My biggest beef with Lume is the price. I feel like we're paying $2 for the product cost, $4 for their profits and $14 for their giant advertising budget.
I have tried a ton of “natural” deodorants as I am allergic to the aluminum in most conventional antiperspirants. Let me tell you LUME hands down is the best I’ve ever tried, natural or conventional. There is absolutely no smell. No matter how much I sweat in the gym, or put on my small farm, there is no smell.
I agree. Lume has worked for me but I have to use it everyday. I don't have a vag infection or any of those infections; just body odor that people get in their armpits. I've been prescribed antibiotics over and over to take care of this issue but obviously once the meds run out the stink comes back. It doesn't matter if I wear cotton panties or loose fitted clothes. The only thing that I've found that has worked is to GIVE UP all sugars - bread, cakes, rice, noodles, pasta, etc. I can only have fruit as a sweet item and, guys, this effing sucks, trust me. Lume works for me and I will continue to use it.
@Crystal Letona I have the tangerine and it’s very soft, barely noticeable. And after being on my skin for a minute or two, the scent is gone and that’s exactly how I like it. The unscented is just a little “smelly” for me.
Lume has made a major difference for me! Working 12 hr shifts in a hospital, I sometimes smell like a high school boys locker room. I put Lume on my groin and my feet and I have no odor when I’m done with my shift! I don’t think anyone else “smells” me but it gives me peace of mind
I have used Lume (unscented) along my panty line for the last several months and it has been life-changing for me. I sweat heavily "below the belt" and Lume has completely solved the odor issue. I will be re-ordering it for sure.
That is where I put it for the same reason. I think I smell worse once I sweat with the lume on! I have tried 4 scents and the unscented and they all smell bad ☹
@@maryzigarevich6777 Well technically only in your vagina is on the inside. So people may be confused and put it all over the vulva. I'd never do that, but you know.
100% works to eliminate odor. And CertainDri roll-on do reduce sweat production. And when you are almost done with the tube, just add water, shake well, put in a spray bottle and use as a shoe deodorant.
I’ve always struggled with finding a good deodorant. Degree Clinical is the only thing that has kept smells away. I’ve been using Lume Unscented for a month now and I was super skeptical about it even working… and OMG it does work!!! Yes, you’ll sweat a bit but ZERO smell. I feel so confident and happy! I have a backup plan, if I see myself sweating more than I’m ok with, then I’ll use the Degree Clinical at night maybe once a week and then just use Lume on a daily basis.
I've been using lume for over a month now and I am blown away at how well this works for me personally. I use it under my arms and private areas, no irritation at all and it does exactly what it says it will. It is a little pricy, however a little goes a long way and I'm still on my first tube. My husband who works in construction finally listened to me and tried it. Needless to say, he's impressed with its results and is still using it. Plus it doesn't have the aluminum and chemicals like regular antiperspirants and deodorants.
Has anyone tried that clothes spray Lume markets to get stink out of clothing? I will wash our laundry and my hubby’s shirt will still smell a bit like pits. I am wondering if the laundry stuff is worth it.
I have to use clinical strength Secret and it has been the only thing that works for me. Every natural deodorant I have tried doesn’t work. I’m tempted to try Lume.
I absolutely love this product. I am not a “natural deodorant” person. I tried it because of the claim that it can be used in the groin area. If you know what I’m talking about, you know. Not vaginal. My parts are healthy. My sister and cousin are also loving it. It doesn’t need to be used everyday.
I use lumē unscented and I love it! I still have a little wetness, but absolutely no smells. The formula has a very strange smell to it when you first apply, but that doesn’t stick around. I highly recommend for the pits, haven’t tried it anywhere else.
I've bought SO much Lumé deodorant and soap! I've bought every fragrance with the exception of unscented. My daughter says it smells "funky" to her as some here in the comments have suggested. For me it has worked AMAZINGLY! I absolutely LOVE it! It lasts 72 hours also! I use it EVERYWHERE!! The fragrance dissipates quickly but, the odor prevention is SUPERB! Doesn't clash with my perfume either! Lastly, I found the commercials HILARIOUS! They actually made me want to try it! Been using the product since March. I'm a customer for life! Lol!
I love Lume too! Nothing else has worked for me. I keep sniffing my underarms and am amazed at how well this is working! I love the spruce scent and the lime. Great product for odor head to toe!
@@jocekhiy626 it doesn't! The orange smells soft! I've found that the actual fragrance dissipates quickly no matter which scent! I just bought them all to see which one I like best! Lol!
My odor in my privates was just fine for most of my life. But, but after my 40s, it got worse and worse until became unbearable. Then I followed your advice and I switched to only using water. I couldn't believe the problem was over in 3 days. I was blown away how little information we have about the most basic things on our health and hygiene! Dr. Dray, you really are making a difference in this crazy world. I wish you talked about other Healthcare issues, besides dermatology...
After menopause, hormones definitely shift & cause body odour. I started Testosterone about 5 months ago & I'm getting a great deal of menopausal symptoms [which is inconvenient but fine by me, personally]... One of the first things I noticed is that I smell so much more than I did before! It's wild how fast it changed. Thankfully my hot flashes are getting fewer & farther between now, lolol Going in w/ just water is so important for vaginal health. Using soaps on the bikini line is okay, but you're just setting yourself up for discomfort & yeast infections, especially when you're experiencing a hormonal shift... Gotta keep it as healthy as possible. 😊
@@ZijnShayatanicawhy are you only taking testosterone for menopause when the treatment is an estradiol patch with an oral progesterone (if you still have a uterus). My body odor improved with hormone replacement.
