I always learned to to only one side and then let it dry to go back to the other side. If you are doing a corner with a ceiling...do all of the opposite sides and come back in 2 days and do the other opposite sides. I am never pressed for time so that's they way i do it. I'm enjoying your videos
The BEST drywall training series... hands down, even for many of us with some experience. Had no idea how many things I've been doing the hard way. Thank you!
Mitch, could you do a video on coating/skimming alternative surfaces. I need to skim Hardibacker, but not sure what primer, tape, and coating to use. Many different answers out there, but a video would be great! Thx.
I'm dedicating my time to creating a Business Plan to sell right now but see if this helps. Alternative surfaces can be skimmed so long as they're solid and not flexing (i.e. paneling). Priming with Kilz2 will assure a tight bond. I have coated Hardibacker several times with total success.
awesome job thanks for the tips on that. I like the corner trowel, however I don't coat with it, I coat both sides with the knife then do one final pass with the corner trowel to clean up any gouges I made in the corner with the knife.
FYI, I'm finding that the manufacturers are going away from producing "topping" and are calling that product "ultra-lite" all purpose or something similar.
you often mention texturing after sanding,do you mean that another layer of compound will be applied and made into a pattern? not at all common where I live. good videos

Great commentary. Easy to understand, makes perfect sense.

I can see how that could be effective.
Geez you're making this look too easy! Wish I watched this a long time ago! Thanks.
You're welcome!
Great video. Informative and explained perfectly. Watching all your other uploads now 👍🏻
Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful.
mitch, you have given me the skills and confidence to add tape and spackle to my skills set and because of you ive already seen returns. thank you !
You're Welcome Jack. I'm so glad to hear your success story! If you haven't yet, check out Drywallinstruction.com!
When you tape how many coats does it take is it 3?
corner trowels are good for plastering corners, cannot get a good finish on mud taping
I've watched a couple of your videos. Great information, but lacking closeup camera work to see better your techniques. Cheers
Good job man, keep it up
Thanks, you too!
Are you using all purpose joint compound?
I'm using topping like always when coating.
FYI, I'm finding that the manufacturers are going away from producing "topping" and are calling that product "ultra-lite" all purpose or something similar.
am I wrong...I always use tape for the corners..is this a new way or what??
The corners were previously taped. This video was on topping, which is done after the taping.

If you look at my website @ drywallinstruction.com you'll see several examples of texture.
Thanks for the great tips!!!
You're welcome!
what about the paper ?
What about what paper?
i think he means did you use paper tape in the corner at first?
can clearly see internal joint has been taped at beginning of vid
Yes you can, this segment is about coating a corner that's already taped, let's not make it to difficult guys!
Make that "too".
this is not how you spackle at all! would take an eternity for u guys to get anything finished lol
That's awesome! Are you a professional "spackler"?
makes no sense to finish both corners and then use that stupid tool...
Buem video
