- Located in the north of Tunceli, Ovacık takes its name from the 74 km2 plain located between the mountains. With an area of 1538 km², it is the largest district of Tunceli in terms of land.
Transportation to the district, which is 65 km away from the city center, is provided by the highway, which continues along with the Munzur Water and is full of unique nature views within the Munzur Valley National Park.
Ovacık Plain is one of the largest and most important agricultural areas of the province. The main agricultural products are wheat and beans. The very cold, snowy and long duration of the winter season has compressed agricultural activity into a short period of three months.
Munzur Caves, which have a touristic and sacred nature, are located 17 kilometers west of the district. Munzur water, passing through the city center of Tunceli, originates from the village of Ziyaret in Ovacık.
