You could do yt recipe videos and make your own Mac & cheese, peach cobbler, etc. Southern food especially uses pretty basic ingredients, or easy substitutions.
If you ever want to come to Tennessee, I got a free room!
If you want to try some American mac and cheese for yourself, see if you can get Evol Truffle Parmesan Mac and Cheese, 8 Oz.
It's the best frozen mac and cheese I've ever had, and better than nearly any restaurant mac and cheese I've ever had.
If it's not cheesy enough for you, try grating some fresh parmesan on top.
And do a reaction video to you eating it. People want to see that.
Tennessee bbq is so much better than Texas @@johnkidd36
Just looking at how they prepared their green beans😂 I'm pretty sure this is one of them barbecue places that the sides were just an afterthought that basically nobody actually thought about😂 and they were putting like 98% of their focus on making sure their meat is actually good😂😂😂 it's pretty common for barbecue places to do that😢
Putting bacon on any type of potatoes is not illegal, it’s recommended.
I've never seen it in potato salad though. Maybe it pairs a little weird with mustard and celery.
@@jaegybomb I never have either, but to me it still sounds like something that would be better with bacon.
Maybe I’ll try some bacon bits on my tater salad next time and see how it tastes 😊
@@evapho2745I don’t think bacon bits will give you the opportunity to form an accurate opinion of “bacon” in potato salad! Take a couple more mins and cook up a strip or 2 of real bacon and crumble that over the top! …It will be sooo worth it!!! I mix mine in to the salad, but now that you said that, I might just make the salad and add crispy bacon to it each time I eat some!! That way it doesn’t get soggy in the salad! Thanks!!!
"Can you put some bacon on those?"
Now you're thinking like a true American.
I'm in my 60's, and of Cuban descent. The main course in Cuba is hunger and misery. That young man is in a culinary paradise.
@@Michael-kf7gm
Oh gimme a break. I may have Cuban blood, but I'm an American first. The Communist oppression in Cuba has a stranglehold on the people, and to be clear, I wasn't complaining, just stating the facts. I know leftoids despise Cuban-Americans because the overwhelming majority are MAGA Republicans and very successful. Envy will get you all nowhere.
It’s actually called creamed corn or cream-style corn. When I was a kid, during the summer our favorite meal was a huge pan of fresh creamed corn and fresh sliced tomatoes-everything straight from the garden. We don’t generally eat green beans like that in the South. We cook our green beans until they are done then cook them some more with bacon grease or a piece of streaked lean pork. I make (used to) peach cobbler with fresh peaches that was so good it’d make your tongue come out and slap your face! The peach cobbler recipe came from a favorite cookbook entitled “White Trash Cookbook.” I don’t trust chain restaurants to cook peach cobbler correctly.
Andre, your English is much better than my Portuguese...lol Also, I really appreciate that they are honest, everyones tastes are different and it's ok if they don't like something. Personally, I like creamed corn thicker, but it probably still had good flavor
NOTE : the knife is PLASTIC. That's how tender the beef rib is... you can cut it with a PLASTIC knife.
Barbecue is derived from the Caribbean Indian word barbacoa which is the name of the wooden huts that were used to smoke meat in. P.S.Any mustard potato salad can be made incredible by adding bacon celery and black olives. P.P.S. there's only two seasons in texas, summer and July and August. Don't go in July and August, go in the middle of winter if possible.
8:06 - It wasn't just plain corn. It was Cream of Corn, so it's corn cooked in a creamy sauce.
The potato salad they got was the German Potato Salad. They need the Mustard and/or Deviled Egg Potato Salad.
"Peach Cobbler" is a sort of fruit dessert. It's very similar to what the British call "Apple Crumble". Any type of fruit can be used to make a "Cobbler"
The potato salad is sprinkled with Paprika. No, Andre, That's "Creamed Corn". Kernels of corn with a sauce consisting of cream, butter, a bit of flour and spices. The Green beans with be steamed and buttered.
You can make creamed corn there with fresh corn. The basic recipe is easy to find. Different people use different ingredients. So, find one with ingredients you can find locally.
Creamed corn is just more broken corn that’s cooked down. Corn naturally releases something called corn milk which is actually its sugar in liquid form. You get sugar from that. But in dishes it’s the sweet flavor of corn. When cooked down it gets sticky and it helps bind the corn together. It takes a while to get corn to release its milk.
the people saying you react to Texas too much, have NO Idea what they are talking about!! Ignore them!
Corn that we eat is sweet corn not the regular kind. When the corn is removed off the cob the niblet is not removed whole & some of the liquid (cream) is also removed. Peach cobbler is best eaten warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Terry Black should have an item on the menu call The British Sampler or The TH-cam Sampler! 😊
The red stuff on the potato salad is paprika
It is more to give it some color than for taste. We sprinkle it on deviled eggs also.
