Right on, right now I'm trucking wheat out of fields around Orangeville for southfield Farms. My first season doing grain, certainly a different experience. As soon as the wheat is cut somebody is out baling straw, then trucking out the bales. The classic looks cool, you seem fortunate enough to be around some nice equipment, cheers!
more videos with this truck i have a soft spot for classic flattops my grandfather had a 99 flattop with a cummins 425 he passed after a stroke i love seeing these trucks working please do more videos with the freightshaker
@18WheelsTrainingServices, a Class 1 driving school here in Regina got some nice looking freightliner classic trucks, i did not go to them but i really love their training trucks!! very old school, the only freightliner real trucks, also the FLC of course!!
Well....... thats a loaded question!! Let me preface it by saying i have driven several of each of these engines with factory horsepower specs.. Theres no denying Detroit is probably the cheapest engine to run... between the fuel milage and the rebuild cost at 1/3 of the cat combined with the way they sound when piped.... the N14 drives like a Detroit... im not a huge fan of its sound except you can’t find a more violent sounding jake brake... and its no slouch on the hills but it won’t touch the cat even comparing the 430 cat with the 12.7 Detroit the cat will hang in on a hill longer and they weren’t bad for fuel but they are not very popular and you still have the expensive rebuild... in my opinion running a tandem u might as well have the Detroit or n14 at the end of the day i would take the Detroit... but if you are pulling a 5 axle or super bs you can’t beat the cat (still talking factory specs) i know you can turn any motor up to the sky and they will pull like a cat but i think there is a reason engineers set the HP where they did.... i drove cats a lot when i started driving but i am finding myself liking the 12.7 more and more for hauling tandems
@@Bubbles8V92 appreciate your opinions. I'm still filling my mental file cabinet before I really start looking to purchase. I know my right foot is extremely heavy so Detroit would probably be best for fuel
Matt Berg ya theres a reason so many guys are putting in the 12.7 gliders.... the 14 litre Detroits have bad castings in the head that often cracked between the fuel system and the oil galleries so they are a bit of a problem....
@@Bubbles8V92 I've owned all three engines, and an E-7 Mack. The series 60 ran the best without any mechanical problems, but the N14 had better power. Now my C-15 single turbo, 379 Pete, has the most power, hands down, sounds the best, 7" straight stacks no muffler, drinks more fuel, and I just did an out of frame on it, really, really expensive. I bought this 2000 Pete knowing the engine was tired, but refuse to get into a truck with emissions, didn't want to play the "Deleted" game either. Put a ceramic coated PDI manifold on it, and what a difference in power, and boost. Non wastegated turbo, that I already had. Recommend those exhaust manifolds to everyone. Unless you're emissioned to death. Set it back down to 550hp, and with that manifold it pulls as hard, and the boost is now the same, as it was when it was set at 625 hp. My series 60 was set at 470hp, on the pedal, but it just didn't feel that strong, it is only 12.7L. My N14 was 500hp, and it felt like it, too bad the truck was just shot though. I pull a 48' walker in city traffic, like pulling a brick wall around, so getting mileage in any truck is the stuff of dreams, so I'd rather have the power.
That's probely a "HOLSET" 40 ( on big cam ) 60's are usually on N14 . Both spool up quick with LOTS of WHISTLE . Sounds REALLY good at idle w/ 8's or 10's ...

My question is can you swap to put a C15 into a freightliner Classic
Ya if ya want... im thinking the gauges are mostly mechanical yet.... but they were definitely a lot with cats
In the top right corner of the dash what is the egg timer lookin dial?
Engine shutdown time pretty handy when you are in a hurry for dinner but wanna let the truck cool down for a few minutes first

Nice rig. What's your opinion on 12.7 vs N14 vs 3406e?
3406e best one

Where you get that visor?
I believe its 12 Gauge Customs
Like the sound of the turbocharged, I am thinking you don't here that in newer trucks.
Not as much.... love the old big cam cummins turbo... they have such a shrill idle note 🤗

Молодец!! Че еще сказать..
Nothing like a freight shaker
Sweeet
I don't know WHY Freightliner Blocks a lot of your vision with that stupid dash??
I like the layout but ya its horrific, dont mind it for local work but city traffic is brutal for blond spots
Not speak?.
