I am gonna miss the shit out of seeing that backhand. Such a great guy. I hope we get a couple of glimpses of him slashing some backhand winners down the line. Bye Domi. Thanks for the memories.

I absolutely agree with everything you just said about Dominic Thiem.
He is my favourite player, so exciting to watch, I will really miss watching him playing.
It is my wish too, hoping for a sudden & miraculous return to form, changing his mind.
Zverev has already mentioned the idea that Dominic could have surgery on his wrist as Misha Zverev did.
We can dream, but it feels like he has made his decision .
Fantastic player, such a shame, I feel there could be so much more to achieve.😢❤

If you remember the time between his US Open title and his injury you see the slight decline in his performance on the court, especially when you rewatch his match against Dimitrov in the AO 2021. He confessed that his motiviation dropped drastically after his USO title. He said that his personality differs from players who kind of explode after their first Grand Slam title. However we will miss him very, very much. Domi, enjoy you post-tennis life - we are very thankful for all the great memories!

His topspin backhand on clay was the only one to withstand Nadal's lefty's forehand and even sometimes take the best over it. An unbelievable shot, a wonderful player.

Its true that the injury is very understandable at this age but I wish he could just rest for longer on his wrist and make a comeback rather than retiring abruptly. He's only 31 and another 3 more years on the tour would suffice , not to mention, that he might he a late boomer like Wawrinka. He's talented and has a great deal of natural touches and skills unlike the monotonous baseliners. In my opinion, he deserves another major clay court title and he's got some unfinished business.

Thank you so much for taking the time to honor a truly amazing man and phenomenal tennis player. I couldn’t agree with you more !! I got to see him play at the US Open 2023 and beat Bublik. I would love to see him keep playing . He is so loved and respected all over the world!!

When you’re used to making the second week of slams and winning tournaments on a regular basis and then you can’t beat guys you used to own and your ranking is in the 100’s it’s a world of shit. Understandable for Dominic.
What bothered me more than anything was that he blew out his wrist on some Mickey Mouse grass court event in Mallorca, Spain back in 2021. Just a few months after his US Open win.

Heartbreaking! I thought after Federer retired, at least I could follow him, but ... too bad for tennis

I think he lost motivation after reaching his dream…he even mentioned his problem with motivation after us open 2020…and then the wrist injury caused him to lose fitness etc etc and in the end tennis overtook him