I grew up with a mom who used paprika like others use salt and pepper 😂
"My corn frens, do you guys like that?" 😂
You were HILARIOUS in this reaction.
I’m subscribed to their channel. This couple is sooo cute. His first impressions of everything in America is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. It’s profound to see our country and privilege from the pov of someone from a communist country. Reminds me of the monsters of rock show in Moscow in 91
I hereby nominate smoked meat as the official national food of the USA, any supporters?
The corn is creamed corn. It's super yummy!! As for bacon? We put bacon on anything and everything, it's TOTALLY legal! 😉
You should find the video where she takes Yoel to a FORD dealer to see new cars. He gets to sit in a new Mustang and a BIG ford pickup truck.
Texan here. The best brisket I've ever had is every time my cousin decides to smoke one.
There are street carts that serve a sweet corn layered with sour cream, and Parmesan cheese. It's very good. What they had looks similar. The red stuff on the potato salad is most likely paprika.
Everyone has their preferences but you gotta try BBQ in South Carolina where it was first invented by the plantation workers that got the scraps to eat and that's where BBQ was born. Not Kansas City, Missouri,Texas,North Carolina or Memphis Tennessee.
actually Kansas is number 1 in BBQ probably because of the amount of cattle raised there but honestly most BBQ is bomb.
Creamed Corn is amazing. It is super sweet and creamy. You may be able to find it in your grocery store canned goods, or at least we sell it here in cans. It's not as good as fresh or homemade, but even the canned creamed corn is still pretty good.
I can't even imagine how you could make a BAD Peach Cobbler! What did they do, add salt or something!! 😄
Potato Salad is one of those dishes where everyone makes it their own way, everyone's is a little different, some are better than others. You asked for bacon- my wife ALWAYS has bacon in it. It's really good. My mothers does not and is made totally different....yet..... It too is really good.
The peach cobbler needs a scoop of vanilla ice cream and I bet they would love it.
Have you heard of Goldbelly? You can get food from America's most iconic restaurants, including Terry Black's, shipped anywhere--in the US at least. Not sure if they would ship overseas. No need to endure Texas's heat, tornadoes, floods, hurricanes and the rest.
Goldbelly is great. I moved from Philadelphia to Kentucky a few years ago and there are foods I miss alot!! My son orders things from goldbelly as xmas, birthday, mothers day gifts for me....love it !!
Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler is the way to go. The Dutch Oven needs to be well seasoned. Love the channel and the content.
On the potato salad you can put bacon bits on it means cut up in small bite's.
Tender sweet corn swimming in butter
I have a long running joke with myself and my friends. I too am ALWAYS hungry. 35y/o male that works out 2hrs every day and can probably house 6,000 cals/day for mon-fri every week and be a beast. My boys hate me.
The red stuff on the potato salad is paprika!
It’s really hard to find peaches right now. The crop failed last year and the import wasn’t great. Now we got stuck with a lot of nectarines.
Texas bbq is on a whole other level. A 7/10 Texas bbq is 10/10 in most other places. The small places are just amazing. There’s a peach orchard that opens up a shop and bbq during peach season not too far from me that has a peach bbq pulled pork sandwich that is out of this world!
I never eat potato salad that I don't make. Most places use sweet pickle relish that I do not like.
Creamed corn, if you've never had it done well it is really really good. Sooooo much better than regular corn.
Yes the creamed corn is delicious.
It’s the dough he probably doesn’t like. I hate cobblers because of the dough myself.
Can you put bacon in it? Oh hell yes! You can put bacon in or on anything and make it better.
Ok, creamed corn is really good. Sides are often iffy I’ve found.
No creamed corn is right without at least a hair in it. Note, it is not a human hair, it comes from the shucks. Not sure how to translate that.
I Love Peach Cobbler. Never met a Peach Cobbler I didn't like.
Lucky and live fairly close to a Terry Black's. Not a corn fan, but ive never tasted anything like that cream corn, its good. Almost nothing here is over hyped.
Im still waiting for you to offer a "No Shance" t shirt to purchase!! lol.. xo
myself I love corn but hate hate hate creamed corn but very texture oriented in foods
They should have skipped the potato salad and ordered baked beans or chili on the side instead. 🤠
Need to watch joel goes to Washington dc to meet usa repasentives it was emotional and good
I love cream corn!!!!
Everyone has different taste, you know.
And herbs for seasoning
Yes you can put bacon in it, that German potato salad...
What peach cobbler is amazing it a oie with cinnamon and braiwn sugar its amazing
whats up brother how you doing. constantly making me hungry asf have a great day man.
if you come to texas i'll take you there, man. There is one near me in Dallas
I love creamed corn
Paprika on the potato salad
Need ice cream with peach cobbler.
