The star of that movie Cheng Pei-pei went on to be the lead in half a dozen other Shaw Brothers movies in the 60's and 70's. She is generally considered to be the first female action star. There was the Japanes movie Lady Snowblood. So not sure why some people are complaining about the lead character being female.

There were female warriors in feudal Japan but they usually were involved as last resort when it came down to defending their families and lands(Onna-Bugeisha). There are also examples of female warriors which led large groups of samurai but first of all they were from noble families and secondly they were in commanding positions. Some of them were excellent archers thats why Yuna from the original Ghost was so interesting but now we have a 7 stone female which will be fighting multiple big dudes no problem! I feel sucker punch where vary of going down the route of the assassin’s creed franchise and making an amazing story from one protagonist at the start of their franchise. It’s likely future games would never match up and the franchise would ultimately end up being unsustainable. It does allow them to make a GoT 2 if things ever get bad tho which is good but Jin’s story isn’t finished and shouldn’t be considered as such. Maybe they aim to create multiple protagonists with multiple sequels which would kinda give a CoD feel with modern warfare and black ops going back to back. That would be really cool
I think people who are already trashing the new game are so stupid because one of the main points in Tsushima was legacy and atsu could possibly maybe be jins descendent or just someone who was inspired by him, as someone who would say Jin is one of my favorite characters ever I was a bit bummed that Jin isn’t in this one but I think it’s gunna be peak

I would have liked something in the GoY video game trailer that said this is going to be a good video game, not a bunch of clips thats trying its hardest to “appeal” to me. This gives off a heavy commercialization and capitalization vibe. It’s unfortunate their ambitions of making Ghost into a big franchise is turning such a unique IP into something that feels so generic. It seems like they’ve traded soul for flashiness and what “works”. Queue the auroras, the flashy art direction, mass appealing and safe protag, and the Japanese folk music with a western twist. I guess that’s how you catch new eyes. I would suggest that it’s by standing out and doing something different, but maybe that’s just me.

How could Jin keep being the ghost tho? Once the mongol invasion was over and he established himself he aint gonna randomly roam the island killing the odd bandit- with everyone knowing who he was. A follow on game would have to be about him as a samurai general - and that wouldnt be a ghost game. I think Jin's arc was great and leaving him at that point made sense. I'd rather play another great arc for a new ghost. I see no reason SP cant nail it again. Im also glad its not set on the same map.
I feel like Jin’s story ended yes there was a few things left open but not enough for an entire game if they continued the story it would pretty much be a rehash because his legend is established and the Khotun Khan defeated so it’s hard to go up from their and the map of Tsushima is already well known and for Jin to leave Tsushima doesn’t make much sense

Ubisoft hasn’t delivered anything but woke slop so they get 0 benefit of the doubt. I completely understand that Yotei could be another complete bomb waiting to drop if more comes out and it looks infested with woke rhetoric then I’ll be first in line to criticize for now it’s a female warrior in a interesting setting for the Sengoku period.
Can’t wait! I’ll miss Jin but I understand their reasoning better now. Looking forward to Atsu, looks 🔥
That would be amazing to have a mythical tale with Jin. At this state, he's with the legendary warriors
They better not remove the hotsprings… for getting extra health ya know
Hehe they better not with this character
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sucker Punch just gave us all a Sucker Punch
😂
Why?
Sucker Punch is one of the only gaming companies that still put love and creativity into everything they do.
I hope everyone at this studio gets paid so much they can have a good life 🙏 those people are real artists!
Jin story arc is an unfinished business.
Wdym unfinished bro? Its clearly finished and they did a good job with ut
jin’s story was well rounded and finished with not much else to be said. i’m glad they’re putting us in a new context and setting and it lives up to the idea of the ghost. this has serious potential to be a great anthology:)
When I saw this I was like oh, here we go an entire new arc of being hunted. I assumed when Tsushima finished it would play out events of being hunted by the shogun or at least something tied to the shogun, but I can’t say I’m sad about not seeing Jin. His story was beautifully done. I, myself cried, it was a beautiful story. Felt like a movie!
