So people could just show up to the show and get in, so a lot of times fans would go to be part of the audience. I think they might have actually separated us, people who wanted to see the show and people who wanted to be in the crowd, don’t remember.
You can tell she really put her voice through some hell. Seems like she has trouble with the notes nowadays and I imagine her sickness still had some lasting damage. Makes me sad when artists like her or Cedric Bixler Zavala lose their abilities to sing because they have such unique voices.
She's touring again with her old band Bikini Kill and from what I've seen on fan vids at a concert she still sounds good. I'm excited to see her in Brooklyn next year! :)
You seriously cannot not dance to Le Tigre. The only time I got to see them in 2001, they had to stop the show early because the floor at the Arts Center they were playing at was literally about to collapse. They asked the packed crowd to limit their dancing, but it was impossible.
Those were the last of those weird times when the internet was still relatively fresh some bands would release an album and it would take like at least 5 years for it to actually get noticed. Now a band or artist can release an album and it's considered old news after just a month.
Your comment is from 5 years ago and it's only gotten worse. Trending songs and fashion blow up so fast now thanks to TikTok that everyone knows about them and then gets sick of them within a few months. At the same time, there is way more new music being released and easily accessed than ever due to the ease of creating and sharing music, so it's impossible to keep up with everything that has some buzz around it. It also feels like music related subcultures have declined a lot. There seems to be a default that a majority (not all) of Gen Z follow that is dictated by what is trending on TikTok, Spotify, and fast fashion chains. Not that this is new but I think the platforms/sources of influence have declined while influencing a much larger portion of young people than 20+ years ago and the rate at which the changes happen is way faster.
What always strikes me about this video is how incredibly confident and sure of herself Kathleen is - she puts her hand on her hips and leans into the audience. She is so awesome and sexy - blows my mind. Just not something you see everyday. But, recently, I was noticing how the blonde in the audience looks just like Megan Rapinoe from USWNT. Le Tigre and Kathleen are amazing!
One of my all time favorites. Kathleen Hanna really channels the late great Poly Styrene (from X-Ray Spex) so freaking well on this song! Absolutely love her energy!!!
If you think they were ahead of their time, just wait until you see pictures of Metallica wearing thrasher shirts in the 80s when the magazine first came out 🤦♂️
lol the crowd dancing looks like a clip from a school dance scene in an old molly ringwold teen movie. i do love this band though as well as bratmobile, bikini kill, jack off jill ect...
Probably my favorite music video of all time, just behind Steppenwolf's "The Pusher" and Deep Purple's "No One Came" and a bunch of the B52's videos. Just Outstanding!
I *just* got into Kathleen Hanna's music, maybe a month ago. I can't believe it took me such a long time, cause I'm almost 30 now, and I love many bands from around the same scene. The first thing I heard was Deceptacon, and it was an instant favourite. My first thought was "OH, this is some FUN music" 🤩 This performance and the audience's reactions prove that - it's fun music for fun people who like playing, dancing, experiments and speaking their mind. Such a great song ❤❤❤
Last Call w/ Carson Daly was actually an awesome show. I was exposed to some really unique bands and artists with his show. I think it came on at either midnight or 1am and I always made such an effort to stay up and watch it. I hope there are a bunch of "episodes" uploaded here on youtube or some other site.
That is the difference. Some people are just hip and are being themselves. Then some people see these hip people and have no personality themselves so they emulate them. That is a hipster. Some people get labeled hipsters and they aren't. They're just hip people. Cool motherfuckers who were just being themselves before everyone started to copy them. Hence: Beck. And also hence the reason telus adds basically use my entire itunes library from 4 years ago. lol
I fkn love this song. I remember there used to be a video with all 4chan gifs with this. Anyway how does she have the lung capacity to yell-sing the whole time?
I always imagine I'm being the singer while also vining into the song while everyone jumping and dancing, that is what I always wanted to expect from the audience late at night
This band was way ahead of time
Israel they definitely were a few years early for the 80s revival
Clearly, you were not doing the NYC club scene, mid-70s through about 1983.
That said, they're still a lot of fun. Cheers.
This song sounds like it came out 20 years earlier tho
Post-hardcore punk was like this in the late 90s, reminds you of Sunshine from Mars Volta's record label, it's the same culture
X-ray Spex was around in the 70s though.
A late night audience actually dancing to the music? That’s something I’ve never seen before.
How tf did this get more than 600 likes and not one comment
And not one person recording on their f'ing cell phone ! [ there. a comment ]
@@jcee7714 lol yeah that was pretty common in 2003

I recorded lots of shows back then on my digital camera (glad i did) but it had the quality of a potato 😅
The world wasnt ready for Le Tigre
B52s? Devo? GoGos?
LeTigre just offshoot of early-mid 90s alternative music
There were alot of similar bands during and after this time that never made it.
The world said 1 is enough😂
Neither was I
We need them now more than ever...
This song makes me think of my husband. He plays it all the time. I love him. :)

AWESOME VIDEO QUALITY LITERALLY NO EXAGGERATION OR SARCASM INTENDED!

Carson like good music.
He just did that crappy TRL boy bands and TRL crap rap bands for $$$.
Shit? I would've too!
Poly Styrene from X-Ray Specs comes to mind immediately. Loved Poly.
Yes indeed and more than a hint of Joy Division
I was gonna say that. When i heard the song on a video, It reminded me of her

Killer with the B-52's influence
Takaho Demboski Kathleen Hanna is her own thing. Love B52s, but Killers? Bikini Kill is way better
Jason Peter's meh, they suck ass
Jason Peter's B-52’s>>>>>
fuck the b 52s
Very B-52s!
I love them so much
People were so happy during these years
Well, at least during the three minutes of this song…
just phenomenal version that slays the already great original!!! DE-finitive & would make a corpse rise from the dead to the dancefloor
I have hundreds of favorites, but this is my favorite still after 6 years.
i love kathleen hanna so much, she really seems to care about what's she's doing but still has fun, my queen
