We have a lot of the same feelings about being stationed here at Eielson. We appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of the base, but it is such an extreme place, with such a long adjustment period. I love the summer days with all sun! The winters make me feel crazy with full days of dark. By the time winter ends and we roll back to summer, I'm so ready to soak up all the sunshine.

The Daily Deals yes! Definitely love the warmth these days. The darkness was tough for me... seasonal depression was so real, hopefully this year I can adjust to that a bit quicker, at least that is the goal.

@@PVergara I think knowing what's coming helps. The first winter is the hardest but they get easier. We only have one left 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I've got orders to this base. After 5 years in minot and 3 in Phoenix I am ready for all this stuff youre talking about. Maybe it's a little weird but I feel excited hearing the real talk about it. Thank you for making so much content about this base. My family has a lot to look forward to thanks to y'all.

My dad was stationed at Eielson AFB when I was from 7-10 years old... What a place to have spent part of my childhood! And yes- the mosquitos are NO JOKE! They will get you through jeans and thermals!! No doubt!! Lol

We’ve been here about a year & a few months as well and I can tell you all of this is very true! 😂 You should post it on the eielson page so all the new people can be prepared.

Never been stationed in Alaska but I think the 24h sun light would bug me . We have Gnats here in Georgia and those really suck they attack you by millions it’s like little annoying fruit flies .

We were supposed to arrive in May but got pushed to September with everything going on. We are nervous but pretty excited at the same time! Do you guys enjoy living on base or do you think it’s better to find a place off base?

Veronica Fudge i personally really enjoy being on base. I knew I didn’t want to live off base bc the homes are a bit separated from your neighbors sometimes and if Lalo got deployed I didn’t want to feel distant. Plus the registered offenders in the area kind of scared me... 😅
Another thing to note is that off base you have to pay fuel for heating in some cases and that can be very expensive, I like that I dont have to worry about pay “bills” and it is just deducted from our checks. They also maintain the grass in our yards and any maintenance issues we have in our home... off base I would feel lost on how to take care of a home in extreme weather.

Thank you for all the great Facts .
Me and my family will be stationed at Alaska in the ending oh August and I would love for you to do a video or give us more information about vegan food please.
My daughter has a milk , peanut allergy so she can't have anything with milk Or peanuts , and I'm just very curious to know what kind of vegan options they have over there.

My son is going there next month and he is an 92F and will be deployed there. Do you think he will be there for a long time? Coming from a nervous parent who wants to know.

Don’t be nervous, after being here for a year it really isn’t a scary place like I thought it would be. For the extreme cold, wearing the right clothing is key. As for knowing if he will be here long, well only he would be able to know, but it just depends on the branch and career within the military. As for tips, well I share our experiences as a family through my videos. I created an entire playlist of our first year in Alaska: th-cam.com/play/PLvuOEBxTdrqKW73T4_7eQ8xXHlBNicWkN.html perhaps these videos might bring a bit more insight 😊

Jessica White currently only 2 on base. Sunrise which is only drive thru and the starbucks inside the Yukon, limited due to covid
