Never had any issues with mine. I have a C7 Z51 with 3LT trim. I'm not aware of the Z51 having the wheel issues that the Grand Sport or Z06 were more known to have, but if you are truly planning on driving your car hard over rough roads you might want to invest in custom forged wheels rather than cast wheels. Forged wheels are stronger, but you will pay quite a lot for them. I use ArmorAll for the interior and never had any delamination of the leather. The battery is a little bit hard to change because of the small space, if you plan on doing that yourself. Doing oil changes yourself will save some money but you'll need some low profile ramps or good jack stands. It takes 9.5 quarts of oil if you have the dry sump. Don't cheap out on the car. The purchase price of the vehicle is just the beginning, and buying the recommended oil, tires, gas, and maintenance items will keep your car running just fine.
I don't have a C7, but never heard of anything in this video, other than the overheat issue. Also, he left out the one possible legitimate issue, which is that cylinder deactivation feature.
Maybe it's that I am an old Bastard but I do not put much value in to some young kid making a video about an American sport car. Hell, most of these kids can not afford a sport car they are talking about.
Not sure what’s all these , every car will have parts go wrong. I have my c7 GS for 5 years and not a single issue 🤞. It’s way more stable than a bmw or Benz or Audi.
The base stringray with the NPP exhaust has 460hp also. A few things you missed. The 3LT/3LZ package with the napa leather has issues with delamination on the dash. Also the transmission shuttering due to incorrect trans fluid installed at the factory. This needs a triple flush of the trans fluid to fix.

Not sure what you mean by adding two more rediators? Course I'm only referring to the Z06's, which are the only ones with true cooling issues. Only the '17 model M7 got a new heat exchanger (horizontal) up front in the nose to improve track cooling. The auto already has a heat exchanger there for the A8, so they are out of luck. The '18 A8 model got an updated thicker radiator (38mm to 52mm), which helps I'm sure. But it' was done by trans and also model year, not just "two new radiators", if we are giving out accurate and helpful info. I've done 4 engine installs on my '17 C7Z eventually doing a couple 416 strokers. Procharged and Holley Port. But the best upgrade I ever did for cooling was dumping the factory coolant to oil cooler (which is mounted 1" away from the driver side headers), and doing a fully dedicated front mount oil cooler from improved racing. The oil when tracked can hit 250 which will always pull the coolant temp ups with it. Removing that factory coolant/oil cooler dropped my coolant temps to 220 max, and oil temps to 205 (max) when tracked hard.
That is a huge improvement. I am looking to possibly buy a Z06 (preferably a 2019) and those temps on track is my main concern. Side question: How can I tell if the car I am looking at may have been low miles, but tracked very hard? I know some guys buy and only track them so they are low miles, but those low miles are hard miles and I hope tot avoid buying one in that condition.

The problem in the comments no one drives their Vettes as a daily which in my own opinion your comment saying "no issue here & so on" doesnt matter at all, where are the people that actuallt drives their cars everyday just about cause their comments will be more important than someone that just pushes the car once every 364 days.
I had a 2019 Grand sport. I traded for a 2023 C8. I hated the C8, sold it, and purchased another 2019... Grand sport young generations like the mid engine. I am a lifelong corvette guy. I have owned every generation. The C7 will be my last. Any corvette can have a problem ...I feel this is a personal option video , just like my personal opinion.
This guy owns a C5. There is definitely a bias here😂 go watch his C5 video and see how much he raves about it. Yes, the C5 might appeal to some people and it’s an awesome Corvette but the C7 is better in many ways. C5s are older cars and they got their own issues. Not to mention parts for them are getting harder to find
Both the grand sport and the z06 experience OEM wheel cracking issues. I have a 2018 Carbon 65 grand sport... just over 10k miles and have owned it for 4 years, and I've had 4 cracked rear wheels. The only true fix is to go aftermarket (I went with forged wheels). Things that can potentially mitigate it somewhat are using only touring mode or softer on the road, and not using run-flats. Or you could pay gm another 2k for their wheel warranty which conveniently isn't included with the normal warranty. Outside of the horrendous wheel issues, the car has been fantastic. That being said I don't think I'll be buying a new corvette again from GM considering how they are throwing owners under the bus on these class actions.

Question for you sir... 2016 Corvette Stingray Z51 I have. Manual Transmission. Idle is 600rpm. Just for piece of mind, I would like to increase it to 750rpm. Will this hurt anything? I'm old school and just think 600rpm is soo low and could cause lugging issues like it can on a motorcycle. Thoughts?
The modern engine is capable of being reliable with the low RPM. My Tahoe idles at 600rpm. This increases your MPG and allows your engine to not work as hard. If you want your car to be more responsive at launch, perhaps raising the idle might be okay. However, you’d have ti get the ECU programmed to do so.
@@AutoMotivate I have a plug and play tuner for it. Had to get the diablo one just to turn off the "skip shift feature" That was a pain. Would make me go from 1st to 4th gear at slow speeds, was an EPA thing. Well, not for me lol. Just so weird looking at a 600RPM idle lol.

