re just projecting what’s on your device onto a board. While useful, definitely not making a whiteboard into a board that can manipulate your device.

    • @KyleThain
      @KyleThain  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree because you can still manipulate what is on the board for the whole class to see. Also you can bring the tablet to a student and they can show the work from their seat. I’m some ways this method is better and more versatile.

    • @kenjihoriuchi1302
      @kenjihoriuchi1302 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean by definition, an interactive white board is a large interactive display in the form of a white board. What you’ve described is projecting what’s shown on an iPad, that you can pass around. That’s all fine and dandy, it’s just not an interactive white board. I’m not stating that this isn’t worthwhile as I’ve at one point in time used a similar set up. Agree to disagree. Kudos to you for sharing this however!

    • @KyleThain
      @KyleThain  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gotcha, I see what you are saying. I wasn’t trying to be misleading I wanted to show teachers that you don’t really need a smart board to do many things you would do with one. I appreciate your perspective, thanks!

    • @kenjihoriuchi1302
      @kenjihoriuchi1302 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice for you but this is not a smartboard. This is a dummy board that a technology called "screen mirroring" happening unto it. We (Android users) are able to do this since 2010 with our ancient Android phones or tablets :)

    This is a primitive work of a projector dude. Nothing about a smartboard here. It could've been a curtain or a wall.

  • @marke3571
    @marke3571 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Blatent Clickbait. This is just projecting. There is nothing smart about it, but to get clicks your put "smart" in the title.