@@kam0406 Oh, I'm not taking it as a treatment for menopause! Lol. I'm using it because I'm trans, but some of the first symptoms are obv things like hot flashes because you're putting your body through a very similar hormonal shift. It's not exactly the same, but... Similar enough that I figure I have useful input in the matter. Sorry for the confusion!! As far as a treatment for menopause, I think some women/females who have a high risk of Estrogen-responsive cancers use Testosterone during menopause?? But it's definitely uncommon. I read about it when I was assessing the risks/benefits on my body & went down an endocrinology rabbithole. 😝
Dr Dray, I watch other dermatology skin care vids, but you are leagues better in your presentation. While I feel like other derm doctor vids talk to us like we are in the clinic, you talk to us like we are also researchers. Your breakdown of skin care and products and almost scientific-journal-article type of reviews are so informative that makes me feel confident in my skin care routine. A million thanks!!
I switched to Lume because the ads caught my attention. The scents are a little off at first but it quickly goes away. This is the first deodorant that actually lasts 48+ hours on me. I’m not ready to try for 72 hours yet. This is also the first “natural” deodorant that isn’t darkening my armpits. It’s an expensive deodorant but I’m hooked.
Girl, same. It’s the only thing that makes my sweat not smell like anything. I still can’t believe the company tells people to put it that far up their business, though! It’s great for skin on skin areas, no need to take it up that far lol.
I just can't get past the smell of lume, I ordered it and my husband says it smells bad too. I researched another product like this called lavillin that I want to try.
@@andreavin3674 Yeah I think I'm just going to use it. Cause it actually helps me not to sweat. I just can't use dove b/c it makes my armpits break out. But I ordered a different deodorant and we will see how that one goes.
I actually really love this product. I'm not happy with some of the fragrance initially but it has a tendancy to dissapate after application. This has really helped me a lot and it doesn't have ingrediants that irritate my skin or that are dangerouse in general. The only problem I have with the product is the price point... expensive indeed.
DR Dray, I am sure I am not the first to say....YOU ROCK! It is sooooo refreshing to have a real medical DR. cut through bull shit that consumers are subjected to 24/365. The consumer is so snowed by expensive products that have chemicals that really are the cause of, more than what they heal and repair. Please keep doing you!!!. LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU
I LOVE Lume Deodorant. I've been using it for about a year. It really, really works! It really does last up to 3 days....it's unreal. The scents don't really matter as it fades quickly after it dries but can smell very strong when applying. I've tried layering with Lume and a classic anti-perspirant so I can get the benefits of both. I only need to do this is summer time. I apply one at night after showering and the other the next morning before heading off to work. Win, win :)
I was extremely skeptical of Lume before I tried it (especially because of their marketing of it as a solution for "odor below the belt" as they refer to it as, which I can't stand) but finally got suckered into buying it a few months ago when desperate to find something that would help with underboob sweat stench. I will never use this product anywhere near my groin area, but as an underarm and underboob deodorant this is genuinely the best product I have ever used. I don't enjoy the fragranced ones and don't recommend them, but the unscented one honestly smells great from just the unaltered smell of the ingredients and it really does work to eliminate odor for as long as it says it does. Still hate the marketing of it but honest to god the deodorant is fantastic.
I used Lume under my boobs and after about a month I started getting a horrible Oder and VERY noticeable discoloration!! It definitely didn’t work for me
@@cindyduhon1343 stop commenting this under everyone who liked the product. No one cares that you didn’t like it. Make your own comment and stop harassing those that do
For private parts I think it’s only for around the area, not directly in the area. Eg. If you sweat in your groin area you can rub some along your bikini line etc. Not directly on your privates.
I think the unscented has more of an earthy smell some people just don’t like but I don’t mind and it fades quite quickly anyways and you’re left with no smell at all
I'm on my 8th tube if Lume! My daughter and I have really smelly pits! We've both tried pretty much any deodorant that we could find. They always fell short on their performance. I can use a pea sized dab of Lume for both underarms and it last's for about 48 hours for me. Cost wise-I'd say it's worth trying if you are struggling with stinky pits!
I'm on my 5th or 6th tube as well. I buy them in a two pack on amazon. Love the stuff. It doesnt smell that great, but the scent goes away rather quickly. I just love it. I dont think I could go without. Lol. They've definitely reeled me in. I'm a sucker 🤣🤟❤
Yup, one year out from you dropping this and it was prefaced with a Lume ad. TV is over run with these ads recently. Thank you for your informed and very balanced review, as they always are!
I LOVE Lume. It doesn’t stop sweat, it stops smell. I do have to apply twice a day to the armpits but it works great. I also use it on my inner inner thighs. I work out everyday and it’s a problem spot for me even straight out of the shower. Its been a lifesaver! The unscented works the best.
@@cindyduhon1343 Girl you have commented this under everyone's comment who liked it. Why??? Just go and make your own comment and leave it at that. Just because it didn't work for you doesn't mean it's going to convince someone not to use it after they already said they liked it.
I have only used LUME in arm pit area and it works better than any other deodorant or antiperspirant I’ve ever used. I usually get irritation from antiperspirants but I’m not getting any irritation from LUME.
It lingered and worsened for me in the groin area. Wrote the company and they sent me a tube of unscented in case it was the fragrance doing it. Nope, it is their base formula.
