    Go to my main channel, I just added a new video. It’s me reading the comic book that I wrote/drew for my son when he had his ileostomy.

    I wish I had found this video sooner. I bought a commercial bag cover on line only to discover that dimensions were totally unsuitable for my concave ostomy bag; mainly hole set too low and also most bags are for maxi size. After checking I found this to be a problem with most bags sold online. My fix was to deconstruct the bag I bought and make my own pattern, moving the hole and changing the dimensions. It worked eventually and I made a pretty passable bag but, oh boy, was it stressful. It took me ages to work out I had to stitch the hole first and which sides (patterned material) faced which way for stitching etc. Your video would have made life so much more simple.

    Thank you for your pattern and videos. I used it to customize a pattern to fit the SenSura Mio bag. My pattern turned out to be almost identical to yours. Mine is just a little wider, with extra room on the sides. Your pattern might actually fit the SenSura Mio bag too.

    Thanks so much for this. I have a friend who just had a huge amount of bowel removed and has to have 2 ostomy bags. I wanted to do something nice for her.

    Thanks so much for this pattern. I have been wondering how to make the circle look decent without sewing with binding. Thanks!

      Kay Marl scroll down past part 2 and you should see it. Or search in TH-cam for my name. I’m not sure how to describe how to use TH-cam to you. Sorry.

    will the cover just drape over the plastic piece or should I run some elastic around the hole opening.? this is for my son (39) who was diagnosed last fall and just went thru the surgery. His will not be a reversible thing so I need to get good at these. he wanted to make sure that at work his 'bag' would not hang down below his shirt. I'm guessing the bag sits in the pouch at the bottom?

    • @BeatriceLilli
      @BeatriceLilli  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      S Sergeant if you watch all the videos you will see how the bag fits. It look just like the pouch but made of fabric. Just make one and see if he likes it. The covers don’t fall off the pouch, you dont need elastic

      @@BeatriceLilli thanks. I just bought some fabric today. standard cotton for the outside but supima for the part that will be against his skin. I plan to make several over the weekend.

    • @BeatriceLilli
      @BeatriceLilli  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      S Sergeant don’t over think it, just make one and see if he likes it. The fabric doesn’t really touch your skin since the bag is generally worn over your undies and his blue jeans are no less rough than standard cotton. 😊

      @@BeatriceLilli it seems his is worn a little higher, but good advice. I tend to overthink everything........I'll start with one and make sure it fits. he left one of his bags here for me to use as a template. He lives 2 hours away. I just wanted it to be soft. It's a 'Mom" thing.

    I had trouble finding the pattern, but the friend I'm making these for was ahead of me. I thought I would post the URL for those who (like me) are having trouble finding the actual pattern. The pattern is excellent as well as the video! THANK YOU! sites.google.com/site/diyostomycoverpatterns/home/pattern

      Beatrice Ruberto you are costing money for those companies that have made them for years. There is a Medicare Fee HCPC code to pay for them. For every free one you show you take away a meal for those who work hard on their line pluse you are infringing on licensing material. Also you are libial if someone has a skin breakdown from your products

      @@Georga44 I was rather curious about your motivation for makings these comments. Don't you think you are going a little over the top on this. What you say may be so in the US (I do wonder how true this is though) but in the UK I have a far different experience. I have found most bag covers bought online/commercially are very poor quality, shoddily made and the suitability of some of the materials used, questionable. There are very few exceptions. You may be interested to know that I cannot actually buy a cover to fit my particular type of pouch (concave) so have resorted to making my own. If I can't find a cover that actually fits my bag or even one I like, at any price, I see no harm in making my own. Why should I put up with something inferior or not quite suitable. If someone can provide a pattern that I can adapt, even better. I don't feel I am infringing on anyone's licence. I am making an item unique to me and I am not trying to sell it to anyone. Also is Beatrice selling bag covers? I got the impression she wasn't, she is just asking for a donation for a pattern download. How is she liable for the materials other people choose to use. It is up to the individual to use quality materials. I personally would only use pure cotton.

      Jacqueline S. Shirtliff Thats exactly why I posted my pattern- it was so difficult to figure out how to make the covers work, and I wanted others without sewing skills to be able to make their own covers easily. Thanks for posting
