I still have my 12.9 3rd gen. I still haven’t found a good excuse to upgrade even with the newest offerings. Mine still does what I need it to… and does it fast.
I have the 12.9 3rd Gen 1 TB with a magic keyboard and it's still a work horse. I use it for business, devotions, stocks, emails, movies, games, video editing, however if you use Xbox Game Pass streaming features it lags while playing certain games, so its on the verge of being unusable for that, other than that its absolutely pointless to justify getting a M4 Ipad in place of it. When it no longer supports the newest IpadOS only then I would consider an upgrade, but even then id probably prefer the newest Mac Air. Currently use a Mac Pro M2, so it will be awhile before I upgrade realistically.
I have the latest version I think it’s 6th gen, these iPads are fantastic - I came from a Lenovo P11 Plus to this and it’s been brilliant for me for light work use, spreadsheets, media consumption etc. For anyone concerned about the aspect ratio it’s something that takes a bit of getting used to but if you’re coming from a 10 inch Samsung or equivalent tablet you get a similar amount of video area (but with black bars at the top and bottom) but the video area itself is about the same size. However one thing that is a major positive is how good it is to type on the on-screen keyboard of a device with this shape - I’ve never used a tablet that has even come close to being this usable and you really can touch-type on it just like you would a regular keyboard. My only slight negatives are the location of the selfie camera especially for zoom/teams calls as you’re always to the side, and the sheer weight of the iPad Pro does take a lot of getting used to at first. The accessories like magic pencil, Magic Keyboard case etc are all ridiculously expensive too, so something to bear in mind if you’ll be using this as a work horse. Overall really couldn’t recommend them enough, and feel like it will last a long time before needing to be upgraded.
I have the 12.9 3rd gen and a 10th gen i THOUGHT would be a good replacement given the 5G and two other spec bumps. Nope. It still exceeds the 10th gen in every way.
this screen is beautiful ... but this iPad costs so much especially for this because it's just a big phone. I'll prob just grab a budget Samsung and call it a day
This device is Square 4:3. I'm Personally like to Use 16:9/16:10 Screen Ratio!!! More Enjoyable for Watching TH-cam, Movies & Videos without any BlackBar!!! 😎🍿
I paid $500 for a 2018 12.9 inch iPad Pro 512 gigabytes Wi-Fi only model on January of this year and it’s great. Would rather take that any day over a iPad 10th gen or 9th gen.
Still using mine and still perfect as a consumption device. Just no reason to upgrade. Apple have almost shot themselves in the foot making the iPad so powerful!
Honestly probably at least 4 maybe more based on the speed and the 4gb of ram that makes it faster then the current base model 2024 ipad, so for how ever long they support the base model 2024 ipad they will also support this model.
I got the 1tb cellular 12.9” version used on eBay with the Keyboard folio for $411. Did I get a good deal? I think so but I could be missing something. I don’t use it for “productivity”. Kinda want to game with it but mostly just TH-cam, Netflix, and sidecar or duplicate the monitor of my Mac mini m4
Through out all the new generations of iPad pro these years, most of the updates are about the CPU and Camera. It does make the iPad run faster and more powerful. But the thing is, for normal people like us only using iPad to watch videos, play games, or read documents, how powerful do we need for an ipad😅
@@FishBeeProductionshi, im planning to get this and how long do you think OS update can be supported in this iPad? Probably 3 years should be to no issue? As i saw the 12.9 2nd Gen still can support for IOS 17, Thanks!
I have a chance to score one that's the LTE model locally, 256gb, for $400. Looking at it or the OnePlus Pad for $240 locally. Hard decision. Only reason I'd like the Pro is because how it renders sites better than on Android.
I still have this iPad 12.9 pro still runs good. But I just pre ordered the iPad M4 chip 13 inch 2024 well it’s for my mom but I plan to get the iPad Air M2 chip it’s for gaming and movies for me don’t need anything that strong.
Is stopping updates a problem? I saw the 11inch 2018 version for $320 used, and I saw the 3rd generation iPad Air for $220. What do you advise me if my goal is to take notes? I will not buy the 2nd generation pen because of its price, perhaps the first generation or from a third party
apps will still be updated but sort of personal preference on how long to use tablets and phones after you no longer receive updates. I'd probably only go a year or two past if it was me
What do you think of the Samsung S7? Is it still worth buying? Its price, used with the original keyboard, is also approximately $320, and will it get Android 14?@@FishBeeProductions
@@FishBeeProductionsI have three choices 1- Samsung Tab S7 with keyboard case $320 (used) 2- Samsung Tab S7 FE LTE 4 RAM $320 (new) 3- iPad 9, 64GB, Wi-Fi, $320 (new) What do you think is the best option? My goal is to take notes and maybe some games once in a while please
I have both the 2018 iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 inch models and have them both running iOS 18 atm with no problems zero lag just as fast as the day I got them.
I have this ipad since more than 4 years it has been fantastic tbh, but right now I don’t know if I should upgrade it to iPadOS 17.5 I’ve already had bad experiences upgrading old devices to newest ios and it feels laggy, how will this ipad perform with the newest iPadOS ? Thanks
I have the 2018 iPad Pro 3rd Generation 12.9 1TB Wifi and Cellular options. I keep it and all Apps updated and backed up and have not had any problems with running iPadOS Version 17.5.1 (21F90). Hope you do not have any problems either, if you chose to update.
Depends on the price of repairing it or the price of the iPad you want to replace it with. this iPad is still very good in 2024 so if it’s a good amount cheaper, just get it repaired
i want to buy this model but afraid the software updates will stop this year or next i know we wont get apple inteligence but what if your ipad isnt an m1 or higher no more software updates i will be behind ? i dont care about apple inteligence really but no more security updates that is really scary for me

Whats your current IOS ? Does it feel laggy with the latest IOS?