I’m glad to know I am not the only one who thinks it smells very odd in a bad way. However compared to the smell of my feet I will get over it. That is the only place I use it.
It worked amazingly for me for about five days. Then it started to make me smell 10x worse. They blamed it on me - using the wrong amount, needing to "detox" from conventional deodorant (that I hadn't used in over a decade,) needing to strip all of my laundry even though it was my skin that smelled and had no contact with my clothes. I've learned that I can use it once every few weeks for only a day or two or it will make me stink. And now they have a satisfaction guarantee. 🙄
@@Lady-Carmakazi I've used unscented and a couple the different scents. They have the satisfaction guarantee now, and it seems to work magic for most people. I'd go for it.
I have had the same experience. I smell bad now. Doctorly channel suggests using Benzoyl Peroxide to reset the bacteria in the armpits. Do not recommend.
I've been using Lume on my armpits for about a month now and I love it. It doesn't smell great when you first put it on, but it's not horrible. I can't even smell it after a few minutes. I haven't had any irritation and it keeps odor away.
I just started using Lume the other day, so I’m glad to hear your thoughts on how it works and any potential issues. I was so skeptical it would work, because it seems too good to be true. It’s in the 90’s today, but I actually have no BO lol. I’m fairly impressed so far.
It's really depends on you. It works so great for me. But my sister not so much. I won't ever use anything else. I can go days with applying if I want. But I pit on after shower. So its everyday by routine. But it works!
I’ve always interpreted the “down there” to the groin or where your leg meets your middle lol I never thought they were saying to put this on your privates directly.
They totally were saying that. I can say I've seen these ads like 5000 times and one example is the one where they use a peach as a prop for the butt, they advise you to apply it right in your butt crack lol Or the shower one where she says she does the "soap suds test" which is washing your butt with some soap and then smelling the suds on your hand! Then claiming you need it if said suds smell like butt lol Now obviously it's not meant to be applied internally, but they very much are saying you can apply it to the butt crack/hole and vaginal lips and whatnot. I'm not even going to get going on the ones targeted to vaginal odor... it's just too much lol (Again, never inside! Can be used on the outside)
@@mayflower5193 so you agree...they do instruct to apply to the skin, not inside. Great. Now for the rest of people to understand-you don’t put it “inside”. FFS, it’s for body odor. Period.
Thanks for making this video Dr.!! I suffer from hyperhydrosis and this product has been huge for me. The first year using it, I felt it didn’t work. But I slowly learned that this deodorant is NOT a masking product. It does not work well when applied to dirty or already stinky body areas. It is a preventative product. It must be applied fresh out of the shower for maximum results! It has worked great for me. I can go up to 4 days before I smell anything (tested while camping lol). I’m a huge believer in this product!
I’ve been using it for a month. I LOVE IT!! I still sweat but no pit smell. My daughter is 42, with horrible foot odor. She also LOVES it! I started using it because all of a sudden at the age of 63 I began having a terrible reaction to all anti-perspirants and deodorants.
I live in Puerto Rico where it's hot and humid. Lume works great on my underarms and feet. I don't like the smell of the deodorant but thankfully it doesn't linger. This deodorant works for me. I've seen the ads and from what I understand you're supposed to put it on your inner thighs, not your "privates"
I actually bought lume after seeing a TH-cam add, haha. I absolutely love it! I'm a firefighter, in Florida, so I'm outside in the heat, wearing heavy gear that does Not breathe. Lume is the only product I've found that can last through a 24- hour shift with no stink! The only time I have to reapply (weirdly) is when I'm wearing sleeveless shirts on my off-days.
I’ve used the unscented Lume for about 6 months and I love it. No irritation just solid results. The unscented has an off putting odor when it is first applied but before I can get it rubbed in, the odor is gone and undetectable.
LOL, actually, in my opinion, THEY all have an offputting smell, but, for me, its the first application. The rest of the applications don't stink, but that's from my experience from using it.
Re: private parts, ob/gyn Mama Doctor Jones reviewed this product a few months ago. Also like Dr Dray, she and some other ob/gyns (especially dr. jennifer lincoln) don't tend to favor "feminine wash/deodorant" products. Dr. Lincoln says it's just another scam to get your money. Her channel, mama doctor jones and the madge the v.. playlist at the scary mommy channel have videos on what to use in that area and what not to use.
I had high hopes for Lume. I even bought the enzyme spray for my clothes and “detoxed” my pits for a month, but I still smelled. I do sweat a lot because I work outside, so maybe it was just too much. I tried it for over a month and eventually just threw it away. I now use an aluminum antiperspirant at night like Dr. Drey suggested and it’s been so much better for me and my lifestyle.
I could have sworn those aluminum deodorants are bad for you ? Eating certain foods can cause a person to have strong body odors and maybe you could try eliminating one for a couple weeks to see if you notice a difference and just try by a process of elimination and maybe only do it in cooler weather or not as often ?
@@Belovelyavawhen you say the one from Walmart that says ivory are you talking about Ivory soap ? If so that's a very old soap and has been around for many decades and it's just pure soap and very inexpensive and you're fortunate that it worked . I don't have a do problem but I've been reading all these comments .
I loved this deodorant when it first came out. It does what it says. Very lotiony and non irritating, and really does eliminate odor EVERYWHERE, and did not at all require daily usagr. The fragrance was very minimal and disappears immediately, really doesn't mask odor. However, they changed the formula and now all scents and even unscented smells like vomit. I emailed the company about this, and they eliminated ingredients that are perceived as "bad" but as you have discussed really aren't as harmless as the clean beauty movement suggests. The foul smell does dissipate immediately, tho. Still, disappointing that clean beauty has ruined a great product.