But I’m keen to see this new Ghost. Atsu, I’m sure will go beyond what Jin had started. I’m also hoping there will be a third installation of the ghost series, to just end the franchise off, maybe we’ll have to see how Yōtei ends.
I thought this was a new character and then in the third game they would meet but it’s entirely different.
I’m excited, nervous and so so keen to dive into a new world again!
She got at least 3 different weapons jin only got a katana it’s already better.
This is 300 years
It's around Miyamoto Mushashi Era so we might see the legend himself
Kunai and bow are « weapons »
“Only” a katana 😂
He had a flame sword
Between this and the Stellar Blade x Nier Automata collab I'm happy and hyped
Mt. Yotei is a mountain in Hokkaido, Japan.
I wish they would’ve continued Jin story but I’m excited for the new story.
The most important Q now is this ghost 2 or a smaller type game like miles morlas?
Also a good question
Yes, that's the question
I feel like the gap between games is way too long to be something like miles morales
@@GingerSnaps13
True good point.
Ghost of Japan series finna go crazy
HZD upgrade for just a tenner, excellent. Some good PS games coming up - some Im not bothered about but others, I'm very excited about. SB photomode, Astrobot additional robots and levels, soulreaver! I know, its a remaster but I'm looking forward to it as I never completed the original and hopefully being a remaster, its going to be a £40 or £50 game. Good times ahead.
So looking forward to this!!
Like a Dragon, Monster Hunter Wilds, Ghost of Yotei, Death Stranding 2, GTA VI, Doom The Dark Ages, Metroid Prime 4, Pokémon Legends Z-A, next year is gonna be PEAK
When one has Platinum'd Ghost of Tsushima and killed everything that had breath, you don't feel the need to do that again on that same island. Im pumped for a new location/time and playing as a new character
I love the moronic culture war dudes freaking out calling the game woke.
Because it is, you don't see samurai ladies in Japanese media do you?
Are u including women too or are u a neck beard here .
@@Dragonfury3000 bro just say you love bandwagons and you don't know how to think for yourself. Sucker punch did a great job with the first entry and you soft boys are collectively crying without even trying the game for yourself. I swear you weak men are everywhere.
She not a samurai she is a bounty hunter it means she serve no master
@@Dragonfury3000 What are you on about? The first game had a female samurai in Lady Masako, a major character, I don't recall that being woke just 4 years ago.
I'm wondering why sucker punch skipped the 2nd Mongol invasion story of 1280.
Yeah big missed opportunity
@@realmusic3914 They could have continue jin sakai story with 1280 setting
They can get back to it in the future if they want to.
Jin got Joel-ed.
@@indeedinteresting2156they could, but that's another 5-6 years to wait 😅
Even though they were Chinese this game makes me think of the Shaw Brothers female lead movie Come Drink with Me which came out in the 60's.
Hope they give a little flash back to Jin or something that’s my guy. Excited nonetheless I know this is gonna be a banger.
Musashi style with the duel swords. I get to carry an instrument on my back while I exact vengeance. She reminds me of Female Prisoner 701 mixed with Jin. The wanted sign says she’s 28-29 years old, wanted for Bounty I think?
I am so ready for this game I'm okay from moving on from Jin he had a great story plus maybe he is mentioned
If they can push the graphics that Ghost of Tsushima provided (even at first when it was for the PS4, it really showed what the console was capable of and what other studios weren't taking advantage of) so one built ground up for ps5... yeah, this small aspect alone is big. Sucker Punch is top shelf in my opinion. I absolutely cannot wait...
I’m quite happy with this direction but I do hope they tie up Jin’s story
Let's hope that sweet baby ink hasn't had any influence over development
There were female warriors in feudal Japan but they usually were involved as last resort when it came down to defending their families and lands(Onna-Bugeisha). There are also examples of female warriors which led large groups of samurai but first of all they were from noble families and secondly they were in commanding positions. Some of them were excellent archers thats why Yuna from the original Ghost was so interesting but now we have a 7 stone female which will be fighting multiple big dudes no problem! She is gonna be a merry sue Mark my word. So immersive 😂
If Jin doesn't show up as an actual ghost, it will be such a missed opportunity
Ubisoft-Assasins Creed, you might want to sit back for this one.
