It took me a minute to realize why I was digging this color layout so much and I was trying to figure out which single pigments I'd use to create one like it... and then I realized it shares very similar vibes with the palette I already put together for my palette class a while back 😂 Lovely artwork as always, Tori! Thank you for this video. Made me feel enthusiastic again about my Prima sets -- I got the Essence, Woodlands, and Vintage Pastel sets for Christmas because I adored the colors ... but then watched videos from certain people who basically poo-pooed them and said they were low quality (full of fillers, chalky, muddy, worthless, etc.) and it really took the wind out of my sails. I know I shouldn't let other people's opinions affect me like that but I'm newer to traditional art and still very unsure about things, and having people sneer at the things I liked just made me feel really bad. I felt so stupid, like I had wasted my money and that I should have known better. That's when I started down a rabbit hole of pigments and colors and all the "you have to get single pigments" blahblah that a ton of TH-camrs constantly say and it made me feel even more foolish about my purchases (which once made me happy). I did get some small tubes of Schmincke (I live in the EU so they're more affordable than in the USA) but now they're "too precious", if you know what I mean, and I sweat bullets when I want to use them! Guess what I'm trying to say is, your video is so nice and thank you so much for it. I was just feeling crappy all around like I'd made one mistake after another, and you always have such positivity in your videos. I'm going to take out my Prima sets again and experiment. I love them (yes, even with "low quality" and chalks and all), they're the exact colors I want and I feel like I can slowly experiment without having to constantly worry about mixes and such at this point. Of course I will also learn and get used to mixing my own in the future, but for now it's nice to not have to worry so much. Thank you, Tori.
There are NO rules in art! So don't ever feel invalidated because you're preference is different from others! For example I love Pg8 (the only production I know of this is green by white nights) but people often poo-poo it cause of its light fastness and in the start I stopped using it because of this even though light fastness wasn't a concern for me but nnow there is no way that you can make me remove it from my palette! I also have a special place in my heart for blacks (specifically nuetral gray by schminke cause no actual black pigment woohoo!) I know a lot of artists act like black and white paint are the devil in disguise, but I will still love my black no matter what and use it to make my moody colours cause that's what works for me and it may ar may not work for others! That's the beauty of art: There are no rules and don't make anybody make you believe otherwise! Good luck on your art journey! :D
I love your reviews of watercolor because they are based in actual use rather than some ideal. For example, I have often heard bad reviews of certain watercolors that I like, like Holbein because of the fact that their paints contain some colors that are not single pigment. And it made me doubt myself, because I liked them. But, like you said about the Holbein in the past and now about the Primatec above, the mixtures are not chalky and can even be mixed further. I'm such a color fanatic, and have been interested in these pallets for a while and from what you say, they will be worth a try.
Skybalancer there are more metrics to student grade than chalkiness. However, it’s perfectly okay to like student grade paints. My favorite is the “pretty excellent” pan paints so far

Hi Tori, I'm a beginner watercolor painter and on multiple occasions I've thought about giving up on watercolors cause I never felt like I could ever use them right or make a good piece using them, but every time I watch your videos they inspire me to keep working with them. Love your work❤

Yep much colors of prima sets have the PW6 pigment in it... thats white... i personally dont like it... milleo also have much colors with white mixed... well but if you like the pastell style and avoid the white corlors for mixing its ok i think🤔 and really awesome drawing!!! My most fav. So far on your new channel!! 😁

I got the Tropicals and loved it but I do almost everything digital these days. But every time I see a cool watercolor palette I can't help wanting it bad; this one looks really nice!
That rich dark reddish brown is reminiscent of Permanent/Imidazolone Brown or PBr25, aka my ride or die color. It’s so beautiful and mixes so nicely 🤩 I recommend using it with ultramarine to get some beautiful purply grayish neutrals and delightful granulation. People always say burnt sienna and ultramarine is nice but nah, PBr25 is where it’s at. The dark blue reminds me of Indanthrene Blue or PB60 as well! This palette looks right up my alley but lord knows I don’t need more palettes 😅
Oh wow, I've been watching all your old prima videos from your last channel, and when this popped up, I thought it was one I missed. Exciting to see you still using prima! I'm currently deciding what palette I want to get. It's between tropical and the confetti set! Your videos on them are excellent product demos and it's fun watching you work!
I was so excited when I saw the title cause I have this set! I had bought it cause the main palette I use is the kuretake gansai set so I have to have a separate palette for mixing and it takes up a lot of room on my tiny desk xD (still absolutely love them and use them though) I love seeing how other people use the same sets cause they all have different approaches to how they use it or paint! This makes me wanna dig my set back out and try some new mixes :D
Whelp, that's another confections set going on my wish list. Your swatches and painting and descriptions make it so tangible how those paints would feel on the brush and on the paper. It makes me want to paint with these colours myself.

LOVE this one! I love everything you create but I especially love this piece. I love the style of this character and the colors were unreal. You motivated me to buy the tropicals set which I still haven't used bc I'm completely new to watercolor and I'm also a prude when it comes to using new art supplies especially nice ones. I'm the same when it comes to my markers and sketchbooks that I hoard, it's way more than first page jitters with my crazy ass. But now you have me wanting this watercolor set. @@VictoriaGedvillas prima are a bit expensive in the uk so it's the one prima set I own lol. That said like there's so many rich colours in it I think you'd love it, esp if you used essence and odyssey together, I think they'd really compliment each other. (altho I did hear when I researched it that there are some crossover colours in certain sets. But the moody purple in it is soooo beautiful aaaa I gotta use it more orz.) I look forward to seeing more of the essence palette tho 8) always a joy to see your videos!

After binge watching ur vids I’ve heard the phrase “color is relative” quite a lot and I’m not sure if you mean it to get us thinking but it really does! The phrase has been rolling around my head for days and it makes me feel really inspired to experiment with colors and just play! So thank you☺️

I've got 2 sets the shimmering lights and decadent pies, the shimmering lights are really strange almost like they are disintergrating when you add water and they go all bloby. The SL are better, I love the colours of both but the paints do not stay put and slide around so I stuck them in with double sided tape which is annoying, did you find this too?