Same thing happened to Cerave. They reformulated due to the "wahhh parabensss!!" crowd, and now many people are having bad reactions to products they used to love. It's unfortunate, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and the rabid "clean beauty" people are very squeaky.
Agree! I didn't try lime before when it first came out but the one I bought smells TERRIBLE. like something rotten. it does go away after a while but I have to hold my breath when applying
I didn't have room for a bidet, so what I installed was a "bum hose" that runs off the water supply of the toilet before it goes into the bowl. Took me about 15 minutes to install, cost under $50. Once you try a bidet there or bum hose you never want to go back to TP, it's the only way to stay truly clean. 🌱
I love using Lume! I only use it on my underarms/under breasts. Zero irritation for me in the last 3 months that I've been using it, and it really does keep the body odor away for days! There is an off smell when you sniff the product itself, but once you apply it to the skin the scent is very subtle and pleasant. My favorite scents are Jasmine Rose, Warm Vanilla, and Coconut Crush💖
When I was younger my mom was into douching and she had me do it also. From 9 to 12yrs old I was battling bladder and kidney infection and a host of other problems. Never again will I put something down there that is not supposed to go there.
I didn't see a Lume ad on this video, but I've seen it plenty elsewhere! I find them very entertaining. I've tried Lume and don't think I can go back because it works amazing on me, but I'm reading in the comments below about washing armpits with a benzoyl peroxide bar, so I am going to try that too.
@@antoniadavis3387 Yes, you can find them anywhere! Benzoyl peroxide is another common ingredient people use to treat acne. I will say though that I've been using a salicylic acid face wash instead on the pits and have found it to be decently effective for me.
@@antoniadavis3387 try face washes or "ointment" creams with salicylic acid too!! You can find them at the dollar tree (unless Dr. Dray says no, hehe).
I love Lune and it makes a huge difference to me. I use the unscented tube and a dab goes a long way. I do have to rinse my hands afterwards before starting my face routine because it can irritate my super sensitive face, but that’s easy. I swear by Lume. Powders flair up my tinea versicolor due to the corn starch.
I use Lume, and I love it! My privates (at the juncture of my thighs and my crotch) sweat during sleep, which makes me adverse to morning “intimacy” with my husband because of the unpleasant smell. However, Lume has solved the unpleasant smell issue for me, and so I’m not adverse to morning intimacy anymore!
I love Lume. I do not put it inside any parts. Just the outside skin. On the feet, under breast’s, even in the outer rim of my belly button. 😄 I don’t use it on my underarms. I use a regular antiperspirant there. But I haven’t tried it there either. It’s important to note that Lume should be applied to clean dry skin and don’t glob it on. Just a very thin layer is all that’s needed.
I was "influenced," or " suckered in" to trying LUME. Let me tell you....after your video, it makes sense. I received a horrible, painful, blood red rash at my private part area. I bought it mainly for "down there" moisture and musty-like smell (which was simply sweat from being on the move, etc). After a few uses, the rash appeared. It was a painful two to three weeks before I healed. I never went back to it and had never had that rash again. Lesson learned.
That sounds like a horrible experience. I was thinking about trying some for my private area because it gets exhausting tending to it, especially urinating several times a day while at work. So it gets funky down there on a regular and I use unscented wipes until I'm back home to shower. I thought that Lume might cut out the need for the wipes but hearing your experience has changed my mind. I get rashes pretty easily from just using products that have ingredients I'm not aware of that I'm allergic to. So I definitely don't want to take a chance with this. Thanks for sharing!
No, I did not see a Lume ad anywhere during this video. Yes, I use and love Lume as an underarm deodorant. It is the first antiperspirant or deodorant that has worked for me long-term. I did see your video recommending benzoyl peroxide, but I am severely allergic to it. I've had no issue with irritation using Lume.
Lol, no! I got an ad for the hair restorative mask for your head featuring YOU! I was like, "oh I didn't realize we were going to talk about hair loss in a deodorant video". The AD even started with your infamous "well hey, guys!" and so did this video, lol.
I've been using Lume for about six months and it's amazing! I work in healthcare and can spend hours in COVID isolation gear, which leaves you drenched in sweat. I have literally gone 3 days of 12 hour shifts without reapplying Lume and no odor. For work I use unscented, days off I like Silver Spruce. I am large breasted and tend to sweat alot in the groin area. Lume has been a lot of help in those areas, for my groin I use unscented only. I have sensitive skin, never have had a problem.
I would be careful buying off of Amazon sometimes the items are fake. Alot of people who bought off Amazon said the product was brown and the one on the lume website is white
This is so weird…. I was in the shower this morning and thought to myself “dr. Dray should do a video on Lume” and then an hour later I open TH-cam and this pops up!
I started using Lume a few weeks ago just for pits, i have been wanting to get read of the aluminum ingredient. Fearful it would fail as many others but nah! This product rocks and i am under 80 to 100 F degree weather.
I ended up getting heat rash and a bad case of dermatitis from Lume. The $11 deo cost more after a doctor visit and prescription. My secret clinical unscented has never done me wrong so 😬
Exactly! I’m pretty sure I have a sweating problem and my Secret Clinical Strength has never done me wrong either! Pair it with the Cerave Benzoyl peroxide and it’s the perfect dream team!
