Fantastic explainer, Jono. I've been thinking about this subject in the context of Balaji Srinivasan's "Network State" concept, so this is perfectly timed. Cheers

@@jonobacon no worries, Jono. I just bought your latest book on Audible, looking forward to diving deeper. I was already a fan of what you achieved at Canonical; the community is what drew me to Ubuntu, and made me stick around, so I can't think of anyone better from whom to learn how to build a community. I have a sneaking suspicion that your experience and skills are only going to become in greater demand as time goes on...

Thanks so much, J J. Yeah, Canonical was a heck of a ride and I had such a great time there. It gave me an opportunity to learn and test so many ideas.
Thanks for getting my book. What kind of communities are you interested in building?

@@jonobacon the idea is still very much in the embryonic stage, but I'm interested in the theoretical application of frameworks like Decentralised Autonomous Organisations to real-life scenarios such as NGOs, local community organisations that support vulnerable people, and local government (much like the "Network State" concept mentioned above). I'm very interested in learning from your book how to drive initial engagement and maintain ongoing participation. It's just a thought exercise, really, but who knows - maybe something useful could come of it.

This sounds fantastic! Would love to hear more as you experiment with this. Best of luck!
