    How lovely that the children came and talked to you and drew you pictures. That kind of experience is priceless. I would love to go to a French flea market someday. I would be in my element. I really like how you left the lady on the tombstone's face blank. It didn't need any detail to it. I think it would have detracted from its impact. I am very much enjoying your videos. It rains so much here in Cornwall too!

      Yikes, I cannot imagine what Cornwall was like last week. Here is Swansea we had two days of 89mph winds which is a lot, even for Wales.
      You are right about it being a special meeting with those kids. Children are so fearless about making and they were an inspiration, to say nothing about cute as heck. Thanks for stopping by! Kelly

    Kelly, I haven't finished this vid as of this writing, but I L O V E your story, of the 2 sweet, innocent kids being so impressed with what you were doing, that they had to pitch in themselves! Sooo happy you added the sketches as well, into your book! Sounds like you greatly inspired them, especially that little boy! I'm so impressed by this! Now, on with the film!

    • @BookandPaperArts
      @BookandPaperArts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lynn, it was precious. Especially as we were speaking in French and as with their drawings, kids aren't judge-y about grammar and elementary mistakes, they are just happy to be communicating and that gave me confidence and we were really just teaching each other.

    Hi Kelly, loved the video and the "armchair travel" to France..your journal is very special..the interaction with the 2 children and their drawings that you included in your pages is so personal and who knows you may have a original from some famous artist..the sketch by the boy is VERY good!! I admire the simplicity in the pages, yet the memories and the events of your trip are all right there for you to look back on.. the trip sounds like it was a refreshing and wonderfully artistic adventure.. good for you!! Looking forward to every video and tutorial that you put out there for us aspiring ones that LOVE paper, drawing, painting and just being CREATIVE !!! Thank you.

      @BookandPaperArts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why thank you, Debbie. Journal keeping, of all kinds, is one of the most important things in my life (although book altering is also right up there). As for aspiring, just start where you are. When I began I couldn't draw a stick-figure cat...but I drew anyway and now when I look back at my early, primitive efforts, they still conjure up the memories and meaning of when I was doing them and living them. Just leap and do it! Kelly

    I finally got to watch your new video and as always your drawings and stories are awesome and inspiring. I can’t believe the kids took only 20 minutes to do their drawings WOW! And with a pen. I have never tried to use a pen to draw, but ever since I started watching your videos I have given it a try. I think I need a lot more practice. LOL! Thanks! For sharing your travel journal.

    • @BookandPaperArts
      @BookandPaperArts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Esmeralda. The thing about children and how they create is no one told them that it should take more than 20 minutes and that a plain old pen is not enough. They are fearless. Try not to worry so much about practice and just be fearless and have fun and sketch, sketch, sketch. Kelly 😊😊🎨🎨

Now, I don't want to encourage you to stay on the screen when you have pages to make but as and when, here is a video about that specifically - how to enjoy your trip and keep a travel journal at the same (mostly) time. Always a delight. I have not traveled since COVID...I should.... Backpack Hostels No Tours for 10 years - 6 weeks at a time around the world. Joan of Arc historical trail is on my bucket list. Thanks for taking us along; your documentation is inspiring

    • @BookandPaperArts
      @BookandPaperArts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Deb. Yup, you are preaching to the choir - that first trip after a couple of years took some pushing to get the momentum going. I am still masking up, especially on public transport so would probably do the same in a hostel but do it anyway! Visiting places where Joan of Arc actually was is weird and moving - a reminder that she was not a myth but a real teenager pulling off one of the greatest feats in history as we know it. It is moving and something to think about. Kelly

I am thinking it will be November before I show the haul because as soon as I got home husband got Covid and that hijacked ten days of work and I had to let go and accept this as part of the process, and then laugh at myself for being anxious about this because dang in, it will still be just as cool in November as if I kill myself trying to get it situated while nursing and coping. • @BookandPaperArts
      @BookandPaperArts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@wrlSivan16 Hmmm. Not sure what you mean about deconstructing the book. Do you mean preparing it for altering? As for a scanner, I can say that they have come down in price and up in quality a LOT recently. You could also see if anyone you know has one who would makes scans for you in exchange for money or maybe even art! Overthinking, that's one for all of us but I use an old book to try techniques and samples and then I can move on to putting it in my "real" book. Then when the sample book is full it is actually a fun, creative, memory book to have, too. Kelly