I haven’t had any issue with it and works better than secret clinical. You have to try things to see how it works for you. Unfortunately it didn’t go well for some people
@@fearlesslife5109 Yes as a wash off treatment. It prevents odor and it works great, at least for me. And I think the panoxyl one has 10% but my Cerave cream cleanser has 4%
I've used this the last couple years. It works amazing for my underarms. No smell whatsoever even with lots of sweating. I love it. That being said, I don't think I'd put it anywhere except my underarms. My sister uses it as well. The way she sold me on it was having me (very reluctantly) sniff her armpits after a long outside birthday party in July. I was shocked there was no smell and gave it a try as well. Edit to add: I only use the unscented. The scented ones smell atrocious. Just FYI
I actually enjoy the Lume products, and I found two scents that work for me. It is very important to coat all over under the arm. I also appreciate that the odor (for me) is almost immediately neutralized. I had no reaction as a person with very sensitive skin. I think it depends on what works for you.
I really love it. I've turned many friends onto it and I'm not a natural deodorant person. I don't use it in the privates, per se, but more where my legs meet the groin (essentially where your underwear seams are), I also use it under my breasts and on my very active son's feet. After a basketball tournament, the ride home in the car was disgusting as everyone could smell his feet. So, the next time he had 4 games in a row, I put Lume on the bottoms of his feet and I kid you not... no smell when he took off his shoes. So, I definitely think this product has its place.
I doubt fragrances in the private area of most females would be safe or good. Same with baby wipes, panty liners, tampons, etc… rash and, or infection city.
I bought Lume because I was done with aluminum deodorants. After trying some aluminum free deodorants (native, etc) I tried Lume and omg. This stuff lasts for 2-3 days!! I don’t sweat but start to stink after 5/6 hours without the deodorant. The only con to me is the smell of Lume. I tried a few scents but all of them are too “earthy”. Anyways, I’m sold for life!
I tried it, and yes, it works! i put it under my arms last week, and when I went to shower, I didn't wash that area for 3 days. I truly had no odor for those 3 days, so I left it on just to see how long it really lasts. I would say that I didn't start to smell any hint of odor until day 5, so it really was a 5-day, no-smell week. NICE!! I recommend it to my family. My next test is to try it in the private parts. I also break out easily from changing deodorants, but this didn't break me out.
I bought the Lavender Lume months ago for my feet, but the smell of the stuff... I was a mortician and it took me right back to the smell of a draining cyst. There's the initial whiff of lavender, but the other scent comes in HARD afterward. For those not in the medical field, it's similar to a dirty piercing smell. Having a hard time buying the idea that "that scent goes away" after use. I'd rather have vinegar feet than to smell like I walked through a puddle of pus.
Dirty piercing .. fair.. I smell boogers or whatever when I need to take out my nose ring to clean and that is what I think LUME smells like. It’s gross. I wanted so bad to like it. I’m bummed.
Updating: per recommendation of others that the smell "goes away", I swatched it on my wrist. IT. DOES. NOT. It took 3 rounds of significant scrubbing at the sink to get that foul stank off. Never again.
PSA for people buying Lume from Amazon: Reviews with customer images show a difference in product quality and color between Amazon and the Lume site. Some people show that the Amazon Lume product is a light brown color and the one from the Lume site is white, also claiming they smell different. They provided images and I just wanted to pass the info along. I have not tried, but have been looking due to the massive influx in funny commercials. "You have enough douche bags in your life Cheryl." I do not plan to buy, but was hoping this would help someone to avoid Amazon if you wish to try Lume (even after Dr. Dray's review). Have a wonderful and blessed day! ❤
It would be my last resort to buy anything from Amazon that I’m going to put on my skin. I have received many blatantly counterfeit products and some that are just mildly suspect. It’s understandable that TH-camrs link to Amazon for people living outside of the US, though.
@@AllyKit It’s not just counterfeit products (which look like the real thing) but products that are defective and old that were meant to be destroyed, yet resold. Amazon is like mine field ugh.
I have used Lume and I actually do like it. I purchased the unscented version, and one tube has lasted me such a long time I don't find it to be overpriced. That being said, I am not a very sweaty person by nature and I have not experienced any issues with body odor, just the normal amount I suppose.
The warm vanilla scent is the bomb. It’s not overpowering, doesn’t clash with my perfume, and it simply works. I use it for pits, under my breasts, and my crotch, not my vulva, but the leg crease. Love this stuff and scrimp on other things so I can have it. I alternate between Native vanilla sandalwood (Walgreens scent) every other use but if it’s church or something special, I don’t use anything but my Lume.
I can't speak for it's efficacy in the armpits for groin, but Lume the only product I have used that completely eliminates my foot odor. I have been suffering with it since high school and have tried EVERYTHING...Lume has been a godsend for me.
I really want to love Lume… I got the unscented but it smells so foul… The scent stays until I wash it off/wash my clothes. It never goes away otherwise... It smells worse than my body odor :/ I’m trying to use it all up, give it a full chance, and make sure I’m not using incorrectly and trying different things… but if it’s so potent to me, I can’t imagine how I smell to others.

I am sweaty and smelly and I freaking LOVE Lume. I have been using it for nearly a year. I actually use antiperspirant and Lume. I put the unscented antiperspirant on, let it dry and then layer on the lume. It works like a charm.
Thank you for this review!! I tried Lume out for the first time this summer and it is a game changer! I literally smell like nothing. Even antiperspirants didn’t work this well for me.
