Patch 2 is precisely what makes this synth a knockout for me, personally. It sounds like it came from a vintage, boutique synthesizer, but instead it's this (lovable) little bean! This synth is an absolute sleeper, imho
Happy to see a Miniloque XD again! Im really happy with mine. The only thing I wish it had is a drive knob, the switches are too static for me! Great job on the video !
@@SlowHaste hi i believe you can get additional filters with the user fx, i have some of the sinevibe fx plugins for the XD Albedo granular reverb is really nice. Keep up the good work i really enjoy the content you put out. I currenty have my XD set up with the DT & DN it makes a great compact set up very versatile.
They’re built pretty solid too although the keybed feels pretty flimsy. It is fun though. You can get a lot of different kinds of sounds out of the thing.
@@KBizzy I have both the module and keys versions, and the module is overall better built as the underside is also metal. It's also nicely compact. The keybed on the keys version lacks aftertouch although it can receive it via MIDI, so if a buyer is going to be using AT often, then the module is their best bet.
FWIW: At the moment, the keys version is on sale for new at some places (hint: any affiliate link) at a lower cost than the keyless Module version, the latter of which I have and love.
Would you recommend Korg Minilogue XD to someone who wants to learn sound design (beginner) or would you say it's better to play around with digital synths first? I wanted something I can put time into and grow with it for years to come. From what I've seen Korg Minilogue XD seems to fit that description but I'm not sure if it's too big of a leap to start here.
I don’t think it’s too big of a leap at all! If it’s in your budget, and you think that you’d prefer hardware over software, it’s a good starting point. Easy to learn with plenty to grow into. I always recommend buying used, too!
I agree, this synth is great for that. You get a knob per function and very minimal menu diving. This is huge about it. While, say, a Microkorg is also a great tool for sound design, its not beginner friendly. The Microkorg's user interface is confusing because you have only a few knobs to control alot of different parameters. Its not intuitive if you havent learned what some terms used for synthesis mean. The Minilogue XD is great for beginners and for advanced users exactly because almost everything is right in front of you. Its a very safe bet to have one of these. Digital synths will give you more polyphony, depending on the synth, but more polyphony doesnt automatically mean better.
HELP: When I select EDIT MODE the MULTI ENGINE page comes on BUT I don't see the "NOISE 1" feature? All I see is MULI ENGINE and the USB icon at the bottom left. I've already reset the Factory Reset. Also, the sound your playing on NOISE 1 function is found nowhere. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help. Did you create a preset and thats why it shows up on yours?
dude! show us how you did that harmonium patch. I copied the knob positions but did not get the sound that you're playing at all. I LOVE harmonium sounds
Hey! would you recommend this for a second synth to add Bass/ Drums/Percussions sounds? I want to couple a Mono synth with my Lead 4, mainly it doesn't have a sequencer. TIA

Hey, I’m not at all familiar with the uno synth pro, but I really enjoy the tactility and knob-per-function of the minilogue - especially as a first hardware synth, I think that can be really valuable!

Thank you!! I have some music theory knowledge but it’s pretty basic. I’m definitely not a keys player, and I tend to use my synths as sound design tools and then program specific chords I want to sample/chop up, but I’ve been working on my key playing skills recently - trying to get better in 2023!
@@marc3dIt was an excellent first synth but After I got the Digitone the xd sat in a cupboard for months. I just recently got a REV2 and now feel like I don't need anything else for the rest of my life
Just goes to show it’s all in the musician, not the gear. I never would’ve thought to do this, and I’m sure my Hydrasynth can do all of this or at least get close.
There's only one thing that's almost a deal-breaker (I discovered)...there're no Up/Down or +/- buttons so you have to scroll like crazy for a specific sound, even if you can jump by 10 when holding down "Shift". On my MS 2000 you can scroll by button and saving the pot/encoder. Why Korg, why? Also, it's like 2020 so why not put in a meagre memory card for ten thousand patches, lol. I hate to erase RAM memory for new sounds...it's like 1990 or something, it's a very annoying limitation.
I’m sure you could! That’s one of the reasons I love it so much, it’s a great learning tool cause you can just watch what’s happening & hear the results
It's so weird how these have gone up in price. I bought mine used for €390 pre-covid and currently I'm seeing them used between €450 and €550. The module used to go between €350-€400 used but I can't even find those. On Thomann the Minilogue xd is currently being sold for €665 which is absolutely insane. It's a good synth, but not worth that much.

If you’re primarily wanting drums/percussion, I’d be more inclined to suggest a dedicated drum machine! But for bass sounds, I’d definitely recommend

In my studio I use a pretty cheap pair of Presonus monitors, but I usually mix using headphones (Sennheiser HD 569)

Yeah that preset knob gets a lot of use!!
It is annoying. And for whatever reason the knob just doesn’t seem to scroll fast enough
Use the favourites panel to split up the patches....100/200/300 etc