All very low profile wheels bend and crack when you hit things. My wife had an AMG Mercedes that went through two full sets of wheels. This is the trade off for great handling. The problems described are not so much due to bad engineering but bad owners. Unfortunately too many people who buy Corvettes are old guys who finally saved enough to buy their dream car. With zero sports car experience they go out and buy a Z06 and drive it like the Oldsmobile they had before. They don't look for pot holes and road hazards while they drive and when they hit something they blame weak wheels. What is really at fault is bad driving. I did crack a wheel. I knew exactly when it happened, and it sucked that I could not avoid the hazard. But having owned many cars with low profile tires I was smart enough to buy wheel insurance and the wheel was replaced free of charge.

im really trying to decide if i should stay with mustang or switch to corvette atm its between a 2019-2020 corvette or 350... and so far.... the 350 is more reliable less issues in these years listed and and more hp and rev range.... c7 despite me really LOVING the way it looks and sounds... I'm beginning to think i need to avoid it I've seen tons of videos about its plethora of issues. any takes on this? cuz obviously i still want to drive the c7 and give it a chance, i would buy a c7 in manual not auto... it would be tracked and driven hard not babied. Also have heard auto in the c7 has issues and not just shifting aggressively... alot of high performance cars with auto shift hard through first to second.
I'm selling my Camaro for the c7 this year
the 350 has engine issues, was looking at getting one but I'm over it now..I'll find something better built.
Once you buy a Corvette you'll never go back
If you ever drive a c7....you will dump that mustang in a second..
Hahah the 350 has soooo many issues… those engines are known to break and they burn oil like a motherfucker
My 2019 grand sport
Coolant temperature is
Only runing 179 degrees
Been that way from the factory. Is that normal with you grand sport owners
I see 179 on the highway and on the road without traffic In mild to cold weather. It will get into the 200s in heavy traffic. Don’t think I’ve seen it hit 220 ever
what show is this
Concept
What If The Chevrolet Corvette (C7) Had Been Made In The ’80s?
Back to the Future
What if The Chevrolet Corvette (C7) would look like as a Time Machine?
I had just bought myself a 2016 Mustang Eco at 19 and as a few months later go by I see these corvettes and I’m like dammm they look fucking sick. So I proceeded to look at the prices of them and they were going for like 40-45k. Ofc I’m gonna wait a year or two but I definitely plan on getting one in the near future.
You can find a 2014-2015 C7 for $30-35K in Houston TX.
The problem in the comments no one drives their Vettes as a daily which in my own opinion your comment saying "no issue here & so on" doesnt matter at all, where are the people that actuallt drives their cars everyday just about cause their comments will be more important than someone that just pushes the car once every 364 days.
AFM issue? class action lawsuit active
Great video! I was looking for insight like this
Everything he said is bull shit.
Great video Mate
Still remember do think c six Guy s happy
Actually 2015 was FIRST year of the 8-speed NOT 2016
Great video! Thank you very much.
I was fully committed to owning a C7, but now I watched a 5 minute video on the interweb and I will never buy a C7 🙄
Good! That means there's more for us to choose from. BTW, do you still drive your mother's Yugo to school?!?
This guy is very biased. He’s a C5 fanboy. C7s are pretty stout. All cars have issues and not all of them will have those issues
Excellent
Cylinder deactivation sucks.
Have a 19 2lt. 30k with zero trbls.
Thanks!
zr1 is my dream car. but holy shit theyve gone up in price.
I am thinking to get a C7 Z06, what would you recommend that I fix, change or look into right before I purchase it?
some info is off but good vod
1.30 the zo6 and the zo7 ? Wtf 😳
Good stuff. I'm taking mine for a checkup while I still have my warranty.
Nothing wrong with being cautious. Peace of mind is a good ideal.
I have 2017 zo6 I had none these issues only one I heard about heat thing on the track the rest of the this shit he talking about never heard of. My thing is I didn’t buy my car to take to track if I wanted a race car chev built one a race car I would buy that quit listening to people who don’t know shit about this car..my point
Oh dang! You did not have these issues? AMAZING. That has to mean the issues are non existent.
@@AutoMotivate What you did is paint a picture every one of these C7 zo6 has these problems and that wasn’t the case, every car has some issues but act like every car has this problem bs. I had my 5 years and drive the hell out of it and no I’ve had any those issues. I belong to 3 Corvette clubs and we share info on issues about Corvette in general and things you said never heard of them sorry if you gonna talk about this you should no what you are talking about…that’s my point
Too many louvers, intake slots and do-dads . Looks like the crew at J.C. Whitney designed it. They should gone straight to to the mid engine from the from the 6
oh man it looks so good stock but when i get one i think i might give it the victorracing special XD slap a wing some canards oof .. untill that day comes im here watcing
Do one on the zl1
@@scotty2221 skip shift feature is definitely a bit annoying!
Since you already have the unit, it doesn’t hurt to set it to 750. If you don’t like it, go back to 600rpm.
@@AutoMotivate Thanks! Always thought these big motors need just a little more RPM at idle to avoid wear/tear on some internal parts. Thanks again!
Damn, worst than Infiniti 😂. I was planning on getting this Vette but better off with the Lexus V8. Thanks for the video! Really helped with my final decision. 👍🏼
All cars have their issues. This video should not influence you.
@@AB-coyote Yes but the fact stands that some cars have more issues than others. There are cars that can run on track for an entire day with no issues stock and there are cars like this corvette that overheat in 15 minutes.
I drove my 14 stingray for more than 10 hours on a road trip never over heated .
@@twkmonster84 that’s not a track.
@@xFlared Mentions in the video that this problem occurs with the Z06 Variant of the C7. The non supercharged c7's are fine...
One month in and in ❤!!!
I will never buy a corvette again . I had the torque tube twice ! My car drove only 12000 miles and it had this problem. Bye bye corvette
Now, talk about the flaws with the C8.
Nice splice in of Sonny Crockett seeing his (fake) Ferrari Dayton being blown up.
Keep saying bad things about the ride. Keeps the prices down so we can all buy more of them. There is nothing wrong with these cars. Mine OSCA manual and I beat the crap out of it.
You right, these cars have zero issues.
This guy sounds well uninformed. I have own a 2017 grand sport new. And now a 2019 Z06.Zero issues. But good video you got hits you made me watch. Smh
I’ve had people agree and disagree with this video. Not every vette will have these issues.
@@AutoMotivate it cool bro. Just speaking my truth. I have own now 5 corvettes. C5 2 c6 2 c7 no issues but I get it. Same do have issues but I have had anyone in my vette club complain about issues.
Not yet
I WISH YOU WOULD DO A VIDEO ON THE CHEVY TAHOE 2015 - 2020 .. NO VIDEO IS ON THIS CHANNEL OF THIS 😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
Il add it to my todo list, thank you for the recommendation!
sounds like a piece of parc.
Read this before buying a c7 corvette. A 56 year old guy died after being crushed to death when a FORD F150 ran over top. It's a death trap.
lol the same fate would apply towards any sports car. They are very low to the ground. A high clearance vehicle can run over them. But then again, no car is safe from anything out there