Lume works for sure, my family and I really like it. BUT the only scents worth your time are Lavender Sage and Silver Spruce. Like seriously, the others just aren’t good.
I’ve used the unscented one. It works really well in terms of fighting body odor but I noticed my armpits were darkening so I stopped using it as often. It also isn’t anti perspirant at all. I still use it during occasions where I absolutely do not want to risk smelling like sweat at all, but stick to anti perspirant otherwise.
Thanks for breaking it down, been getting bombarded with these ads. I was curious about the little girl who has to take a prescription rx that supposedly makes her smell really bad and Lume solved the problem.
I appreciate this review very much. I have placed an order but, they Lume is behind in shipping and they are over two weeks delayed so far. But when I do receive it, I will be returning it immediately.
@@SPARKSHAGG I should have clarified! It doesn't help my eczema, per se, the cerave benzoyl peroxide is, in my opinion, a well formulated product with an ingredient that is usually irritating, and therefore okay to (very slowly) start incorporating! In a GRWM Dr Dray suggested trying it as a "stinky part" focused body wash, and I have to say i love it! The skinfix spray IS an eczema product though, check dr dray's video on it! Good luck addressin that though! luckily my eczema on my ears is only behind them and in the underside of my earlobes but it's still annoying as all hell! Only thing that helped for me is reapplying a very moisturising spf every 2 hours, and getting my retinoid to my ear skin as well (i just personally find my skin loves retinoids though so don't go taking this as advice!)
I have used Lume for a couple of years and really like it. You do have to prepare your clothing (ie. they recommended Nature’s Miracle) and I found that the clothing prep really helped increase the effectiveness of Lume.
“Preparing your clothing”, in my case, meant spraying the armpits of my shirts with an enzymatic fabric cleaner like Nature’s Miracle or Zout. It helps rid your clothing of the odor causing bacteria that can still hang out on your clothes even after you wash them. I ended up having to just throw away a few shirts, though. Since I’ve been using Lume (for 2 years now) and I regularly treat all my shirts now. I don’t have any odor left over in my shirts now. Lume is also great for me because the skin of my underarms is very sensitive and every other deodorant I’ve ever used has eventually caused severe, itching flaming red rashes. Lume has been fantastic for me.
MY experience: I've been using it for years. It stops working after constant use. MOST days I can last 16 hours. Some days I have to reapply during my work day (by that time the order is in my clothes 😔). I work in a VERY cold building (even in colder months). I still perspire due to work demands. When 1 fragrance stops working, i have switched to another. I know it's the same formula, I do this out of desperation. I have 5 different fragrances. (I am SO thankful the awful fragrance dissipates). I wonder if they changed the formula when they changed the component's tube top 🤔. As I write, I don't recall break through odor when using my first two tubes with the original tube tops. Other natural deodorants cause me to develop a horrible rash. I believe it's the baking soda. I have used Schmidt and others. I didn't want to try Native (has baking soda) because it's expensive and I've wasted more than enough money on the search up until Lume. Moral of this post, I will continue to use the tubes I have.
I love Lume deodorant! I have always used "clinical" anti-perspirants and was becoming concerned about the high aluminum content. I was very skeptical about finding a natural deodorant that would actually work. I use it in my underarms, under my breasts and in the groin area and it works! I have also started using the soap. Love it, too!
This is the best deodorant I've ever used. I will not wear an antiperspirant so I do tend sweat. With regular natural deodorant I would usually be okay for maybe a couple of hours but this stuff lasts all day. And I take a stimulant medication that makes me sweat more than usual. I don't even care how much more it costs because it's worth it to me.
My biggest beef with Lume is the price. I feel like we're paying $2 for the product cost, $4 for their profits and $14 for their giant advertising budget.
I don't know that ads on you tube e are expensive. Maybe I am put of touch. It is a high price.
I ended up paying $60 for two tubes. Ridiculous pricing as I had to pay shipping fees… and + it lasted like 3 hours max.
I could not agree more.
It was crazy expensive plus shipping and didn't work for my son or i......
I know right. I’m on a budget so I have to save anywhere I can.
Amen. Best ever used and I’ve tried them all
That’s right!!! Not smell at all ! For me is magic!
Lume is the only deodorant that has truly worked for my massively stinky feet. Use it 3x a week and I love it ❤️
Same, friend, same. I too am a nurse and everything you just said is the absolute truth 😂❤

Yeah, same! As a deodorant (not antiperspirant), it's amazing!
Love it. Best ever.
100% works to eliminate odor. And CertainDri roll-on do reduce sweat production. And when you are almost done with the tube, just add water, shake well, put in a spray bottle and use as a shoe deodorant.
Agreed, I love it. The odor of the product doesn't linger on me at all.
I’ve had the same experience!!! I’m so glad it worked for you too!! It truly has enhanced my life
I've been using lume for over a month now and I am blown away at how well this works for me personally.
@Naye1iGamer XD luckily I can manage smell with Secret. I would love to find a natural deodorant that would work on its own.
I absolutely love this product. I am not a “natural deodorant” person. I tried it because of the claim that it can be used in the groin area. If you know what I’m talking about, you know. Not vaginal. My parts are healthy. My sister and cousin are also loving it. It doesn’t need to be used everyday.
I am a fan of the product as a deodorant only under my arms. I don’t use it elsewhere.

I use lumē unscented and I love it! I still have a little wetness, but absolutely no smells. The formula has a very strange smell to it when you first apply, but that doesn’t stick around. I highly recommend for the pits, haven’t tried it anywhere else.
