Is this true asking the Uveans Malo Lailai (Greeting In fagauvean) alright so there was a legend of a powerful warrior who was referred to as ahu'eto he was a power legendary warrior who conquered the people of Fanguvea. He was from what we called in our legend and myths "Polianga oe fukau ngàahe tahi tui tonga' which translates to 'land and kingdom of adventures seas." After conquering the island it was said that he intermarried with a local ouvean women. After that he would bring many tongans to intermarry with the locals which brought the rise of fagauvea. The son of Aho'etu who was referred to as Mana'tukua who was known as the legendary chief of fagauvea he helped unify the whole of uvea island by the help of Mighty tongan warriors. This legend is mainly about "the rise of fagauvea" or "kou e Mahiki xere hake le fagauvea."
Might have to check with the Western Uveans or Uvea Lalo people from New Caledonia. Theres two Uveas, East Uvea which is part of Wallis and Futuna (the one in this video) and Western Uvea or Uvea Lalo which is part of New Caledonia. The use of x is only prevalent in Western Uvean.
Why Wallis and Futuna dont want to become independent like Tonga, Fiji, Samoa and Kiribati? i heard Rapa Nui, Tahiti/French Polynesia, Hawaii and New Caledonia/Kanak[native] really2 want free from European Colonialism, maybe the native of wallis and futuna dont care if their land, language, people and culture will gone just like Australian aboriginal and native America. i dont blame France and white French for extinction of native of Wallis and Futunan, they wanted their people to be gone. Fiji, Samoa and Tonga will survive for thousand of years, no others people will settle and made them minority in own land.
The setting for this dance performance is the icing on the cake. The ocean and mountains are a beauty! Lovely people.
They are ONE - UVEA
