Never heard of her until TODAY( 1/18/2020)! I was perusing the CHUM charts and writing down songs I never heard before. This would have been a huge hit in the NYC area if anyone ever heard it in June of 1962. Thanks to Lime Popsicle!
THIS IS THE FIRST RECORDING EVER MADE BY SANDY IN 1961 AT ONLY 15 YEARS OLD. SHE WAS SIGNED TO A 5 YEAR CONTRACT BY COLUMBIA AND WENT ON TO RECORD A STRING OF HITS FOR THAT LABEL. SHE WAS BORN IN RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO AND IS HAILED AS ONE OF BEST EVER FEMALE SINGERS FROM CANADA.
I remember when this song was on the charts. A co-worker at the time told me Sandy was a girl who hailed from Richmond Hill, Ont. :) :) Her voice sounds very much like that of the great Brenda Lee!
Agree with you and other posters ... she is very Brenda Lee like ... and that's a big compliment ! ... Thanks for uploading so many interesting songs and artists that I had not known of before ... great stuff ! ... Wayne
I love these wonderful oldies! Sandy sure sounds like Brenda Lee on this one! Ms. Selsie reached Number 1 on the Canadian RPM Country Chart the week of April 26, 1965 with "I Wish That I Could Fall," which eventually spent three non-consecutive weeks at the top.
This lady can sing and she has the sound of Brenda Lee. I like how she phrases and also the background music. At one time this was the Music that we really looked forward to hearing and seeing. Suggestion. Why not put a beautiful voice like this on the Super Bowl Half Time Show????????? This kind of music sure beats the special lighting loud amps and fog machines and fireworks. It would be a sensation to book a singer like Sandy Selsie over the loud garbage they play today.
Wouldn't it be nice if someone put together a CD of Sandy and Pat Hervey together!! I am froom the Toronto area and as far as I am concerned neither of them received the airplay they deserved. If I remember correctly Pat attended Harbord Collegiate and I saw her perform there - but it was a loooooooooooooooooong time ago.
En mi opinión Brenda Lee, tiene un mejor registro. Sandy, no deja de ser una excelente cantante. Que gran música de los 60´. Gracias The Lime Popsicle. PERÚ.
sad how i today discovered her :-) . . too bad people-elvis put too much time-money into elvis!! :-( . . i love the shangrilas-ronnettes era/style!!!! :-)