Mari lived here in Miami and never went to Shorty's BBQ on Dixie Highway ???
They messed up because peach cobbler is amazing ❤🍑
Thanks enjoyed. Franklins has good barbecue
bbq is a cooking method not taste. texas bbq only is in texas. if u bbq in england then its english bbq
Don't judge a side by this video. There are good peach cobbler and bad ones. I like Apple pie and had to throw out my last one because it was terrible. Some places are good, some are bad and that's the way it goes.
Texas ! That is an art to barbecue a beef rib ! ❤😂
What do you mean? Can bacon be illegal? You can put bacon on anything.
I wonder if canned peaches were used in the cobbler. Canned peaches are trash.
Hard 8 is the best Texas bbq.
I think some of the things they tried may have seemed off to them, especially him. He could barely get food and some seasonings. I'm pretty sure he probably never had before due to them not being able to get some imports, IMO.
warm BLACKBERRY cobbler with a scoop of blue bell natural vanilla bean ice cream is where it's at!!!!
They just came out with blackberry cobbler ice cream.
I just had blue bells black berry cobbler ice cream.👍😊
I live in the PNW and miss Blue Bell so bad😭 esp their banana split flavor 🥲
@@livinginparallel You can order delivery from Bluebell, but you have to buy pints in groups of six. Half gallons not sure about.
Yes!
Paprika on the potato salad
The quality of my internet isn't great right now so I can't see the sides clearly. As a Texan the only potato salad I like is the mustard type. I "think" the potato salad they got was more along the line of mayonnaise type....which I agree IS missing something! If you ever see light colored potato salad and a slightly darker yellow...BUY THE YELLOW. Mustard gives it more flavor.
Cream of corn (or creamed corn), is basically sweet corn cut off the cob, cooked with lots of butter and cream. It's a little sweet, but not more than regular sweet corn. A can of it is a staple for southern stews like Brunswick Stew. The red stuff on the potato salad is probably paprika.
We use a can in our cornbread too, keeps it super moist and man is it good!!
Unfortunately I can only eat corn if it is still on the cob, with plenty of salt and butter (which is delicious). It's a little silly, I know. I think it's more a texture thing than anything else.
Amazingly tasty and flavorful barbecue and grill does NOT require a sauce. The marinade and rub along with preparation makes the meat and meal splendid. I would know since I enjoy homemade one.
I generally don’t like sauces BBQ. If I eat BBQ sauce, I want it on the side to dip as I choose. But, I generally consider it bad meat if I have to bury it in sauce.
9:50 “can you put bacon on that”. Man I appreciate the way you think.
And yes, you can put Bacon on anything. I bet it would have improved the peach cobbler.
There are three types of fresh corn:
Animal Corn (field corn)
Standard grocery store Corn
Sweet Corn
Sweet corn is on another level and most people don't even know what they're missing.
Corn on the cob from a grocery store never tastes good to me. Corn out of the garden can't be beat.
We have a local produce stand that sells fresh sweet corn. You can buy and eat it within hours of it being picked, and it is delicious!!! My dad lived through the depression and had developed a habit as a kid of liking raw veggies that are typically cooked (green beans, potatoes, etc). I would frequently go to cook the corn and find that dad’s cob was already missing a few bites. 😂
@@lynn2574 Your Dad and I would have gotten along fine. I do the same thing much to my wife's dismay.
Creamed corn is super easy to make! BUT, you need sweet corn to start - all of the corn I had in the UK was starchy and not sweet, so if you have actual sweet corn in Portugal, give it a try:
fresh corn (can used canned corn)
finely chopped onion
butter
sweet cream (single or double)
a hint of salt
a pinch of sugar if the corn isn't sweet
1) Shuck corn, cut kernels close to the cob if possible
2) gently sautee a tablespoon of white or yellow onion in butter until translucent (medium-low)
3) add corn, stir well, cook a bit but don't let it color
4) slowly add in cream until the mix is a little loose, simmer until the corn is cooked. If it's not sweet, add a bit of sugar - it should taste of corn, not sugar!
I like my creamed corn a little on the thicker side, so if you add too much cream, just let it simmer down until it's your desired consistency. DO NOT COOK ON HIGH HEAT otherwise you'll turn that cream to buttah,
Honestly you can get the same meat anywhere as long as it is prepared properly, and that peach cobler looked rather soggy plus its best served warm with vanilla bean ice Cream.
@European_Reacts - Andre you should check out the video where Yoel & Mari go to Puerto Rico. They talk about how much it reminds them of Cuba, and of what Cuba could have become without communism. They also check out some "pernil" restaurants, they say are better than the ones in Cuba!
You’re going to love peach cobbler bro!
