@@2_Wheel_Research At first that was a complete accident and the music just happened to be nearly perfectly lined up. From there I tweaked it so it would be ;)
WOW, back flip with so a small jump. wow. Love your videos. All so relaxed and insane. :-) You and Matt Jones from UK are my favorite and crazyist MTB on YT. Go on Phil. Greetings from Germany.
I get so intimidated riding a dj spot alone. I still ride it, but I definitely hold back. Having other people there definitely leads to my confidence. You're a beast Phil.
I was thinking the same thing⚠⚠⚠. Its good to have a buddy there to scrape you up with a spatula when you crash💥 and burn!🔥 Not that Phil needs it. He just shrugs 🤷♂️ it off like no big deal.
These dirt jumps are relatively small and safe. I definitely get more hyped to do things with other people around but having a camera kind of has that affect
Skills With Phil probably .. but don’t hurt yourself for a video .. Dan was obviously comfortable with his back garden jumps but ... anyway could have said I nearly messed a step up this weekend due to the wind but I don’t have anything like the skills of either of you (or Gee)
There's a method to crashing that's learned overtime. I took Gymnastics until I was 11 and had a trampoline growing up as well so it helped me know where I'm at in the air. It's saved me quite a bit.
Video edit was PRIMO, shovel taps, music selection at tense moments with great buildup !! Also, shout out to GT, I now own that same hat and some other swag cause I contacted them thanking them for supporting such a great rider that is all about bringing the MTB community together. Keep on sending it carnal, see you in June at NEMBA Fest !!
Hey Phil, I'm having a tough time hitting steep lips on my mtb. On a BMX, it's not a problem, but on an mtb, it feels a little too steep, like it wants to throw me straight up. What tips do you have for hitting steep lips on a mtb? Which part of the lip should I weight / press into more? Thanks bud.
Great video... I really like videos that show the build of the jump and then the session of it. I really liked the timing of the shovel hitting with the music. I might start using that on my channel videos.
Very nice edit Phil 😍 The intro was pulling me into the story that's was about to unravel. Awesome timing with the music and shovel! Btw it's really inspiring to see a pro getting psyched up to try something new even though it's scary and being able to relate to that process!
There's a lot of basic things I'm still learning. I spent the whole week after this video learning one footed table tops, in BMX that's not considered a hard trick but I never knew how to do it until recently.
I like how creative you got with the music and putting voice-over over the clips you were describing. It seems like you had fun making this one, good video!
Awesome. Great to see! I live in Killington, still way too much snow to ride around here. Looks like we'll be snowblowing the bike park again. Hope you can make a visit this summer.
Love the edits and vids Phil! Also the Cameo in Seth and Blake's escape in Sea Otter was hilarious! Just one thing for the wind...maybe throw a few flags on the trees leading up to the jump (just a thought). Keep shredding!
It’s the little things that make this video amazing! Like the editing is awesome. The pats of the shovel are on beat with the music. Really cool! Keep it up.
As of late fall! There was a good crew of people out this weekend, I was there on Saturday. I helped build a new medium double next to the large set for some of the local shredders.
@@SkillsWithPhil I was hanging with a 11yr who was hitting that middle line last year. My jam is the easy set and the low set next to the big jumps. That is the first gap jump. Working on smoothness and catching air. Did you know Saxon has a newish downhill trails?
I know editing makes everyone look a little better on a bike, but i still enjoy seeing you make human mistakes. “Falls with Phil” probably wouldn’t be a great channel, but i appreciate you leaving stuff like that in the edit periodically 👍🏻
The music was on point. Like @Singletracksampler said the shovels worked great. My favorite was how you built suspense going into the backflip. Well done!
I also have a GT DJ bike! its my only bike, but its awesome and super fun. its the GT Ruckus DJ. Just suuuuuper fun. I love DJ'ing! (im not good at it but still)
A lot of people are asking about what Bike I'm riding. I talked about it in this video right here 🙂

Oh man the perfect music timing at 1:34 is sooooo satisfying!
It was luck of the draw when I first brought in the music. The first few shovels lined up perfectly I couldn't not continue!
I was thinking the same thing!
@@SkillsWithPhil that had to have taken hours to edit those in sync
That was great 👍🏻
Just noticed that after Alex pointed in out, very satisfying
Great edit. Truly appreciate the tempo lining up with the dirt packing.
That video transition at 9:38 was pretty slick. I had to rewind and watch again
Ben Gentile agreed.
That was some slick editing bud.
I value your time :)
Agreed, Loved the shovel tap tempo! very creative.

