Maybe "Enchanted Wish" is a reference to the song "I'm Wishing" that she sings at the wishing well? Honestly I thought the whole point of the update was to make it less scary, so I figured there would be less of the haunted woods and the witch jumping out at you. I'm excited about the new additions, but I just don't want it to end up like the Little Mermaid dark ride where Ursula is defeated in a shadow off in the corner.
I agree there is gonna be a singing wishing well scene of her and the prince taking the place of some of that dark scary stuff. More of her and prince less creepy woods
I don’t know if the ride will necessarily be “better“, esp for those of us used to the 80s version, but now I feel like the ride makes SENSE. It was just so thrown together before, with no real order or effects?! It needed this. I think this shows that Disney wants to take care of these (ancient!) dark rides...they will keep the feel, and the track system, of the original ride (footprint can’t change), but they continue updating it for new generation, and new technology. 🤷🏼♀️😍
I was definitely feeling iffy about them changing things but as usually I’m happy with the changes they made! It looks so tastefully renovated, it doesn’t feel like they tried to cover the ride in modern CG affects, it’s all practical and respectfully retro. Can’t wait to see it all in person!
They didn’t necessarily remove the “scary” as much as they improved the storytelling, which I’m so happy about. The dungeon scene in the queue is updated to be Snow White as a maid and from there on is her running away to the Dwarf’s cottage at the loading station. I love the use of the storybooks in the queue (RIP the Apple prop) and how that ties in with the big storybook mural at the end of the ride. I also imagine the queen’s scenes in her castle will remain largely unchanged, but I’m predicting the boat scene will be switched out with Snow White eating the Apple which then transitions into a “sad” forest scene with the kiss scene replacing the final cottage (check out the turn in the concept out, it matches up with the track). I’m super glad Kim Irvine oversaw the project. If I’m not mistaken she helped with the original reimagining in 1983. I’m so excited for this! I was originally very skeptical but now that I see it I’m stoked!
When she was 4 my daughter rode this so much the CM told her to stay seated at the end if she just wanted to ride again. She must have ridden 30 times with my mom before Grandma needed a break and I rode with her (there was little to no line). She was always scared but she loved it. The additions are easing my concerns about the updates. What they show looks really good. Thank you for comparing the scenes - then and now. Great job on this video (as usual 😊)
Aww man! I loved the scary elements. The best part was the witches dungeon where you could hear the witch just around the corner ! Looks like they just made a warm and fuzzy version like Winnie the Pooh ride. What's next? Are the ghosts too scary in the Haunted Mansion! Crap!
I have been blessed to have 2 young girls who are not afraid of the original ride. I have also known several kids who refused to ride it. I imagine this will help get more folks on the ride and spread crowds out which I again imagine is a goal. Love the changes
Look at this David has at 3 videos in one day. A long time ago, in a state far far away, at least for me, there was a park called Disneyland that used to be open and bring great joy, however a great curse was put on the castle until someone can break the curse. It's great to see you happy today you guys.
The kiss scene in the Disney Parks video replaces the scene with the hag outside the cottage. Then you turn the corner and see the ending from the concept art with Snow White (bird on her hand as we glimpsed in this video) on the hill with the Prince and his horse. The entire dark forest scene has also been replaced to show the events leading to the kiss.
The original description for this update talks about Snow White’s forest friends so I think the unplaced figure is from a brightened up forest scene. Paris’ version has a clearer ending, along with an AA of the Prince, so I think we will have something more like that. And the changes we know about the entryway (exterior paint, name change and the room in the queue) suggest to me that the Queen/Hag’s role is much reduced. And maybe that’s not the worst thing right now, celebrating Snow White’s cheerfulness and resilience over Grimhilde’s vanity and spite. I liked the Queen glancing out from the window but will it still fit within the brighter colors?
Also, I interpret the name change as a tribute to The wish Snow made in the wishing well about finding her true love in the beginning, and then finding that love in the end of the movie.
If I had to guess, it looks like the glass coffin scene is at the end of the forest where the Hag pops out of the cottage at the end. You can see the bus bar at the bottom of the frame turning to the left. Which makes me wonder what comes after then, because there's still a few yards of track after. Maybe the dwarves waving goodbye? Who knows. I'm excited
im not understanding why they didnt figure snow white didnt need a real full dress that moves with her turning when the dwarves get real clothes. i mean at least the bottom half , which would dramaticly brought the scene to life.
I can tell you that I went through the original ride back in the 1960s and I cried the first time - and every time after that until I was a teenager I closed my eyes most of the ride. There was nothing "happy" about that ride as I remember it except for the beginning with Snow White in the forest. I think the ride ended with the Old Witch trying to dump a rock on you. Meanwhile, I LOVED the Peter Pan, Mr. Toad and Alice in Wonderland rides.