It looks like an Aztek because the designer of the Aztek designed it.
My late husband stole our C7. No problems....
This clown doesn't kniow what he's talking about. I've owned a C6, 2019 C7 stingray and a C7 2019 Grand Sport and have never had any issues at all with anyone of them. He must have found that ONE car which had problems and is now using it to claim all of them do the same thing.
Lmao C7 has all the problems he stated. Plus there's one more which is AFM/DOD Lifter failure. GM screwed up all C7s except ZR1 which is why those sell for a fortune and other C7s are dropping in value. C6 LS3 is way better than this mess sadly. C8 is a disaster.
Well I'm not buying one now lol thanks
i hate this video and couldn't make it though the first minute
Wow waste of time!!! video is nothing more then what if’s and it has happened to a few….. wow guy great job explaining how mechanical parts could go bad…
NO SHIT. Get off your high horse dude. This video is to make people aware of potential issues, just in case. Not all cars will have issues. Chill

This guy just want to make money on TH-cam that's all. I owed many Corvettes over twenty years i naver had any problems.
Glad you didn’t have any issues, other people have. Check the comments before you make assumptions 🙏 I also didn’t say every corvette will have these issues, just things to look out for.
Expensive issues. By the way the word is "novice" pronounced "nahvis" meaning an inexperienced person.
For as long as I could remember, I pronounced it that way 😂
@@AutoMotivate he picked up your mispronunciation at 4:07. We knew what you meant in context. Thanks for sharing the video/pictures of the issues!
PREACH
GM quality....LMAO
If you cannot afford to buy a corvette, it does not mean others should not buy. Your claims are baseless. Absolute nonsense. I am a proud owner of a c7 Z06.
Same with the others who had the issues, obviously
No these issues exist and GM needs to stand behind there loyal customers.
Total FLUFF piece.
WTF this car would cost me 100k and Its this Trash? A VW gti would be better 🤦🏻♂️
no it wouldn't
100k??😂 for a C8 maybe. No it’s not trash, every car has issues but I see a bit of bias in this guy’s video. He praised the C6 in his other video but there are well known issues with those as well, the drive shaft bearing issue happens to those too. C7s get a lot of crap from a lot of people that get C5s or C6s simply cause that’s all they can afford.
I gave a 15 Z51 bought new I get lots of comments these C8 buyers have been taken for a ride. No chevrolet is work 10-40,000 over sticker
Have
No car built is worth that much over sticker
Chronic C7 auto transmission shuddering with 2015 to 19 models, and several other GM models of the same period. Best to avoid them altogether.