It's Sucker Punch so I think it will be good, they good at telling stories and having a good leading character
I'm hyped for it, last one was great so this one can't be bad
TLOU2 is all that needs to be said.
@@Dandoskyballer gameplay wise tlou2 is a masterpiece, story wise not so much, the passing is messed up, aside from that, so far sucker punch has not given me reasons to doubt their ability to make good/great games and stories but we'll see, I guess it could be bad but it would have to be literally intentional.
I think they should have done 1 more game with jin, then branch out to different characters but ill definitely be playing this regardless
Hopefully we learn some of what happened to Jin but either way i know we getting an amazing game so im not worried bout nothing 🙏🏾
So we are never gonna see Jin vs The Shogun?
I'm personally really hoping they go back to Jin and Tsushima either in the next game or st they least in a future game so we can see that, there's still more that they could do with Jin and the time period, so fingers crossed they do that down the line, but nevertheless I'm still so hyped for this
Would have preferred a Jin sequel but I'm sure this will be a lot of fun so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
At first I was very irritated they went whole new Protagonist and now following up with Jin but then it is Sucker Punch. I think they deserve the patience and not just dogpiling on them. It appears maybe this will be during a Shogunate change/takeover so I am super excited to see what happens. I REALLY REALLY hope Jin is a Legend you can find in this game like the Legend Jin could hunt down and interact with in GOT.
As long as yotei likes the sausage
Show ubisoft how to play a female protagonist
I think people who are already trashing the new game are so stupid because one of the main points in Tsushima was legacy and atsu could possibly maybe be jins descendent or just someone who was inspired by him, as someone who would say Jin is one of my favorite characters ever I was a bit bummed that Jin isn’t in this one but I think it’s gunna be peak
4:16 Honestly I think the people who were saying that wanted more of an Ezio or Nathan Drake type character, very obviously charming, charismatic, and funny. But that's not who Jin Sakai is and he shouldn't have to be that to be considered a good character.
Nathan & Ezio got at least 3 games.
@@insaynoyou people are so entitled
300 yeaaaaars later.....
Can't wait , hopefully we'll be able to play it in July or August if the release dates of Ghost of Tsushima and its director's cut are anythibg to go by
She's gonna be the great great great granddaughter of jin
Yin Sakai is grandfather from new caracther 😂😂
Im so excited for this. As long as they dont ubisoft this game. Ishepe they dont merry sue our new hero.
Where's Yasuke at? 🤣
😂😂😂
Montreuil , France . 🤭
SP really said "yo ubishit. Let me show you how it's done"
I can add this one to the list of woke sequels that ruined the franchise, with others being horizon 2 and spiderman 2.
So will it be open world again?
And fyi, the movie adaptation of ghost of tsushima is also coming directed by John wick's director.
What if they go in the ac direction. Different time periods and countries and different ghosts.
Ubisoft assassin creed shadows: we are so screwed
Im gonna buy this game no matter the price and the first chance I get!!!
DON'T fuck up jin story. I'm glad they don't milk Jin story fr. Unlike some big game and film franchises, I'm glad Sucker Punch can put down a finished character. He fought the mongols from invading, accepted his route against his honor code and be The Ghost. He is done and complete, don't bloat that shit. Not to mention Jin being a war hero for the people of Tsushima while being deemed fugitive by the Government of main land Japan is the most Samurai Movie ending shit. Considering they love Kurasawa, That ending should be a proper send off, way too perfect for them to just "Oh wait, let's milk it a little more".