I distinctly remember going through a room where it was supposed to be a dark forest with glowing eyes peeping out everywhere - just as it happens in the movie when Snow White runs into the forest after the Hunter tells her he was supposed to kill her. I closed my eye right then and there.
There has been two pieces of concept art released for this. Snow White with the bluebird is from the very end where the Dwarves, the Witch, and the rock are now. I’m assuming that the Prince kissing Snow White is where the Cottage scene is in the haunted forest.
I'm excited. I'm a little scared that they butchered the Scary Forest scene, but I'm still overall excited if they didn't. Every visit, my appreciation for the Fantasyland dark rides grows. The projections look fantastic and not overbearing, plus the new practical sets definitely continue the charm of the old ride. From the things we've seen so far, I think this will be right in between the enhancements made to Peter Pan and Alice. Where Alice changed a lot and Peter changed a little, I think Snow White will be somewhere in the middle. Can't wait to see this attraction in person, ans I hope it bodes well for enhancements to Pinocchio, Mr. Toad, and maybe even Roger Rabbit or Buzz. I think all of those attractions could stand to gain from the treatment given to Peter Pan, Alice, and Snow White, especially as more and more people learn to appreciate the Fantasyland dark rides when they have to sit next to things like Rise of the Resistance and Indiana Jones.
Book reads (from the parts that aren't obscured) "As the Queens jealous wrath also grew, Snow White escaped to the ____ forest and found ____ with the kindly Seven Dwarfs"
Also something I noticed that wasn't mentioned, was that in the first sequence/room with the animated clothing line, before there was only a window peering into the next room with all the dwarves; whereas now, they opened up the entire wall so that from either side, you can see the dwarves as well as the new Snow White figure dancing.
Thanks for this video! It's crazy to think about the updates Disney can be doing behind the scenes with Disneyland closed for so long. I would think that the reason they didn't show the dark forest is because it is also changing and they didn't want to give it away yet. The whole point of this upgrade is to make it less scary and tell a better story, and they won't be able to do that if they keep the entire forest scene with the witch popping out a bunch of times. I expect that scene to be incorporated into a new grand finale so the ride won't be disjointed.
Never. We need scary rides. If kids are scared, it's not Disney's fault that they're chicken. I also expect Snow White to be scary again in 15 years or less from now. We need scary in Disneyland.
The new mine looks great... As long as they keep the scary parts, that's fine. I'm just worried that they'll cut all that stuff out. Snow White was my second favourite horror ride at Disneyland after the Haunted Mansion.
I prefer the original version at Disneyworld where the witch pops out alot cackling and the scary trees moaning and the freaked out looks on the furniture's faces as well as the animals in the dwarfs cottage as they climb the stairs to see a shadowy figure on top of the stairs that appears to be a ghost moaning and wailing and the part where the witch tries to cause a cave in in the mine and then send a mine cart towards the riders and then finally crushing our guests to death with a giant diamond at the end and how it shows the flashes at the end showing that she had succeeded at killing the riders and they all lived happily ever after or at least the witch did.
I saw the complete footage. It’s 100x better than the older version, (and I love the old version). They did not remove the Queen’s transformation) !! The storyline makes more sense...beginning, middle and ending. I’m excited!

I have a feeling the scary forest right before the ending is where the concept art at 13:01 will come in, rather than that concept art happening at the very end. If you look the track is going in the same direction as it does in the forest, and this would make more sense as the kiss would be a quick ending without seeing Snow White “alive” again. Maybe then at the very end that piece of Snow White holding the bird will show up. Just a thought!
The wall and window behind the turn-table Snow White seems to have been removed and opened up. I look forward to seeing if there are additional changes to the dark forest and scenes of the old witch. Thanks for the review.
I think Pinocchio would be next and likely not toads since toads ride is somewhat fast and can be difficult to add projections while passing through scenes fast
I remember at snow white ride at Disneyworld when I was a kid, now we have some sort of a roller coaster that is interesting. I honestly think this Disney ride is better.
The dungeon in the queue will forever be missed. Used the scare the heck out of me as a little kid. Last year it scared my little nephew.... Never again.
I believe that what you see at 16:23 is what will replace the dark forest scene near the end of the ride. That's not concept art, it is video of the completed scene on the ride.
This ride was dark. Extremely. I hope they lightened it up just enough and were able to keep the dark scenes essential to the story. Maybe they could move the witch's death scene further up in the ride and still have room for the new ending.
I was anxious to get your take on this info, so thank you (as always) for the thoughtful analysis. I'm guess the "Enchanted Wish" part of the new name is referring to the "I'm Wishing" song from the film?
Great video!!!! I think I'm more interested in what the Haunted Mansion will look like after the renovation! Also, are they going to start on Splash Mountain while the park is closed???
