Cool! I've got a pair of Kenyi and they're just the opposite. The males start out blue then turn yellow when they mature. The females stay blue
They’re my favorite too and for that exact reason!
If I ever got into African cichlids those would be the ones I’d probably try to get
They are gorgeous little fish!
One of my favorite as well when I had them in my 80 gallon mixed cichlid tank.
@TazawaTanks I love this Mbunas Pseudeotropheus Saulosi/Chindongo Saulosi and right now I am in the middle of my saving journey to save money for an aquarium just to have this Mbunas in. I wonder if you can consider to make a longer clip of the Pseudotropheus Saulosi/Chindongo Saulosai and how you get to set up an Saulosi Tank from start to finnish? big hugs from Martin in Sweden.
I have Kenyii Mbuna in a 75, they’re the opposite in color scheme, but just the same all together. Everyone should have some kind of species only Mbuna tank!
Its the other way around, It used to be named psuedotropheus saulosi but the new name is chindongo saulosi
Yes, but like 80% of the people still call it the old name, so it’s easier to explain in that way first. Maybe for older people like me 😂.
That blue shows up vibrant on any substrate.
I must agree. I've kept and bred these guys many times!
Beautiful colors
Very pretty, and it's cool that there's such a difference in the color between the males and females. Hard to make a mistake in that regard...😊
How many could you keep in a 40 breeder? My husband has been looking at these
I wanted to know about the rock that used in the aquarium
Do these guys do well with yellow labs? I’ve always liked them but figured their colors could draw aggro from my males
I have an African cichlid pair and I want them to breed but they are not doing anything 😅 can you tell me what fish should I add so they can stay comfortable together and breed faster
Question…
Can you add them a couple at a time without any aggression issues or do they have to be stocked all at once?
Money for many at a time will be an issue. Thanks and Tank on.
I usually advise people to add a minimum of 3-5 African cichlids at a time, and do it during a water change or at night when the lights are out (or both).
@@TazawaTanks, thank you Zenzo for the follow up, I super appreciate you and your dedication.
Do all the males color up? Or only the dominant one?
I’m getting 12 tomorrow!!!
It IS the best African cichlid. Not just in your opinion. It is an objective fact.
My male is 5 - 5 1/5 inches. Not so dwarf
Most likely a different species of mbuna. Could be a Kenyi, Blue Zebra or Maylandia.
I breed these kenyi cichilds
❤❤❤❤
Is this not demasoni?
No, Demasoni are a different type of mbuna.
I just wanna know how you got so many colored up males
Not sure. Lots of rock work, 75 gallon tank, good food, decent water change schedule. 😊
@@TazawaTanks how did I not know these were mbuna???
There isn't another dimorphic cichlid with the same colors, is there?
@@Lazy_Fish_Keeper Kenyi mbuna do this as well. They’re larger though.
@@TazawaTanks mine were small, max size of 3".
This was in the 90's, and came in a shipment of "mixed cichlids"
I just thought they were gorgeous, and nobody ever identified them while I had them 😅