Andre you are torturing yourself. Just hop on a plane come to America and enjoy the food and good times. 🎉 Keep up with the good work 😎👍
I agree.. we will help with expenses!! xo
Cream corn is amazing my friend.
That’s paprika on the potato salad
You have to be careful with Potato Salad down south, half the places make it with Miracle Whip instead of Mayo, which is essentially a war crime. They have some sick bastards down there, lol. Thankfully, not all Southerners share this defect, you can get good potato salad, but you must always keep your guard up.
@@Arkryal Mayo or no way!
German potato salad in the States has bacon and onions in it along with mustard and vinegar.
Another difference is it's served warm.
Peach cobbler is generally good wherever you get it if you like fruit desserts.
I like their video looking at Christmas lights
I will take a look
@@european-reacts André, also Yoel's 1st Halloween 🎃👻 where he's handling out candy 🍬 to all of the kids in their costumes with the *"BIGGEST Smile 😁😊 on his face"!!*
Peach Cobbler is either a solid 10/10 or a 1/10, there is no in-between, lol. But a place like that is not where you're going to find the good stuff, they used canned peaches. It has to be served hot with a scoop of French Vanilla Ice Cream, or British Style with Clotted Cream, and you really have to get it when the peaches are in season. But you need the cream fat served with it. And the secret ingredients are ground clove and almond extract (which restaurants avoid due to allergy concerns). If it's properly made, it's amazing, but it's one of those things you can't half-ass.
I was ruined for peach cobbler growing up. Mom’s was so fantastic and the peaches came off our tree. None have matched up to it, so they’ve all left me wanting. The same with her pecan pie. Crap, now I’m hungry…
Geography makes no difference. As long as the meat is slow smoked over a wood fire fo hours and hours, you cant go wrong.
I used to have a smoker in by back yard and i dont live anywhere near Texas. The only problem i had was finding good rub
This! My dad out smokes every single restaurant I’ve ever been.
That wasn’t a hair in the corn. It was corn silk. Softest thing in the world.
Been to Terry Blacks before and those green beans are not deep fried but they are amazing. I don't even really like green beans but those are by far the best I've ever had.
@4:46
The dark part on top os called the "bark". The Barbecue Rub, used can make the difference in flavors. A lot of places keep their rub ingredients secre😮t.
Now notice the pinkish area below the bark. Thats the "smoke ring" caused by hardwood smoke. The beef rib smoke ring is wide showing it was cooked in a smoker instead of an oven. Some places cant smoke so they use ovens.
If you went to Texas right now you would want to leave because it's over 100°. It is so hot in Texas right now for the next 4 months or so that you can't even breathe😂😂😂
Right now, 10 pm, it's a lovely 73°! Unfortunately, 77% humidity. We've had a relatively cool spring, but the heat has started, 91° today, northeast Texas.
it's 'Murica!! you can put bacon on anything... burgers, mac n cheese, fries, green beans, potato salad, donuts, ice cream, etc
It's Yoel and Mari!!!! They're amazing.
Terry Black’s is DEEEEEELICIOUS!
I was just there a week ago with my son. I ordered some of everything on the menu, knowing that we would for sure have a ton of leftovers, but I don’t know how soon I’ll be back in Austin, so I might as well go all out!
To say the food was wonderful would be a vast understatement. The meat was smokey and juicy. The creamed corn almost has a subtle cinnamon sugar taste, so unexpected and SO tasty! The peach cobbler and banana pudding were so angelic I expected them to sprout wings and flutter up to heaven, because it was heaven on earth!!!
The potato salad, if it's like a lot of restaurant potato salad, it most likely could use some more mustard, it looks pretty white, also maybe more dill pickle, and or dill pickle juice. For flavor.😮 Any good Mac. and cheese in the US uses a cheese sauce. What makes mac and cheese even better. Is to put buttered dread crumbs on top, before you take it out of the oven, just let them brown. YUMMIEST. ❤ Texas, is like any other state. Either you love it, or you don't. 😮
It's definitely not flavors they are used to. The green beans are cooked with a garlic flavor. And the potato salad is one of those dishes people either love it or don't care too much for it. They should have gotten the baked beans with brisket in it. And corn bread. I think it would have been a better fit for their refined Cuban tastes. Foods with mayonnaise probably not so much. As well as heavy seasoned garlic flavor. The beans with brisket and the rib with a side of corn bread. Much better. But Terry Black's is some of the best BBQ on the planet. There's a reason they sell 350 briskets a day alone. Not to mention the other BBQ meats. Ever in Texas check them out. But I do have to say,America has awesome BBQ whatever Southern states you choose to visit. Every state has it's signature style. It's just good food anytime.
Howdy y'all from the Great State of Texas 🤠🇺🇸