From the changes they did make it looks as though they kept it as an update restoration in that it could be reversed. That way in the future, if decided to take it back to original it could be done. Lots of added elements without big structural changes which is a nice gentle upgrade without a huge redo. The Enchanted Wish likely is a call back to her famous song at the well. I can read parts of the right side of the book which looks to say "... Queen's jealous wrath then grew. Snow White escaped to the enchanted? forest and found .... the home? of the Seven? Dwarves"
Surprised he didn't notice another change to the facade: the skulls were removed. Above the title of the ride, there were crows standing on skulls... now the stand on little pedestals with crown engravings on them.
I LOVED this video! super helpful to see footage of the old and new together to really understand the updates! I just hope the Evil Queen's transformation scene survives
I think that scene where snow white is kissed awake is in place of the forest now (at that left turn towards the cottage with the Witch), because the concept art shows the minecart coming from the right to the left, unlike the left to right ending where the dwarfs are pointing at the Queen (finale), so I’m GUESSING in place of the dwarfs and the queen finale it’ll be Snow white and everyone all happy in the forest. 🤷♀️
I think they will replace that wall / giant story book at the end of the ride. I'm imagining a shallow diorama (similar to the one's in Sleeping Beauty's Castle) showing the kiss, with projected sunset. I don't think the cliff scene will removed, as it's the best part of the original ride.
I don’t have any attachment to the old Snow White so looking forward to seeing what they’ve done to improve it, I’m hoping sometime soon we will be able to ride it, thanks again David
There appears to be a projection of the dwarfs shadows going to work in the forest scene after the cottage. It could be possible they got rid of the queen figure peeking through the windows which is really disappointing.
I believe that the scene with the Prince waking up Snow White will replace much of the dark forest- where those trees and crocodiles were. Perhaps the poison apple scene could be replaced too. The Happily Ever After Scene with Snow White and her forest friends (which may be where that other Snow White figure will go) will be replacing the final scene with the dwarfs and the witch getting hit by a boulder.
Great video David . I like the updates. It’s definitely brighter. Can’t wait to see it all. It has elements of the Mine Train ride without the coaster part.
I am sad to see the original go but this update looks great! The original scared the crap out of me since I was a little girl all the way to adulthood. I was still afraid of the ride and I'm 25 haha
I really hope they didn't remove the dark forest or the skeletons in the dungeon but I think you're right. Especially if their goal is to make everything more "family friendly" but dang those trees were so awesome. I tell ya, Toad is next and I feel like they'll make that all happy since they go to Hell LOL
This is my concern too; Disney as of late seems to think that children don't enjoy being thrilled, and I wish they'd give them a little bit more credit. Not everything has to be all sunshine and rainbows; the old Disney films these rides are based on sure weren't.
@@taiteapker2292 Exactly! When I worked at Disney I would always get kiddos telling me how much they loved Alien Encounter or Dinosaur!! Which to me is even more "scary" then this was. Some kids eat this stuff up and or it helps them conquer fear. I wish Disney would have let parents decide if their kiddos wanted to go on this ride instead of changing it up completely.
I’m so happy they updated this ride! When my kids were little they were afraid when I took them on this ride😬 So we quit going on it. So happy to see this🥰
Hope the rumors about the Stretching Portrait room of the Haunted Mansion being changed or censored aren't true. What happened to Artistic Integrity?? Those artist's that put their hearts and souls into creating art for Walt Disney. Marc Davis, "X"Atencio, Claude Coates, Yale Gracey, Rolly Crump.
They did show a clip of the kissing scene, not sure what you are talking about. I think potentially everything after the mine scene has been replaced, that's why they didn't go into detail because that's all a surprise.
I the film her wish was “ for the one I love to find me”. Not enchanted and not referenced in any scenes in the ride. Maybe it’ll be the music over the happy ending. I like the changes they’ve shown. The bright part can be brighter as long a the dark part stays dark we’ll see. And I still think that Kylo Ren spinning around in “Rise” is an Easter egg/homage to the queen to hag scene in Snow White.
Be nice to see tiana with a ride like instead of splash mountain. Bc I am paranoid of the drop. Lol. As much as I am scared of snow white lol. So to think of splash mountain with tiana and trying to enjoy the ride but i can't bc of the drop lol. And dose anyone remember that dopey with the diamond in his eyes. He was the mascot for the 60th anniversary diamond event and also that night was the 24hrs event. I have it on a lime green shirt that says being up all night makes me dopey. Lol. Such memories..man i missed Disneyland.
I guess the "Enchanted Wish" name is a reference to the "I'm Wishing" song... but I don't get how her wish is enchanted? Snow White's wish was actually very pedestrian.... like, I don't want to be a servant any more. Not much enchanted about that!!
I just hope the evil queen still peaks through the window outside. That’s really all I want
I don't see them removing that.
true !!!
