No doubt about it. Given our relative success the last couple of seasons, many supporters ramped up their expectations to nothing less than a trophy and now, particularly given City's dropoff, but also due to discontent over lack of attacking additions, there is a pretty large, angry, unforgiving mob and they are quite quick to overlook the horrible rash of injuries, bad luck with refereeing decisions, unfavorable run of schedule, not to mention everything Arteta did to raise the expectations so high.
Anyone who arrives at games early and watches the @Arsenal warm up will understand why we struggle to hit the target in the heat of a competitive game. Many struggle to get shots on target consistently when there's no pressure from combative defenders.
The issue was finishing AND creativity...people seem to forget we didnt have a single shot on target in the first half and only started generating chances once UTD had 10 men...so no chances vs 11 to chances vs 10...i know which game state im choosing as the conclusive one
Exactly! Creativity is a big issue especially in the Left 8 position. If odegaard is not on song then we don't create anything and it's easy to stiffle us.
Massive solidarity to Kai and his partner... Irrespective of his performance, which I'm sure he'd be the first to admit, ..the hate directed to Kai and his wifesimply cannot be justified
It was just one of those games that follows the narrative of a goalkeeper and defence having a blinder. As soon as the penalty was missed (it wasn't even a penalty), I knew we'd lose. Sterling was hopeless, every decision he made was wrong. Martinelli? I don't know what he does because he doesn't do tricks or beat his man. The buildup was slow and predictable. I knew if Arsenal dawdled United would get the players back behind the ball. But they didn't speed up. Like the last throes of Wenger's era. Pass pass pass pass etc etc. If there is one positive it's that we don't have more FA Cup games so can concentrate on the league and Champs League. But this result has been coming for ages. Arteta's predictable style plus United defending our corners well meant we had no plan B.
I agree with everything except the sterling statement. I thought he was the only one that actually ran at the opposition. He was very lively. The end product wasn't there but he hasn't started a game since September I believe
Very predictable play. We all know that odegard will play it to the right wing. We all know the right wing try and run down the line and cross ball. Or pass it back to odegard. Over and over all game. If martenelli gets the ball. Head down try and fail to cross the ball. 😢 Sterling was actually different. He was actually refreshing.
Is Kai Havertz signing the pivotal point for this squad as he failed as Xhaxa’s replacement and ultimately failed as a striker and being the highest paid player at the club means we are stuck with him! I think he’s the worst signing not player Arteta could have made and will eventually cost him his job.
Now its up to Kai to deliver. I don't think Arteta can coach him and motivate him more. If Kai wants to do this, I think he has the talent and football brain to be able to and hopefully he believes in himself. I really just want Kai to go take this personally and go take the NLD and go on a scoring run that will shut everyone up. If he retreats - I think he becomes technically insecure on the ball. I think his teammates need to help him even more, they have to make sure Kai gets more chances and keep feeding him so he can score. Odegaard hopefully takes this leadership as a captain.
@@housinauthority5258 just being facetious, frankly it is what it is and I don't think we'll be in a major cup hunt given the circumstances. I like Arteta but he's been given a free pass by the arsenal pod boys.
I still don't understand what our policy was last summer. We shipped out ESR, Eddie, Vierira, Nelson. 4 Attacking players who were clearly not good enough, but at least they were an option. And we signed Sterling at midnight transfer deadline day panic buy. And here we are, 2 weeks into the winter transfer window and no closer to replacing any one of them. It beggars belief.
Unfortunately, the fallout from the summer is surely having an impact. There's some excellent attacking midfielders out there who would surely help our team, but I can't imagine the board is thrilled to plunk down money in the exact same position where they just spent 35 million on a guy the manager really wanted.
There seems to be a segment of the fanbase that genuine care more about protecting and deflecting any accountability/blame on arteta, instead of just looking at the situation that our club is in our of 2 cups(We are not going to new casgle and overturning a 2 goal deficit with this patheic attack) and hoping liverpool slip up while we cant even take care of our own situation. Not good enough for a manager that spent 750 mil

Not as simple now to just go out and spend big on a striker - the club's accountants will be fully aware how many players we are likely to lose in the summer that will need replacing and then there's the question of financing an expansion of the Emirates. We need to have better feed from the academy and also to try to purchase talented young players before they become big expenditure signings.
How is Martinelli still keeping place in this team. He is clearly not a winger. Maybe better suited centrally, but he has been dreadful for two seasons now
Was waiting for the wilhelm-esque scream loop at the top for this one... Disappointed it wasn't included, just like my disappointment in yesterday's result.
I can’t help but think about the truly prolific forwards in the PL atm, and what they all have in common; Salah, Isak, Haaland, and even Palmer. The farthest they’re asked to track back is the center line. We rarely see them expend their energy running all the way back to their box and back again, time after time, throughout the entirety of the match. Hence when the opportunity comes, they’re fresh, focused, and still have the mental and physical ability to do what is expected of them in the opposition box. Our players, by the time they’re in attack, they’re completely depleted, awaiting any mistake, which will see them having to run back and do it all over again. Just an observation. Love you guys.
