I'm just some teenager who is finishing high school, sailing and racing on a laser, and watching your boat project videos are extremely motivational! Your videos, especially your format of boat renovation videos, in my opinion are perfect; no over-editing, no skipping over any steps that are done, good planning, understanding your mistakes, sharing experiences, beautiful boat layout, talking casually to the camera, and most importantly, showing how the realities affect your progress and how you deal with them! When you announced that you were going to have kids, I thought that it was going to make getting in the water impossible. But you showed that when you and your wife understand and care for each other, anything is eventually still possible. Plus the idea that you will use it as a research vessel to advance your career! About me, I am thinking of getting a computer science degree first (not only because it pays well but I simply love programming). This way I will be to afford a small home or even apartment next to a port, then buy and renovate a boat, and then later switching to a remote job to allow me to maintain a simple lifestyle. Probably none of this will go according to plan, especially since I am also thinking of being a pianist, but just like you showed me, as long as you have a strong determination, be happy with what you have, and accept realities, anything is possible. Have been watching since you bought the boat, thank you so much for your videos and good luck!! ⛵🌊
Hey Daniel, your comment makes me feel so seen and made my entire week. I was very overwhelmed with the concept of having children right now, and I wondered if it would break my relationship with my wife, but if anything it has brought us closer because now we have to work as a team to take care of these two cute kids. Yes, I pushed to have my dream respected and my wife knows now how it’s not just a hobby, it’s a key to my happiness and fulfillment in life. Fortunately we are in a position now where I can work towards my dreams and the kids are well taken care of. The key to success is never losing sight of your dreams, relentlessly pursue them, find passion and follow that. When something clicks like programming, and living a simple life on/by the water, follow that, and it will make itself happen for you as long as you keep taking those steps no matter how small. You got this man. I’d like to send you a T-shirt, so if you can email me or find me on insta I’ll coordinate sending one to you for free!
Watching you work helps motivate me to work on my boat. I've reached my least favorite part: sanding and painting. I need all the motivation i can get.
You can do it! Think of lovely summer evenings floating in pure bliss, we’ll see life on the water again soon I know it! I also seek motivation from other sailing channels to get out there can get something done on the boat every time I’m there.
Things are looking good man. We have just finished the exterior of our Seafarer 38 this past week. Starting this week on the new rigging. Hope to start the interior in march. I enjoy watching what you do with the interior. I still haven’t figured out how I want to do mine. Thanks again
That's great news! I would love to see your SF38, I am always interested in seeing a Seafarer, and the 38's look like a lot of fun, please keep me updated on your progress!
I know that i have pointed this out before, but if you would fiberglass prior to the install (i.e.: the supports that you added to the front of the quarter berth) you would not have to try to sand in place -- you could just glue the finished product in place with thickened epoxy yielding less cleanup. Main reason for watching is to see other people's problem solving methods versus my own -- it never hurts to see other people's methods as something can always be learned -- even from other people's failures and mishaps.
Yes! The next time I am installing any supports or walls I will follow your advice, I will also give it a sanding so that its ready for paint now, thank you for thinking ahead and saving me time and effort in the long run!

I am working on a similar boat. But it is a thousand miles away.
We’ll be on the water someday, hopefully by the time I make it over there we can raft up! ⛵️⛵️
