- This year's show, set in the year 2048, imagines a society where social interactions (e.g. talking to one another face to face) have ceased to exist. The people of this futuristic world rely solely on their cellular devices for all forms of communications. Each month they check into a "Genesis" clinic, where they willfully undergo anesthesia so they can experience an alternate reality that offers a form of human connection they have come to believe is impossible in their world. In this story, a malfunction of the "Genesis" technology forces its participants to understand their world in a whole new way.