Deodorants like Lume do NOTHING to prevent perspiration.

I forgot to say my Ob/gyn suggested a very expensive wash... That worked until it stopped working.
Thankfully my hot flashes are getting fewer & farther between now, lolol
Going in w/ just water is so important for vaginal health.
My doctors have always said wash that area with only water.
Dr Dray, I watch other dermatology skin care vids, but you are leagues better in your presentation.

I LOVE Lume Deodorant. I've been using it for about a year. It really, really works! It really does last up to 3 days....it's unreal.

It's amazing how scent is so different for people. To me unscented Lume smells like a dirty butt.
I think the unscented has more of an earthy smell some people just don’t like but I don’t mind and it fades quite quickly anyways and you’re left with no smell at all

The odor does linger under the boobs. It’s horrible. Lume also caused a terrible discoloration.
It sure as H.E.double toothpicks lingers on me. Granted, I don't get BO, but I feel like I stink to begin with.
I appreciate your candor. Their commercials on YT are hilarious, so I'll give them that.
Same here!!

I just started using Lume the other day, so I’m glad to hear your thoughts on how it works and any potential issues. I was so skeptical it would work, because it seems too good to be true. It’s in the 90’s today, but I actually have no BO lol. I’m fairly impressed so far.
Bombarded with their ads!! Been waiting for an honest review! This was SO helpful!
Same. Part of their marketing is not to put things “in there”. Not sure how people got confused by that.
Exactly. If the sweat can get trapped, you bet there is odor. And not all of us sweat the same.
Then claiming you need it if said suds smell like butt lol
Now obviously it's not meant to be applied internally, but they very much are saying you can apply it to the butt crack/hole and vaginal lips and whatnot. I'm not even going to get going on the ones targeted to vaginal odor... it's just too much lol
(Again, never inside!

I clicked on this so fast just because I’ve gotten so many ads in last week for this brand. They must have a huge marketing budget.
Same. It was so frustrating that I took a TH-cam holiday for a few days.
Since a year ago or more the avalanche of adds started, I was going to get it but the reviews about the bad smell of the product kept me away.
Lumi is amazing. It only takes a pea size amount. I am so glad I tried it.

@@noneofbusiness7739 Clean Sense. Got it on Amazon. It's been awesome.
It doesn't make a mess of your bathroom? I have a mental image of a spritz mess
I’m deaf and I sure wish you had close caption on this video❤️Dr Dray
Lume ×works. Sorry she doesn't have captions.
When I was younger my mom was into douching and she had me do it also. From 9 to 12yrs old I was battling bladder and kidney infection and a host of other problems. Never again will I put something down there that is not supposed to go there.
I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hope you weren't left with lasting issues 💔
I’ve been using Luke for two years. It works great anywhere on your body. Can’t live without it.
thanks for sharing
I didn't see a Lume ad on this video, but I've seen it plenty elsewhere! I find them very entertaining. I've tried Lume and don't think I can go back because it works amazing on me, but I'm reading in the comments below about washing armpits with a benzoyl peroxide bar, so I am going to try that too.
Benzoyl peroxide bar? I have nkt read that comment. Is this something you find in the supermarket?
@@antoniadavis3387 Yes, you can find them anywhere! Benzoyl peroxide is another common ingredient people use to treat acne. I will say though that I've been using a salicylic acid face wash instead on the pits and have found it to be decently effective for me.
@@savvyfavy5805 Thank you so much, I love Lume too a little expensive but works awesome. I will try the benzoyl peroxide ❤
@@antoniadavis3387 try face washes or "ointment" creams with salicylic acid too!! You can find them at the dollar tree (unless Dr. Dray says no, hehe).
@@savvyfavy5805 Thank you I will!
Maybe just a tad to much info ? Could have just said some of that but not all of it ?
@@gardensofthegodsyou're watching a "pits and privates" deodorant review, so this comment was appropriate. Grow up
I just bought this and so far I am very IMPRESSED! I really like it!
I love Lume. I do not put it inside any parts. Just the outside skin. On the feet, under breast’s, even in the outer rim of my belly button. 😄
I don’t use it on my underarms. I use a regular antiperspirant there. But I haven’t tried it there either. It’s important to note that Lume should be applied to clean dry skin and don’t glob it on. Just a very thin layer is all that’s needed.
I'm an RN and continually have to tell friends and patients, "Your vagina auto cleanses. Stop sticking things in there!"
OB RN here and I say the same thing all the time!
Oh Lord....im dying with laughter! The next Gay Pride parade in WDC I'm making a banner reading that advice!
this stuff does not go inside the vagina...read the instructions
I don’t put “things” in there except tampons, but I do clean semi inside with fragrance free soap. I never believed in auto cleansing.
This product does not go in the vagina
i get really bad cysts and ingrown hairs in the genital area (shaving or not) and your recommendation for benzoyl peroxide literally changed my life
Do you mind linking me the video dr dray speaks about this/explanation to me how benzoyl peroxide works
I had the same reaction
@@marymartin-capouya2524 Glad I'm not the only one! Thanks for sharing.
Vagisil powder or summers eve talc free powders sprinkled in the clothes help a ton.
Same thing happened to me under my arms! This stuff set my pits on fire! I could barely keep my arms down!
I have this and Love it ! Yes it does work! No gimmick here and you only have to use a little bit!
