My husband had a great idea for museums, and it would be using copies. Send the originals back to where they're supposed to be from, of course. Make copies for show and use and have educators or classes available to talk about and teach people how these objects are made and the culture surrounding it.

great video, great people, great talk! i felt like sitting on a café and listening to great friends talking about their interests and studies... Learned a lot and hope we can see more talks like this in the future. Keep up with the great work girls! :)

To answer your question regarding the woodblock, yes they do degrade over time with repeated use so that is most likely why they won't make more. A documented example of this is one of Hokuzai's Mt Fuji pieces. If you look at different prints made from that woodblock from different times, you start to see small gaps where pieces of the carving have chipped away.

Yeah, I went back to research a bit of why and you’re totally right! It’s super long so there’s more stress on it. 😩

    1) FASCINATING discussion as always! I have had similar debates with myself in my head! 2) I could never get a keychain as a kid and know for certain I could not get a dollar store hankou (sp?)

Lmao I also could never get a name key change! I feel the dollar store hankies is a cosmic consolation prize 🤣