Skills With Phil ... isn’t that what Gee Atherton said before he broke his neck? Just sayin !
Dan Atherton I think, and there's a good chance but those jumps were much much bigger.
Skills With Phil probably .. but don’t hurt yourself for a video .. Dan was obviously comfortable with his back garden jumps but ... anyway could have said I nearly messed a step up this weekend due to the wind but I don’t have anything like the skills of either of you (or Gee)
Phil having a crash: Let me do that again.
Me having a crash: MEEEEDIIIIIC!
There's a method to crashing that's learned overtime. I took Gymnastics until I was 11 and had a trampoline growing up as well so it helped me know where I'm at in the air. It's saved me quite a bit.
The front wheel was like, NOPE!
I’ve been watching you vids for two years and haven’t stop being inspired to go play bike thanks for the fun times keep it going love you work
I go to that place in Essex all the time, glad to see other people taking care of it 👍🏼
hell yeah maple street
I love how you synced everything up with the music! My drummer OCD was very pleased!
I work about a 1/4 mile Up the train tracks to the East from there and frequently ride that park at lunch time. Thanks for tuning up the jumps.
Dang Phil! Out there trying new things in 🌪🌪tornado🌪🌪 force winds💨💨🍁🍂🍁 I loved you syncing the beat to the shovel 🥁⚒🥁⚒
Haha, the wind nearly blew me off the jump a few times. It's amazing how much it can move you around in the air!
Setting the tamping to the music was a great touch 👍🏻
The vedios are improving day by day! Keep up the good work💪

This is honest filming! Every MTB-biker should recognize the building of confidence on a jump.
Phil you did a great job of setting the tempo of the song by packing the jump.👌
I just love the wackiness of Phil’s video’s, they are just...AMAZING!!!
By the way, if you don't have a trail bike, why do you have that bike as your profile picture?
Oh I just like pictures of bikes and this Scott looks a lot cooler than my hardtail
@@maxMax-ns9pg Oh ok. I get it, but a lot of people will think that's your bike just so you know
Yeah
One moment Tomi

Yo Phil! I’m glad you didn’t get hurt on that flip being out there by yourself! Awesome stuff regardless.

Great job Phil, jump repair techniques, battle with mother nature, how to overcome a failed back flip, awesome vid!

You did a awesome job making the beat go with your clips.
Yeeeewooo!! I'd break my neck on half the size of this stuff 😆😆😆
Good video phil..keep em comin my dude..youre crazy for doing a flip on a widy ass day
Great video again. "Leave things better than you found it" always the way to be. Your awesome man.
Phil - great to meet you at Sea Otter today. Thanks for the taking the time for the photo and chat! I hope you have a safe trip back home.

Hopefully more fun episodes now that the snow is starting to go away.
Man great music!! Super stoked for you on the 3 and the flip. You had me ansty waiting on the flip! Keep up the good work Phil!
Best part of the whole video was the music and the timing of the shovel slaps
Phil could you also do a X-Up tutorial!!
Dan Guy really???
In Golf ⛳ they call that Replacing Your Divot.
The shovel follows the beat of the song
It's the editing
I know I just thought it was kinda cool
I thought you didn't know why. Sorry!
No problem
And who knows maybe you helped someone who didn’t know
😂🤣that shovel Pat is so satisfying 😂
Nice video and nice work on the jumps 🤙
Love your videos Phil! You are crazy to throw the flip there. Also loved the music with the shoveling! Great video!
Im really excited about the trails drying out.

Skills With Phil well you’ve been very successful at it!
Great video! Love watching the progression!
Haha crazy. How long did it take you to synch the shovel slaps and music so well together? Great video once again.
I need to learn how to smooth pack. I've tried it but sometimes the mud gets stuck on the shovel and it mess my berms and jumps!
the shovel percussion was on point
That backflip was INSANE
Keep up the great content ma dude
Loved the editing! Good to see ya back on dirt
Can I get a Yeehaw for all the trail builders out there?!?!🤠🤙

I love the fact that the shovel slaps are in time with the music.
So good to see you riding dirt
Nice fun little video. Glad you were able to get out and get some ride time.
The bigger line looks sick, it would be cool to see it redone and ridden.
I like your style Phil, you are an inspiration. Great video and great riding.
Going all in on a solo session! Sick!
Love how you timed the music to the shovel/vice versa
Do you ever take the helmet off?? Lol. You wore it the entire time working on Berm Creek as well!

Kudos for giving it another go, 👍