Was hoping you would review this!! ❤️👏🏼👏🏼
thanks for watching
Lol, no! I got an ad for the hair restorative mask for your head featuring YOU! I was like, "oh I didn't realize we were going to talk about hair loss in a deodorant video". The AD even started with your infamous "well hey, guys!" and so did this video, lol.
That’s the one I got, too.
Same.
Me too!
Im obsessed with Lume I thought it was a gimmick then I finally tried it. I won’t ever switch! It’s soooo good!!
I have Lumme in my Amazon cart but it’s 20 bucks so I was on the fence. Glad you made this video.
If you order from the Lume website they have specials and packages.
thanks for watching
@@jennifermorrison229 is that a regular or normal price for it?
I would be careful buying off of Amazon sometimes the items are fake. Alot of people who bought off Amazon said the product was brown and the one on the lume website is white
On Lume website one stick deodorant is about $15. You can get a two pack for around $23. If you subscribe for auto delivery it’s cheaper yet.
Dying to the "tea" on this product. Really tired of getting commercials for it haha I'm a penoxyl fan. Game changer.

I'm assuming u mean PanOxyl for ACNE....but what's that mean it realation to LUME (which is a body deodorant)????
@@YummyGummy77 Dr Dray has got me using it under my armpits to combat body odor. Yes, the peroxide acne face wash.
This is so weird…. I was in the shower this morning and thought to myself “dr. Dray should do a video on Lume” and then an hour later I open TH-cam and this pops up!
I just bought mine a few days ago. I'm so glad to see you do this video.
@@izziestevens5835 do you put Benzoyl Peroxide on your armpits?
Same! I tried lume on my privates and ended up at the PCP getting tested for a UTI. Never again!
Just FYI
thanks for sharing
I tried the unscented version. I very much like it.
I actually enjoy the Lume products, and I found two scents that work for me. It is very important to coat all over under the arm. I also appreciate that the odor (for me) is almost immediately neutralized. I had no reaction as a person with very sensitive skin. I think it depends on what works for you.
Which scents were your favorite?
I really love it. I've turned many friends onto it and I'm not a natural deodorant person. I don't use it in the privates, per se, but more where my legs meet the groin (essentially where your underwear seams are), I also use it under my breasts and on my very active son's feet. After a basketball tournament, the ride home in the car was disgusting as everyone could smell his feet. So, the next time he had 4 games in a row, I put Lume on the bottoms of his feet and I kid you not... no smell when he took off his shoes. So, I definitely think this product has its place.
Lume actually does work, doesn't leave the wet feeling that most natural deodorants do when you sweat, and no BO odor- Native also works too!
Deodorant in the private area?! I’d be too afraid of irritation 🙈
i dont recommend
I tried it and yes, DON’T DO IT lol 😩
I doubt fragrances in the private area of most females would be safe or good.
Same with baby wipes, panty liners, tampons, etc… rash and, or infection city.
Ma’am don’t do it I tried it and it broke me out
Your better off with the Ivory unscented. It's fragrance free. I been using it for a year and so far I really like it.
When i got the Lume no matter which fragrance we smelled it smelled like a sweaty butt. Not a huge fan
I also thought the smell was kinda gross but I tried it anyway. I didn’t notice it while wearing but the product doesn’t last as long as it claims.
You got it. Perfect description better than my very unsophisticated way of saying "booty cheese" that dissipates after about 2 seconds.
Amazon is like mine field ugh.
if it's brown, it's old, send it back.
I believe it is old product as I have bought from the Lumes site and it has turned a strange tan color that smells bad!

On that note, I’d love to get your thoughts on underarm Botox or Miradry for hyperhidrosis Dr. Dray!
I had underarm botox. Worked like a charm for about 18 months.
Botox works wonders!! And it’s not painful like I thought it would be.
Miradry was the best decision I've ever made.
Same...I sent it back it made me smell so bad. I had to wash it off right away!
Smells like the worst smelling cheese
I love the twisted lime scent. I also use their soap and really like it.
Smelled like a wet dirty hamster I had to wash it off and went back to my Dove deodorant.
I agree!!
I put this under my breast and now am having a reaction to it. It was the only thing i changed and that was after one use. I have a dermatolgy appt tomorrow because the rash is that bad.

Is sad lumi discontinue Jupiter crisp that was my favorite
The unscented Lume smells like butt funk to me, and the vanilla wasn't much better, vanilla with butt funk undertones.

I always go for the fresh woody scents. I still smell that off note but it isn't as bad
CeraVe benzoyl peroxide and skinfix are my go tos for eczema body odour reduction and they are life changers! thank you for those cheap tips!
Is that for anywhere on the body? I have eczema inside both ears 😰 nothing works for me, I've had this off and on for about 30 years😣
@@SPARKSHAGG I should have clarified!
Hi, I was just wondering what “prepare your clothing” means? Thanks!
There is a sensitive skin Native that does not have baking soda. You can even get them with scent or without.
I absolutely love it! Yes expensive but lasts so much longer than other stuff I was buying (3 diff items) to prevent odor
I've been using Lume for a couple of months and I love it.
benzoyl peroxide topical products, at least in my experience, are great for use in the armpits, to prevent odor.
Do you use a BP wash or a leave-on product?
I have used lume and liked it. I don’t like the scents though.
They have an Unscented Lume in their deodorant and soap.
They smell so so bad omg
I think the chemicals in lume smell bad to begin with. It works ok, but I personally don't want to smell like that. Yuk
Totally! It feels very counterproductive haha.
The scent is awful.
No I did not get a lume ad before your video. We use lume and really like it.