And the golden apple at the front of the queue, looks like it’s gone. 😢
Me too that part was not bad at all inspite the actual ride being a nightmare lol.
@@FreshBakedDisney me neither, too iconic to remove. At least I hope lol.
Let's hope that they bring back Snow White's Scary Adventure (in tone) as a Halloween seasonal layout.
They better not have removed the witch and mirror turntable.
It’s every kids right of passage to get the crap scared out of them by that illusion 😂
They didn't
I guess I'm kinda off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch new series online ?

Totally agree! Small and simple is what so many of us love ❤️ Snow White looks so beautiful ❤️
When my dad was a kid in the 50's he said the part where the dwarves chase the witch in the rain up to the cliff scared the heck out of him. hahaha.
There's a website that documented the original 50s version of the ride. Just reading about it sounded scary.

I am so excited for the revamp ❤️🎈
so am i!
Isn’t haunted mansion just routine maintenance? I didn’t think people were expecting any real changes.
@@jennycraigadventures3314 They may be tweaking some things here and there. We'll see.
They promised Splash Mountain would reopen as is. And it makes more financial sense to hold off for awhile, does it not?
The book has a part of the Snow White story written on it
From the changes they did make it looks as though they kept it as an update restoration in that it could be reversed.
This ride was really scary to me as a child. I rode it before the 83 refurbishment . I look forward to any rides at Disneyland.
Thanks for sharing this video!!!!
But they did show the ending with him kissing her with the effects it’s in the video. So that’s the one in the concept art.
Yeah I saw that too
I think they will replace that wall / giant story book at the end of the ride. I'm imagining a shallow diorama (similar to the one's in Sleeping Beauty's Castle) showing the kiss, with projected sunset. I don't think the cliff scene will removed, as it's the best part of the original ride.
im looking forward to riding it when disneyland reopens:)
I don’t have any attachment to the old Snow White so looking forward to seeing what they’ve done to improve it,
I’m hoping sometime soon we will be able to ride it, thanks again David
Can’t wait to ride it !!!
dont forget about the apple pie scent. im excited for that!
One of my favorite Cinamax movies is Snow White's Fifty Shades of Grey.
Great video David . I like the updates. It’s definitely brighter. Can’t wait to see it all. It has elements of the Mine Train ride without the coaster part.
They had the remodeled Snow White ride on the news this morning!Kinda like the Florida one with all the jewels. It ends with a happy ending!!!
I like scary stuff sometimes and this ride was scary lol darn that creepy Forrest and death scene lol
Excellent video as always.
Reverse portrait mode looks greeeeeeeeeat.
awesome work
I am sad to see the original go but this update looks great! The original scared the crap out of me since I was a little girl all the way to adulthood. I was still afraid of the ride and I'm 25 haha
haha🤣🤣🤣
I really hope they didn't remove the dark forest or the skeletons in the dungeon but I think you're right. Especially if their goal is to make everything more "family friendly" but dang those trees were so awesome. I tell ya, Toad is next and I feel like they'll make that all happy since they go to Hell LOL
This is my concern too; Disney as of late seems to think that children don't enjoy being thrilled, and I wish they'd give them a little bit more credit. Not everything has to be all sunshine and rainbows; the old Disney films these rides are based on sure weren't.
When they renovate Toad's, they will probably turn the hell scene into heaven lol
@@CB-if5yi HA! I know right, such a shame.
I think the Boulder scene will be a projection
Maybe
I’m so happy they updated this ride! When my kids were little they were afraid when I took them on this ride😬 So we quit going on it. So happy to see this🥰
I think SW with the bird will be in a forest dancing scene from the movie and replace the scary forest scene.
Seeing witch once is more than enough
Hope the rumors about the Stretching Portrait room of the Haunted Mansion being changed or censored aren't true. What happened to Artistic Integrity?? Those artist's that put their hearts and souls into creating art for Walt Disney. Marc Davis, "X"Atencio, Claude Coates, Yale Gracey, Rolly Crump.
Thanks for the video David 😎👍
Never got to ride the 1960’s version. My sisters said it was too scary for me.
If I have to read some story about John Stamos buying the removed dwarfs in a few months, I'm going to be miffed!
We need a villains land so we can have scary stuff. I am happy they took the time to give Snow some love, and a better ending.
Cool idea!
The book might be Snow White’s fairytale book I could easily read on the page once upon a time. Your welcome.
I guess the "Enchanted Wish" name is a reference to the "I'm Wishing" song... but I don't get how her wish is enchanted? Snow White's wish was actually very pedestrian.... like, I don't want to be a servant any more. Not much enchanted about that!!
That image is the ending, but you didnt show the projection prince sequence from the Disney Parks video.
Okay you did but you didnt realize it haha
