    Patrick, you remind me of my grandpa. He worked here in East Texas (San Augustine County) farming 155 acres with cattle, hay, corn, berries, collards, turnips, potatoes, all the regular vegatables and he had 500 peach trees. It's hard work, but the food tastes great. Nothing like fresh ground corn meal for cornbread! He used to put his piece of cornbread in a small glass of buttermilk for dessert. Precious memories! I'm going to see him again some day in Heaven. God bless the American farmer!

    Patreick, I like the year round harvesting method you have pioneered. Please keep meticulous records for the universities so they can refine the techniques and teaching the Ag business to students in the future. Very informative videos, keep 'em coming ! God Bless !

    Haha! When I was a kid I couldn't stand butterbeans. I would eat them first and swallow them whole then eat the rest of the food on my plate.

      Thanks John. That is the entire purpose of this channel…to show how, what, & why farmers are doing what they are doing.

    Most people think farming is just plows, sows, and cows. They don't realize what goes into it, from planning to planting, harvesting to marketing , and all the details in between. You do a great job explaining it, and you are reaching people who are generations removed from direct production. 👍👍

    Great job planning and planting. My schedule starts in the greenhouse and moves to my multiple market gardens. We hit just a little over 4000 tomato transplants today. About 3000 heirlooms and 1000 Hybrids. We are on track for our goal of 12000 total with the last planting around June 10th. Hopefully we will have Tomato's for Christmas. Great video.

    What a legacy these wonderful videos will be for your family after you've passed on. I like the fact that you're still old school in a lot of ways and old equipment is still useful...even though that missing closing disc on the third row of the planter worried me....Can't wait to see the green and growing things flourishing "to-day on the farrrm." Haha.

    It’s interesting to see row crops in clay. In SC that doesn’t seem to be very common. Most of the clay areas are hilly. Also interesting to see you growing butter beans. Hopefully you can make a video when you harvest those.

    • @PatrickShivers
      @PatrickShivers  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Clay is harder to work, but it holds the moisture and nutrients better than any other soil. It’s often called 30 minute dirt b/c it’ll go from to wet to to hard in 30 minutes.

    Dadgum Patrick! There bout ain’t much you don’t plant. I figured when I found your channel you’d be the typical cotton, corn, soybeans, and wheat farmer just in Southwest Ga. I’m excited to follow the progress of your crops!

    I love the diversity of your farm it is like no other farm I know of. Your idea about harvesting a crop a month is on a next level and I love it. Thanks for sharing.

      I don’t think I posted any last year. I’m slowly shifting from pea dominant to butterbean dominant production in my produce business

    • @pinevalleyfarm4941

      @@PatrickShivers a lot easier to harvest with the machine I assume. I only grow peas no machine here yet. Would love to grow some butterbeans once i step up.

    • @PatrickShivers
      @PatrickShivers  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pinevalleyfarm4941 butterbeans are strictly machine harvest. Pea yields are higher (obviously) when hand picked, but it is much cheaper to machine pick them.

    Bet that cedar smelled some kinda good. I had an American made Tacoma acoustic (1990s) made of cedar. Wish I still had it.
    Thanks for another highly educational video!

      @PatrickShivers  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Cedar Acoustics are generally made from Spanish cedar, but I have seen a few made from western red cedar. My favorite classical guitar I ever played was a spanish cedar Taylor.

    Add a 9.5 inch extension to the wheel beind your header. The plans are not ran over, and in about 6 weeks you can pick those beans again. Same yield as teh first time? No, but look at the reduction of input costs. You will actually make mote cash on that crop.

    • @PatrickShivers
      @PatrickShivers  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mine already has the extension

      Two standards in the business. Crimson sweet is the best seeded melon on the market. I’m growing Cracker Jack seedless with 8585 seeded pollinator.

    Sorry to bother but I have the same switch plow, and I was just wondering what company can I get a hold of that? Makes your drag. Instead of building my own. Thanks. Can I go through Deere to get them?

    • @PatrickShivers
      @PatrickShivers  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is after market, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Deere plow around here without one on it. I’ve never bought a new plow, but every JD plow here has the exact same drag on it so i assume the dealers are mounting them. Buster Bar makes some, I’m not positive if they made mine or not.

    do you use any inoculant on any bean crop?

    • @PatrickShivers
      @PatrickShivers  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
