Jeevan Mendis was another under utilized talent back in the days. He was a smart batter and a canny leggie. With him and prime Mathews, the Sri Lankan side practically had 14 players

I still remember that innings against Australia in the 2015 World Cup at the SCG where he scored a belligerent half century when SL were chasing 378. Some of the shots he played that day were truly magnificent, especially given the crunch situation. He unfortunately pulled his hamstring, and Sanga was caught off a no ball by Shane Watson on 104, otherwise we should have won that match and that would have changed the course of direction in the tournament for SL as well as the future of Sri Lankan Cricket, which sadly didn't happen.
It's good to see players going at it in the middle, makes it so much more intense. You don't see it anymore with the rise of franchise cricket, all the players know each other and are too m8y to sledge
