- Several shipping firms have rerouted their vessels from the Red Sea after ships were attacked by Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The world's second largest shipping line, Maersk, said on Tuesday that it would reroute some of its vessels around Africa's Cape of Good Hope.
The Red Sea is one of the world's most important routes for oil and liquefied natural gas shipment, and analysts have warned the attacks could see a rise in prices.
The disruption has led the US to launch an international naval operation to protect ships on the Red Sea route.

Serious Question - Why should I as US Taxpayer protect companies that make billions in profit to protect their product?
Without them, you will suffer the economic consequences of supply shocks. Remember what it was like during the pandemic? It will literally lead to people dying.
Because it affects all goods including oil, food etc. So the overall impact will be much higher than the small portion of tax you pay that goes to support your armed forces (which is already accounted for whether the navy is in the red sea or not). That said, you should put pressure on your government to increase corporate taxes on profits! Every government of the world should be doing that!

The "Operation Prosperity Guardian" is NOT going to work against Houthis in the Red Sea as it didn't work with the Taliban in Afghanistan.
If the Houthis fire a "barrage of missiles" and "Kamikaze drones" toward the Commercial Cargo ships and Navy ships/destroyers like Hamas did in Gaza toward Israeli cities and towns, the Navy ships won't be able to eliminate the Threats in the Air, and they will easily be targeted and hit.
