Hi there. My father seems to be experiencing this after cardiac surgery. What was your outcome of this? And how did you and or the doctors treat it? How long did it take? Any advice would be great. Thanks. Hope all is well in these troubling times.

My dad had cardiac surgery 1 week ago and is experiencing so much confusion and delirium now after only 3 days in the ICU and he has never had issues with this before. It’s so scary and unsettling. 7 police officers had to help the nurses with him in the hospital the other night because he was trying to leave in the middle of the night.
I was seriously ill with a bowel obstruction in January and suffered from this for about 48 hours. I "dreamed" behavior I actually engaged in, became paranoid, and accused the wonderful nurses of trying to harm me. I'd have long talks with my sleeping roommate. I was convinced there was a center for autistic children across the hall. I kept seeing a little boy named Joey coming into my room from there. He looked and talked like an angel. The doctors argued my case couldn't agree on my case but the hospitalist took over and had me squeezed into the surgery schedule for a total colectomy and permanent ileostomy. I am 68 and have my brain and body back. How I wish I couldn't remember the way I behaved! Frightening.
I was on a ventilator for 14 days and I hallucinated all kinds of crazy shit. It's been a year and I still remember a lot of it. I thought something was wrong with my brain for a little while when I got off.
