One man shares his encounter with a woman he met on a friendship app named Cherry from Thailand. She wasn't a 40 year old single mother and he learns an expensive lesson.
A lot of these scammers live in extreme poverty. Nothing can justify what they do, there's 110% no excuses for doing it. But poverty is an explaining factor why they do it. Desperation can cause certain people to take desperate measures to improve their situation. If someone online asks for money before a meeting it's time to run. Like the road-runner: meep meep! *swoooosh*.
Number one rule: do NOT give money to anyone, no matter the circumstances. Poor guy, I get how you can get duped. I was in a similar situation except the guy turned out to be married. Sir, if you’re reading this….You’re not alone!!!!
I can't understand why people want a romance half way around the world. Whether you move there or she moves to you, there is a good chance you will wind up supporting her whole family. Family is very big there and even a middle class American is like a millionaire in those countries. Also chances are she will move back home, this happened to a friend of mine, AFTER they had some kids. She took the kids too.
There is a guy at work I work for postal & his wife is in the Phillipines. He actually flew a few times & sends her money there. a year or so ago, I asked out a girl at work. & I am more happier. She is no longer there but we still date. I don't understand too
Exactly, I found myself in a similar situation but I didn’t send money and realized “she” was attempting to scam me. I have since met a wonderful woman who is local and have met her and gone out many times.

FYI scammers with the advancement of AI will video chat with the victim using the stolen profile. Regardless if it's real or not do not send money . They are still stranger

They’re able to live with themselves because they do not have a conscience. They don’t even believe that they were stealing. They lie like rugs yet they Will still tell the victim “I can’t lie to you“
Friends need to recommend grief counseling instead of online dating for their widowed friends. Even if romance scams did not exist, it is not a good idea to jump into a new relationship soon after one has ended regardless of how it has ended.

Both his sister and daughter warned him about this woman but he didn’t listen to them. This is typical of scam fitness. First they ignore the warning signs from the scammer then they ignore the warnings from their family and friends.

To flirt w men make money 💰 etc and Cherry very typical asian name I’m half Laotian where Thailand is where we went as refugees . And I’m very familiar w what woman do there n how things work I’m sure she’s real but it’s all about money for them especially being 40 she’s old already
Awareness is the only way to avoid becoming a victim, but shaming a friend or family member who has fallen victim is not helpful. We may all fall for a scam at one point of our lives.
Unlike most scams, the romance scam is much more preventable on the part of the victim compared to other scams. And the person you have never met who is supposed to be a potential romantic partner asks you for money, just don’t send it to them.

It’s fun looking at building etc . for 25-40k USA you can build a beautiful home all tile many bathrooms perfect plumbing all tile hard wood and granite tops we built 1 was 40k but this was mansion style home in America you can build a small nice clean small one for 15k
It’s common nickname in Thailand, Thai’s have a birth name then a nickname given to them by their parents or a family member when they are still babies. Through life they’ll generally use their nickname like it’s their given name, it’s just a Thai tradition.

We use money gram and western union all the time for our families . All the time my aunts there my grandma passed 2022 and maybe she did send to doctor but I’m sure it was someone else’s name she didn’t want to be connected to by name or hav him get her real name
I’m in a genuine long distance relationship with Thai, we’ve met each other several times and it just kind of happened when I was out there working, we kept in touch and I’ll be going back out here in a few weeks. Sometimes these things just happens, you can’t help who you fall in love with after all. Some of us don’t want a local, all relationships are different

It always bugs me when people say they lost money due to the scammer. You didn't lose your money guy. You willingly gave it away.