the reason the choose her to be the ghost is dei
This game should be great, there are plenty of samurais and Ronin that exists during this time this is like the wild West of Japan who's one of the most famous two dual-willed blade user musashi miyamoto I really hope they bring him into the game do not make him easy You're not supposed to beat this guy I can't wait, sucker punch It's going to drop another masterpiece
This looks sick af
I hope you can choose the story
I feel like Jin’s story ended yes there was a few things left open but not enough for an entire game if they continued the story it would pretty much be a rehash because his legend is established and the Khotun Khan defeated so it’s hard to go up from their and the map of Tsushima is already well known and for Jin to leave Tsushima doesn’t make much sense
still waiting for the "new story details the trailer didn't reveal"
Here's a thought maybe like in tsushima we can get a mythical weapon or armour or skill of jin
I think ghost armour with sakai blade works best as a mythic tale if they do it, although how would it work if we assume jin stayed on tsushima
@@cocopopslover69 that's a good point the only thing I can come up with is maybe jin in his old age had enough of people hunting him so he left tsushima until he dies somewhere on his travels
@@michaelwilliams7695this could work as a dlc telling us how Jin made it to Yōtei giving people the ability to play as Jin for a little while
only the trailer has been out and yet people are this quick to call it woke bc of the voice actress and that the protagonist is a woman? i find this very ridiculous, you really can't judge it based off that, wouldn't she be professional enough to seperate it from her voice acting?
Can I preorder already?
Man why are people calling it woke. Look I also don’t buy woke games but this is just wrong “im a str8t dude” like no one complained of Yuna. This character feels like Yuna well if she was a Ronin who knows she is probably well written. And also I want her to nail the cross of Ac Shadows
Open your eyes man, its the direction Sony is going with all of their first party. This will be no different.
@@Jerrel28yeah they made pretty obvious people are just refusing to accept
I see a lot of people attack the actress. She's...well she's everything Twitter is. So I get it. I hope they keep her on a short leash.
@@Jerrel28no, you're just caught up in group think judging a game before you've experienced it for yourself and made your own mind up for it. Be your own man for once.
@@DeathsInverse Don't see how I'm using group think, I'm not even on social media, its just an observation. I've seen the pattern slowly over the last 10 years and see what's happening to Sony. I'm not upset about it, as I knew this would be coming. Oh and I guarantee you they'll find a way to make her a lesbian. Don't need to experience it, won't be buying it. Another Sony franchise I can ex off the list.
I hope we get a trilogy
Here's the thing, there's no problem with Female characters being the protagonists or antagonists.
The issue is the implications behind them, we all know it's forced DEI and stuff and the agenda is that females need to be strong with no character development.
That why shows like The Acolyte sucked, no development what so ever just powerful off rip.
But I hope this works out great.
Well said
Agreed I think the only thing that gives me hope that it won’t be like that is the fact that we’ve seen SP do a good job with strong female characters in the past and also the fact that this protagonist doesn’t look like they were made purposefully ugly like many female characters now a days
Yes, no development what so ever, the two female leads started and ended in the exact same place. They didn't learn or make any mistakes at all. Nope.
Honestly, i hope it releases in the latter half of next year so it jsnt overshadowed by GTA VI

Hope the part 3 would be based in Sekigehara

They did this with infamous and it worked out. So not sure why people are freaking out. I wanted a continuation of Jin’s story but I also wanted a continuation of Cole’s story. Second son was great and I have no doubt that this game will be great as well
A good story needs a good ending, Jin’s story had a good ending
Death stranding 2 and ghost is coming out next year. Sony is cooking
Some of us were waiting for a Jin sequel. Others wanted to at least play as a Samurai. It's not surprising why people aren't thrilled to play as Atsu, the cliche silent strong woman.
Cause Jin wasn't the cliché silent strong guy?
Go back and read comments and articles from when the game was announced.
The thing players and critics were least excited about was Jin. They had to play the game to find out he was more than just the stereotype.
Can I guarantee Atsu will have the same depth? No. I can't.
Can you guarantee she is in the story just to fill some sort of quota? No. You can't.
Why not at least wait to see more of her before deciding?
@@mappybc6097 Her voice actor is woke and involved in gender politics. Kinda hard to expect her not to be that stereotype.
Isn’t there supposed to be a venom game next year
